3 out of 5 eggsIffy but operable

Pros: Does, for the most part, what it claims to do. It handled my i7-4790K well enough and has no trouble waking up.

Cons: Has been giving me a "00" on the debugger since day 1 (usually means a bad mobo) but somehow manages. However, the "optimize 5 way" function crashes the computer every time, and for the first two weeks the mobo would cause a crash randomly.

Other Thoughts: It's working, but I'd wish it gave me 100% what I paid for. If you want a future-proof mobo, I wouldn't suggest my current mobo to anyone. But maybe they fixed the bugs since when I bought it (4 months ago).

1 out of 5 eggsSerious Problems With Board

Pros: Boots up

Cons: Freezes doing basic things like installing drivers, etc. ASUS support already determined the board is bad, but they still have not issued an RMA after a week. It does not appear they intend to resolve the issue. This is the second ASUS product this year that has had issues and their customer support failed to resolve it. I guess they could offer a 50 year warranty, it would not matter if they do not honor it.

Other Thoughts: Find another brand. I wanted to trust ASUS, but they worked hard to make sure they could not be trusted.

Manufacturer Response:

5 out of 5 eggsGreat

Pros: Finally a motherboard that is not red and black! It's color scheme compliment my stealth build perfectly. The gold on the mother board is the same that on my evga 770 acx so it's awesome. It is very stable and haven't got any problem overclocking with it. The UEFI is great.

Cons: non

5 out of 5 eggsDoes it all

Pros: Hey it's ASUS. This is my 5th ASUS board in 20 years.
1150 socket (can you say 5th Gen 4.0ghz i7?)
Comes with bluetooth, WiFi (11.02ac). These work great with my smartPhone and my wireless speakers.
, Crystal 2 sound (better than my sound blaster)
M.2 PCI and SATA Express. Supports up to 3200 DDR3 RAM. Inmy opinion the easiest BIOS with the most options on the market. It supports up to 14 USB ports (6 of them 3.0)

Cons: Not the cheapest board by a long shot. Linux doesn't recognize the buit-in WiFi (not a big deal, I use an external adapter)

Other Thoughts: I've been building my own PC's for almost 20 years. Some for friends also. There's a reason I use more ASUS boards than all the others put together.

4 out of 5 eggsASUS Z97 Pro (WiFi AC)

Pros: This is a really good motherboard. It does everything its supposed to and hasn't done anything that it wasn't since i got it all set up. It super durable and rock solid in performance. If you are looking for a reliable and solid motherboard this one is for you

Cons: The WiFi AC is terrible. I cannot connect to my router on the 5ghz band and the 2.4ghz band was very unreliable, even though my iPhone and Macbook can connect perfectly fine to both bands. I have the ASUS RT-AC68U router so I thought I could have taken advantage of the AC capabilities but I guess not. I had to bring the router exceptionally closer to my room to have it connect but when it did, the 5G band was insanely fast. I ended up getting power line adapters so i can run a wired connection to my modem because i couldn't place the router in an acceptable location. so if you are getting this board for the WiFi, I would recommend just saving your 30 dollars and get the Z97 Pro without WiFi and invest the 30 dollars on the higher grade wireless adapter with bigger range. This one sucks!

Other Thoughts: Other than the wifi capabilities this board is pretty sweet. kinda annoyed me because i could have saved 30 bucks and gotten the Z97 without WiFi

5 out of 5 eggsASUS Rocks!

Pros: Everything is clearly marked and super simple to put a system together. LOVE IT!

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I have always used ASUS motherboards and this one just solidifies my reasoning. The WiFi is super fast and it runs so smoothly.
If you want a quality motherboard packed with a ton of features without going to the poorhouse, then your search stops here.

5 out of 5 eggsVery satisfied!

Pros: After more than 5 years of going with Asrock and EVGA (Bad choice for MBs) I've come back to Asus and so glad I did! It made OC'ing my i-4790k a piece of cake. This board has been rock stable since it booted up the first time. No more will I resort to Asrock or EVGA for my main PC builds. You get what you pay for!

Cons: The only thing I can think of is the price, but again you get what you pay for. If you're not going to be doing anything like OC'ing I would recommend a basic Asrock board. They are stable and the company is a spin off of Asus itself.

Other Thoughts: Longtime Asus fanboy returns.

1 out of 5 eggsVery disappointed with this motherboard

Pros: Looks good, built quality seems solid

Cons: Keeps freezing after sleep

Other Thoughts: I bought Z97-Pro motherboard with Intel i7-4790K CPU last week, but the system keeps freezing after sleep. When I tried to wake up the computer, the CPU fan and system fan were running, but there was no video output to the monitor, also the keyboard and the mouse were not working. I had to press the power button for several seconds to force the system shut down then reboot the computer.

I switched the whole system back to my old MSI Z87 MPower motherboard, then the freezing problem is completely gone, I can wake up my computer without any problem. So it seems that Asus Z97-Pro motherboard is defective.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

I am sorry that you are having issues with the motherboard. If you have not contacted NewEgg for an exchange already, please let me know and we can discuss your case as well as setting up an RMA with ASUS. When you have the chance, please provide me with what additional troubleshooting steps you have tried, as well as the rest of the systems hardware configuration. Cs#N140907520

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent

Pros: This board is simply great. I was looking for a high quality board with built in networking ability. I purchased the board not too long after the release date. I have had only a slight issue with the BIOS and the XMP system not clocking the ram to the full extent, but otherwise happy.

The board has a great color scheme to it and feels sturdy. I wanted a great quality board and definitely got it with this Asus Pro series. I was comparing it to the newer ROG Hero VI, but didn't feel it was a quite robust in features per dollar. I don't plan on overclocking because the I7-4770K I have installed simply doesn't need any additional tuning and is blazing fast to begin with.

If you are a serious overclocker and want the next level, then go with ROG, otherwise go ahead with this board and it shouldn't let you down. (Of course it is unfortunate when it happens, but sometimes boards are DOA. Don't let that necessarily influence your decision on this board.

Cons: No cons that I can think of except for a minor issue with XMP settings not clocking my ram to their capable speed of 1800 MHz, which should not need overclocking at that speed.

Other Thoughts: Great board. Solid quality.
