1 out of 5 eggsDisappointing

Pros: Would've had something to say if the board didnt arrive DOA

Cons: Arrived DOA

Other Thoughts: Received the MB for a new system build. Hooked everything up and powered the computer on and..... no video, POST, nothing. Still pretty bummed about this as I was going to use this new build as a media center in my living room.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

Sorry to hear that your unit was DOA out of the box. I hope that the replacement unit that newegg sends you works properly so you can review our motherboard with positive praise.

If you have any questions or comments you can email me again at cl-jeffrey@asus.com which I reside in the U.S

ASUS strives to meet and exceeds our customer expectations within our warranty policy.

Regards,

Jeffrey

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Mostly intuitive, easy to use, easy to install. Pretty straight forward and a nice bang for my buck for entry level product. Nothing fancy or wow'ing about it but if you don't need to build an insane rig or don't have plans for it, this is perfect.

Cons: Definitely wished it had USB 3.0 at the least, though SATA 3.0 would be nice too. Instruction manual wasn't completely clear either but I figured out what I was doing.

Other Thoughts: Overall not bad. The GPU slot took a little figuring out since the instruction manual didn't clarify that, but otherwise, everything has been good. The UEFI BIOS is a nice touch I'm not used to but I will get used to it. It does everything I need/want it to do so I'm a happy customer. I would have given it 4.5 eggs/stars if I could. The USB 3.0 is a draw back for me.

2 out of 5 eggsNot good.

Pros: It has a pretty UEFI bios. Otherwise standard motherboard features. Works with Win 7 as long as you don't have a hard drive connected through USB. Maybe it's just faulty.

Cons: Worked fine for a day and now freezes at POST when an external USB hard drive is attached. Has the latest BIOS version and the settings are Load Otimized. It just decided not to like the hard drive unless you connect it later in Windows 7. Three other computers boot fine with that drive. Not crazy about UEFI, but that's not the MB's fault.

Other Thoughts: I've never had USB controllers fail on me. I've had ones that did not work out of the box. I've had devices that weren't compatible with an AMD processor...ahem ahem Zoom h4n, but not ones which worked for a few hours and then decided not to.
The build was:
nMEDIAPC Black HTPC Case 5000B
AMD A4-5300 Trinity 3.4GHz
G.SKILL NS 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR3 1333
Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7200rpm
COOLER MASTER Vortex Plus CPU Cooler
CX430 Corsair Power Supply

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

We're sorry to hear about the issue you had with the motherboard.

Please try seting Boot > USB Support to Partial Initial so that it bypasses USB devices other than keyboard and mouse.

If you still have issue, please contact me at cl-benson@asus.com. Reference #C1037-5217 in the subject line for faster reply.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid motherboard

Pros: BIOS updateable via USB drive. Easy to navigate BIOS interface. RAID works fine. Lots of feature for a Micro ATX board. Took a A10-5800K processor and 16GB of RAM just fine.

Cons: Still haven't figured out how to reduce the amount of memory allocated to the onboard video. This is going to be a NAS box and I don't need 768MB allocated to video.
