5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Motherboard

Pros: This motherboard is a beast. I installed it with an AMD 9500 8 core processor, Coolermaster 240M liquid cooling system. The bios is intuitive and allows you to make modifications very easily. You won't be disappointed with this product.

Cons: None

1 out of 5 eggsNon mission capable for about a month.

Pros: Neatly packaged. Manual and the monitoring software was user friendly. I didn't do any overclocking, but all of those tools were available. This MB was along with the AMD FX-8350 Black Edition Vishera 8-Core 4.0GHz (4.2GHz Turbo) processor was the foundation of my build, with G.SKILL Trident X Series 32GB (4 x 8GB) and an EVGA GeForce GTX 780 3GB 384-Bit. I bought a Crucial 480Gb SSHD. It's amazing when it was operational.

Cons: This one egg is in no way reflective of Newegg, this is strictly for the ASUS Crosshair V Formula-Z MB. Owned this MB for approx (~) 4.5 months, took ~ a month to get everything to complete the build and get it up and running. After a couple of months of normal operation, one evening it just wouldn't power up. Been non mission capable for about a month now. Due to being beyond Neweggs' 30 day RMA, had to go directly through ASUS. Rcv'd MB back from ASUS Jeffersonville, IN repair facility, only document included was a Service Shipping List w/ no information indicating anything was repaired or tested. Phoned the facility using the number on the return invoice and found it to be a fax number. Found another number online and phoned the facility. Spoke with a rep who was sincerely trying to be helpful. Asked what was repaired, rep admitted he couldn’t exactly determine what was repaired. He asked if there was a problem with the MB, it was undetermined at that time because I hadn’t installed it yet. The reason for my call wanting to know what was wrong and repaired. After installing it, there was no change from what I originally sent the MB in to be checked for. The motherboard is still inoperative. Board does not boot and there is no indication of power getting to the board.
After thoroughly examining the board on both sides with a magnifying glass to try and determine what component(s) were replaced, I was unable to come to a conclusion that anything was repair. What I did find was several components improperly surface mounted to the board, such as with the memory module connectors on the backside missing soldered joints. Another issue is there are two plastic guard/tabs delaminating on the bottom of the MB, these back the large components with heat sinks on component side of the board. Undetermined if these came from the manufacturing facility this way or if this was in fact the result of a poor quality repair. Either way, the Quality Assurance/Quality Control inspectors missed these before sending the product out. PSU was ruled out in the ambiguity group of suspected problems, when the PSU 24pin connector is disconnected, jumping the green pin to a black pin the PSU powers the case fans and PSU fan. Probed all of the pins on the connector and the appropriate voltages were present. No LED’s on the MB come on, no sign that power is getting to where it need to go after being connected. Since I received this MB back, I attempted to get the MB to POST with just the minimum installed outside of my case and still there was no change, the MB is toast. Submitted an escalation case through ASUS more than 48 hours ago, still awaiting a response.

5 out of 5 eggsSo many features, so little time

Pros: More features than you can think of.
6 available case fan connections.

Cons: Maybe just too many features but would not call that a con.

Other Thoughts: All the features that this mobo has is just awesome. has just about everything you can think of and the added software is a plus. If you can afford this board, go for it, you will not be disappointed.

4 out of 5 eggsBest amd motherboard to date!

Pros: This motherboard comes packed with loads of great features and is highly efficient! The price is considerably fair if you consider the quality of product your receiving! I love the bios so easy to under stand and simple to navigate!

Cons: Only thing that really was worth docking an egg for is this motherboard isn't compatible with windows 8.1. I encountered a lot of problems after installing it. It worked great for about a week until one day i updated windows and i couldn't even use the internet without the computer blue screening and shutting off. I did some reading and their a lot of reports saying this motherboard doesn't work well with windows 8.1 but yet its windows 8 compatible out of the box?

Other Thoughts: Over all love this mother board after switching back to windows 7 home premium i have experienced zero problems and highly recommend this asus product to anyone out their!

4 out of 5 eggsDANG! SO many things!

Pros: Great feature set. Can run whatever AM3+ CPU you want to throw at it. SLI & Crossfire support. Incredible sound for an "onboard" solution, converted me from inferior solutions. Very nice color scheme that's accented by the sound shielding LEDs. Pretty good software selection with a caveat in cons. Really simple BIOS updating from the desktop.

Cons: USB3 Boost software not great from drivers disk, would always alert at startup for failure to start. Also overclocking software would do this (I don't trust software solutions but wanted to give it a try). The Boost errors went away after installing from the ASUS site, but the OC software still did it, so it got uninstalled.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat board

Pros: Works just how it's supposed to, and it works very nicely. It has been very durable and the only problems I have had with it were self-inflicted stupidity messing with BIOS settings I did not know much about. It also has some nice lighting on it and looks nice through my case window.

Cons: If you know what you're doing, this board should be more than adequate for mid-high tier gaming builds.

Other Thoughts: General advice is not mess around with settings you don't know much about it, luckily the reset button is easy to use.

4 out of 5 eggsFirst Major Upgrade

Pros: Sleek look, Sturdy feeling, Great On Board Sound, Easy to read "Post,Splash" code for those annoying issues when building a PC or in my case upgrading. All in all i would recommend this board so far. For the OC Heads out there, this board has many of features to unleash your FX CPU. I paired this with an FX9370, and i am loving it. The features in BIOS, the easy to baby clock it up. What more could you ask for with this MoBo. It comes in one of the best Packages i could have imagined. They did not skimp out on this product. Plenty of Case fans and what not. Try to break this beast! Sure you can go cheaper, but if you love to push things to the limits and you use a lot of power, this is the board for you! Will update as i get more time with it.

Cons: Right now...none i can think of.

Other Thoughts: While i have yet to see what i can do with this board in terms of OC, i just cant stress the fact i will never use everything this board can do. It truly is a board for someone who likes to show off.

5 out of 5 eggsAsus Crosshair V Formula-Z

Pros: The MOBO fit in my Corsair C70 case with no problem. The quality is high. There was an initial problem after a couple days....I reset my MOBO to optimized defaults and it would not restart. A trouble code of 66 was the issue. What I found was the Boot Settings in the BIOS would not recognize my SSD (which had my OS) as a boot priority but it did show it as a Boot Override. I went further into the settings and manually added the SSD as the Primary Boot and all is well. The overclocking is great! I overclocked my FX 8350 to 4.8 GHZ with following the Guide on the Asus ROG forum and it is very stable.

Cons: None.

5 out of 5 eggsNot for the Faint of Heart

Pros: + Got it on sale, so there's that.
+ Gigabit
+ Lots of Overclocking options and other crazy features that I'll probably never use.

Cons: - It's one of the most expensive AMD boards
- BIOS can be intimidating

Other Thoughts: If you like overclocking, go with this board.
