5 out of 5 eggsBOOTED!

Pros: What a difference when it boots. Fun board - easy to overclock. Most stable AMD board I have ever owned. Took me 48hrs after I finally got this baby to boot to get my 8350 to 4.8GHz. The UEFI Bios is beautiful.

Cons: Not for the feint of heart. Found a 1GB DDR3 stick of generic ram from an old repair job I did and stuck that in. Still no dice. Flashed the board (via that ROG button thing on the back) to the second to latest Bios instead of the latest which I had done. That was done all blind by the way as I still had no video whatsoever. After that the LED readout at least started to do something again instead of going right to the FF code, but still would not boot.
Took out the Phenom II 955, put my 8350 back in - and !@#@#$$%^$%!
It finally booted.
Took the generic RAM out, DDR3 2133 in - no issues. Flashed to the latest BIOS, no problem. Hell of a ride people - but worth it.

Other Thoughts: Please see my previous (initial review).
I stand by that 1 egg review, but I now have to give it 5 eggs because of it's performance.
Again - please see my initial review.

5 out of 5 eggsIt IS a Croshair V

Pros: Awesome motherboard. Intuitive design and layout made for easy troubleshooting and overclocking.

For first builders or those still on the rocks about it, the Q-LEDs are godsend as a different light indicates where the failure is happening. It's got a light for CPU, VGA, PSU, and RAM - to help narrow down your first-start problems.

It also has an awesome, easily readable number display which corresponds to a failure somewhere on the MOBO. You manual shows all the number codes.

Plus an easy to see and reach start and reset button directly on the board itself for easy BIOS access.

Cons: Fan ports are a little spread out - but that could just be where my case has them.

4 out of 5 eggsFun to play with

Pros: Wonderful board but uefi is so hard to get used to. the included software is nice and it has some wicked features for overclocking but be warned when overclocking you may need google to decipher some settings.

Cons: included fan xpert software is very basic you cant set individual profiles so CPU is one group case another and opt another. cant set opt 1 different than opt2 ... also cant find the thermal probes ANYWHERE !

1 out of 5 eggs66 first, then code FF - Board is Shot

Pros: NONE - Give me one that works and I would comment.

Cons: I took a shot on an open box for $187. Board arrived with bent pins on the TPM connection at the bottom. The aluminum Supreme FX chip had a crease in it, the top right Sata connector was not soldered to the board correctly, and finally, the board was physically bent slightly right across the bottom. Ridiculous quality control on Newegg's part. The board itself did not look as if it was ever fired up and all the contents of a brand new board except the original box came with my order. Crying shame.
RMA'd that one, and I ordered a new one.
This thing is shot. It fires up and all looks nice & pretty - that about it. Code 66 first on the LEDs which is absolutely useless. The CPU LED on the board stays lit - which is supposed to indicate a problem with the CPU.
I re-check everything 87 times - still code 66.
Took out the DDR3 2133, put a singe stick of DDR3 1600 - same.
Took out the FX8350, put in my Phenom II 955 - code goes to FF.
Reset the board many times (battery out) - got nowhere. Never did I get a single blip of video signal, much less a cursor.
I now have $400 hung up waiting on refunds with this board.
I echo all fellow reviewers that this is hit or miss, that code 66 & FF absolutely exist. I don't know if I'll try a 3rd after I get my refunds.

Other Thoughts: I have avoided ASUS boards for over a decade as I got burned with 2 of them ages ago. Nothing but Gigabyte for me since. I need to replace my FXA990-UD7 version 1 and I would have gone with the Version 3 of that same board. Cannot find it anywhere - board disappeared from the face of the earth. Went with this as I have DDR3 2133 and want overclocking for my 8350. Version 1 of that board in not overclockable due to no LLC/Vdroop issues. I have had my 8350 up to 4.7 for everyday use, but the minute you go play a mildly intense game, it doesn't take long for the CPU voltage to dramatically drop, and goodbye. Too bad ASUS has so many issues with this thing.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat MotherBoard

Pros: Lots of tweaks in the bios and extra CPU and VGA power plugs on the board! Has more OC features than most people will ever use! colorful has LEDS Buttons to go straight to bios and other things that are useful.

Cons: Non Really a little pricey still it should be about $25.00 lower!
ASUS Utilities are a little iffy at best !
The Intel lan seems a little slow and I am picking up a new router and will see if this helps

Other Thoughts: Except for the provided software a little to much and if all is installed it may or may not conflict with other stuff you have installed. Overall I am pleased with this current setup.

1 out of 5 eggsOnly briefly worked

Pros: It looks nice.

Cons: It has only worked briefly for me. After two weeks problems started where the board would give me random errors on 3D games. Took it to get a diagnostic and it was determined a faulty MoBo. I RMA'd it and got a Sabertooth 990FX while waiting for my RMA. Everything worked beautifully and the PC was running the entire time the RMA was out. I got the new board and it was also a brick. RMA'd it again and got another brick. I waited on hold yesterday for 2 hours, and after all that, they assured me a supervisor would be contacting me by the end of the day. Never happened. Currently on hold now, and it's at 2 hours and counting. I'm so shocked by such terrible quality in such a high end board.

Other Thoughts: Don't waste your money on this.

1 out of 5 eggsFF CODE! BAD MOTHERBOARD

Pros: I own two of these. The first one works well.

Cons: I was building a second computer with one and have heard rumors of the FF code. The board didn't even boot up and a FF code was reading. No screen signal either. I have tried their technical support FAQ page and even connected the other board to it and it works fine. The second board just is a dud and ASUS Support is extremely hard to get a hold of. Confusing call times and their website sucks at getting a phone number to talk to someone.

1 out of 5 eggsBAD QUALITY BOARD !!

Pros: Looks nice!

Cons: This is my second board that has not worked, and now I have to send to Asus to get it repaired. The first would not fire up, and the second board fired up but no display and motherboard code FF comes up. I tried two different Nivida Cards 570 gtx and 780 gtx, plus two different power supplies. I'm using a AMD FX-9590 Vishera 4.7GHz Socket AM3+ witrh no luck!!!

Other Thoughts: I bought plenty of ROG boards and this one has been a nightmare!!

Manufacturer Response:

Greetings Gabeszone,

I am sorry to hear that you had a problem with a second board as well sir. Did you happen to RMA it already? If not, please let me know and I will be happy to assist you with setting up an RMA so that I may look into your case further. Please include your reference number within the subject line. In addition, please provide me with what troubleshooting steps you have tried, as well as the rest of the systems hardware configuration. Thank you!Cs# N141006950
