5 out of 5 eggsPretty Amazing

Pros: Simply everything

Cons: What can I say? Being a new Proud owner of one of the best mobos for the AMD processor. Owned a Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3 rev 1.0 before this one. That board was an overclocking headache. Couldn't OC my ram past 1600 MHz and even clocking it that high limited how high that I could OC my CPU to before I had stability problems.

So I ordered a new case and this motherboard and once it came in I transferred all my hardware from old board to this board. Now I am able to OC my ram up to 2133 MHz, (and probably further with some more tweaking.) I can also OC my CPU up to 4.7 GHz at the same time with no problems.

Only thing that I had issues with was initial boot up after reinstalling Windows 10. I kept getting blue screens and reboots before completing installation. Come to find out, BIOS defaults at least for my RAM and CPU sets the voltage too low. I had to bring CPU voltage up to 1.42 and RAM to rated 1.65 to be able to boot. Also initial setup of audio software takes some tweaking in settings to be able to get sound to output to correct devices. Other than that, enjoying some great FPS increases in games and OC stability is awesome. Loving this board!!

CPU: AMD FX 8350
RAM: Crucial Ballistix 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2000 (PC3 16000) Desktop Memory Model BLE2KIT4G3D2001CE1TX0
CORSAIR DOMINATOR GT 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2000 (PC3 16000)

Total 16GB

GPU: EVGA GTX 660 2-way SLI
PSU: Thermaltake 850W
Cooling: Thermaltake CLW0217 Water 2.0 Extreme/All-In-One Liquid Cooling System

Other Thoughts: Initial tweaking in BIOS from get-go in order to boot.
Initial tweaking with sound to get it to work correctly from software to hardware.

Pros: - Plenty of room for multi-card setups
- Very user friendly BIOS
- A simply amazing overclocking experience
- Excellent cooling of the board itself
- Runs my 9590FX without any issues
- Spacing between PCI slots is perfect

Cons: I haven't found any yet

Other Thoughts: Very useful board if you enjoy overclocking, or want to do a multi-card setup.

2 out of 5 eggsMy last Asus MOBO

Pros: ROG connect, user friendly BIOS, Asus update and AI Suite

Cons: Frequent problems with Asus products. My first Asus MOBO was a Sabretooth 990fx which bricked unexpectedly after about 6 months of use. Upgraded to a crosshair and had only minor trouble with updating the BIOS. I then bought this, my second crosshair. After 1 day of use the network adapter has died.

Other Thoughts: When Asus products work they are great.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Derek,

I am sorry to hear that you are having problems with your network adapter on your motherboard and the inconvenience it caused you. Have you checked if the network adapter was not disabled on accident? If you are convinced that your network adapter is faulty, you can submit an RMA and have it replaced at http://www.asus.com/us/support. ASUS offers 3 year warranty on our motherboards. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact me at cl-justin@asus.com and I will help you to the best of my abilities. Your case # for reference is N150865513

Thanks for choosing ASUS

Regards,
Justin

5 out of 5 eggsTakes lots of abuse

Pros: Customization. This thing has every feature you could imagine in regards to overclocking. It took just under 3 years of abuse from me with extreme overclocks. The BIOs is well designed and setup in a way that makes sense. It has a great soundcard that actually has decent software (Woah?). The software suite that ASUS Provides allows you to tweak any overclock setting from Windows or even connected to another computer running Windows.

Cons: Only cons I could think of is that the BIOs utility doesn't allow you to downgrade easily. Not a big con.

The other thing is with Linux distro, the BIOs must embed UEFI boot titles in the BIOs chip. Even after reformatting the drivers to windows and upgrading the BIOs it keeps the options Fedora/CentOS and Ubuntu in the BIOs boot list. Yet none of these are available. Just odd mostly.

Other Thoughts: First time I've ever had a motherboard go before a processor. No big deal. :)

4 out of 5 eggsMOBO

Pros: Alot of advanced stuff for half of the cost of top dollar intel MOBO.

Cons: A FEW DAYS after the 30 day point passed, the MOBO partially fails.

Other Thoughts: Buy the Warranty or bust

5 out of 5 eggsASUS Motherboard

Pros: Nice product! My first build from new parts. Everything was delivered in good order, condition and in a timely manner. Assembly was well documented with easily understood manuals. Hardware was high quality, clean and no defects. Very pleased with the service, product and myself for saving a bunch of cash, by building it myself!

1 out of 5 eggsDifficult Product Setup

Pros: Nice feature set if this product worked as advertised.

Cons: This board is a pain. Doesn't recognize the ram correctly and set the XMP timings using a 4 stick set of G.Skill.F3-1600C9-8GXM.The only way it will boot and function is using "optimized defaults" then it runs this this 1600 memory at 1333 at timings nowhere to be found in the timing tables. Reading on the ROG website another user had the same problem and the ASUS tech recommended using some extreme auto setup. When it booted it didn't thinks it has an Ethernet adaptor installed even though windows 6.1 pro reported the correct driver under hidden devices!

5 out of 5 eggsa great motherboard

Pros: if you are an amd fan how can you not love this motherboard, no i cant bring myself to call it a mobo, with all of its features. i have a 9590 and a msi r9 290x 8gb video card running 8gb of low latency 1866 memory in a cooler master haf 932 case. i have never had an issue with asus products nor with this one.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: be weary of numerous negative reviews which to me seem to be caused by the user/builder and other components in the system regardless of their "tech knowledge" rating.
