Based on AMD 990X /SB950 chipset, ASUS M5A99X EVO ATX motherboard lets you take advantage of the powerful AMD AM3+/AM3 multi-core processors. You’ll enjoy up to 5200MT/s HyperTransport 3.0 (HT 3.0) interface speed, quad USB 3.0 & SATA 6Gb/s and PCI Express 2.0 x16 graphics with support for CrossFireX and SLI technologies.

The M5A99X EVO is equipped with DIGI+ VRM technology in addition to the TPU and EPU processors that offer enhanced performance and power management. DIGI+ VRM power delivery allows a user to precisely adjust and control power settings digitally for precise power control and flexible tuning of their system. Also included is the intuitive and feature laden ASUS UEFI BIOS menu interface allowing users to control and adjust their motherboard settings through the use of a mouse-enabled interface for a superior user-friendly experience that BIOS does not offer.

  • newegg AMD FX /Phenom II /Athlon II /Sempron 100 Series Processors Support This motherboard supports AMD AM3+ multi-core processors with unique L3 cache and current AMD Phenom II /Athlon II /Sempron 100 Series processors. The AMD 990X Chipset is designed to support up to 5200MT/s HyperTransport 3.0 (HT 3.0) interface speed and dual PCI Express 2.0 x16 graphics (1x16 or 2x8).
  • newegg DIGI+ VRM ASUS DIGI+ VRM is an innovative, industry-leading technology that fully integrates Intel VRD12 specifications on a native level, greatly enhancing power to go far beyond the limits of analog designs. ASUS DIGI+ VRM acts as a digital controller to perfectly match digital power signal (SVID) requests from the CPU, eliminating digital-to-analog conversion lag. The exclusive dual driver and MOS design doubles the heat dissipation area with expanded cooling surfaces for improved thermal performance. Spacing components out over a wider area speeds up cooling to enhance reliability and stability. The same exclusive dual driver and MOS design also provides twice the CPU power supply with two complete power stages. This results in far greater phase load tolerances, so the CPU never has to wait for power to arrive, increasing performance and overclocking potential.
  • newegg TPU & EPU The TPU chip offers precise voltage control and advanced monitoring through Auto Tuning and TurboV functions. Auto Tuning offers a user friendly way to automatically optimize the system for fast, yet stable clock speeds, while TurboV enables unlimited freedom to adjust CPU frequencies and ratios for optimized performance in diverse situations. The EPU chip provides a real-time, dynamic power saving by automatically detecting current PC loadings and intelligently moderating power consumption. This also reduces fan noise and extends component longevity!
  • newegg UEFI BIOS The new ASUS UEFI BIOS is an Extensible Firmware Interface that complies with UEFI architecture, offering a user-friendly interface that goes beyond traditional keyboard-only BIOS controls to enable more flexible and convenient mouse input. Users can easily navigate the new UEFI BIOS with the same smoothness as their operating system. The exclusive EZ Mode displays frequently-accessed setup info, while the Advanced Mode is for experienced performance enthusiasts that demand far more intricate system settings. The UEFI BIOS also natively supports hard drives larger than 2.2TB in 64-bit, with full storage space utilization, helping deliver far more exciting computing than traditional BIOS versions!
  • newegg Quad USB 3.0 & 6 x SATA III AMD SB950 Southbridge natively supports next-generation Serial ATA (SATA) storage interface, which delivers up to 6.0 Gb/s data transfer rates. ASUS facilitates strategic USB 3.0 accessibility for both the front and rear panel - 4 USB 3.0 ports in total. Experience the latest plug & play connectivity at speeds up to 10 times faster than USB 2.0.
  • newegg Quad-GPU SLI and Quad-GPU CrossFireX Support The ASUS M5A99X EVO features two PCI-E 2.0 x16 slots (x16 or dual x8) that support Quad-GPU SLI and Quad-GPU CrossFireX, delivering a brand-new gaming style you’ve never experienced before!

1 out of 5 eggsRMA frustration

Pros: Worked great when working

Cons: I bouth this board Feb 2012, and worked great until about 6-9 months ago, has a few isseus that might not to be blamed on the board, then one day was playing WOW and the sound cut off and then board when completely off, I tried to hard restart but then the bios would not boot, kept freezing over and over, did a pin reset, yay we can get into bios, but now not loading Windows 7, I did and RMA, paid for shipping, they sent me back the same board and no notation of what had been done or fixed...what the heck...took the set up into a local repair store for dignostics, they to concluded that its dead, no booting at all. I have now RMA'd a SECOND TIME! just got the same board back, after emails saying the board was fixed...and well still dead. very disapointed in ASUS.

Other Thoughts: I havent had a computer in over 3 months and its all time wasted sending and reciving the same dead board, what the heck guys! just give me a new board I am still under warrenty

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Quality and performance

Pros: Every bit as good as the Sabertooth board I owned. This mobo OC's easily. Very good board for the money. Runs the 8350 CPU, with the 1708 BIOS update flawlessly.

Cons: None. Owned it over a year with no issues.

Other Thoughts: Also handles the EVGA GTX 770 GPU flawlessly. Windows 7 runs great with it all.

2 out of 5 eggswas good till my warranty was up

Pros: -good OC
- easy Bios
-lots of ports

Cons: - ports stopped working
-drivers weren't working

-asus customer service was terrible

Other Thoughts: called to get my RMA and see if they could help me at all. Guy told me its out of warranty so I could pay to get it fixed or just go buy a new on e 'Its not my problem " he said.

I have asus everything and cant afford another mobo atm but I thought this would last more than a year. might have to go to another company :/

Manufacturer Response:

Greetings,

Although the warranty has expired, I may be able to help with technical support. What ports are having issues on the computer? Also, you mentioned that the drivers are not working, what is the problem with them? 3451774.

Mark

4 out of 5 eggsGood MB

Pros: This was a nice up grade for me. I'm running an old Phenom 955 BE and upgraded the motherboard and added a SSD. I'm still using an old Radeon 5770 video card. But the performance jump was wonderful. Loving the 6Gb lanes!

Cons: Sleep issues that others have mentioned. Bios needs tweaking and takes some learning - but why else does would I buy a new MB if I didn't want the fun of tweaking.

Other Thoughts: Overclocked and running fast for a year now.

1 out of 5 eggsNice when it works

Pros: FIne when it works

Cons: Have returned it for a second time. First two USB ports were not working. After repairs it worked a bit and now no USB ports work and sound is dead.
Also over time I have had other problems that seem likelyto be MB related, but are difficult to be definitive about.
* Repeated video driver crashes (with two different video cards).
* RAM (4 x 4 GB) that worked when first installed (acording to memtest), but after about 6 months memtest reproted errors. Interestingly when I tested the RAM sticks individually or in pairs they all worked fine, it was just all 4 together that gave errors.
* Finally although the MB supposedly has a UEFI BIOS, neither WIndows 7 or 8 recognized it as UEFI.

Other Thoughts: Given my experience with this and other ASUS products I struggle to understand why their products get such high ratings.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

I am sorry your motherboard is not working. If I may, I would like to help.

If possible, may I have the Windows Dump files please? I would need the error reports when the Bluescreens happened.
Regarding the USB and sound issues, what drivers are currently installed? Also, are the USB ports and sound card being detected in Device Manager?

At you earliest convenience, please contact me through email, and we can discuss this case further. Within the message, please include the serial number of the card and any troubleshooting steps tried. Your reference number for this case is 3104603.

5 out of 5 eggsIn love

Pros: Going from a micro ATX to this was amazing. Fit perfectly with my case (Rosewill Blackhawk ATX mid tower), very reliable, I love the BIOS set up, easy to flash.

Cons: I have honestly had zero issues with this board that are worthy of docking an egg. I do wish that some of the SATA ports didn't need L cables in my case, but that's more of a case issue.

Other Thoughts: I use my computer mainly for gaming, and honestly I'm very pleased with this motherboard. She's holding out steady, looks great, easy to use. I am not the type of gamer who needs 500 slots for GPU's and other card accessories, yet it has enough for a crossfire, which I eventually plan on using.
