TUF series, which stands for The Ultimate Force, delivers a “tough” image. With its unique design and high quality components (military-standard), TUF series is built for stability, all-round compatibility, and extreme durability.

The newest addition to the TUF Series motherboards is the SABERTOOTH 990FX based on the latest AMD’s top 990FX/SB950 chipsets. Known for their unrivaled quality and reliability in extreme conditions, the SABERTOOTH 990FX features the use of CeraM!X, an exclusive aerospace-grade cooling material that is extremely effective in conducting heat away from vital system components. Also onboard is ASUS’ Thermal Radar technology that consists of ten sensors located on vital motherboard components, which provides users the ability to actively monitor each one individually and automatically adjust fan speeds to ensure a high level of system stability without overheating. Besides six native SATA 6Gb/s ports and total four USB 3.0 ports, the SABERTOOTH 990FX also brings multi-GPU configurations through both SLI and CrossFireX to bring a brand new gaming style like you’ve never experienced before.

  • newegg AMD 990FX Chipset The SABERTOOTH 990FX supports the upcoming AMD FX AM3+ multi-core processors with up to 8-core native CPU cores and delivers better overclocking capabilities with less power consumption. It features AMD Turbo CORE Technology 2.0 and accelerates data transfer rate up to 5200MT/s via HyperTransport 3.0 based system bus. This motherboard supports AMD AM3 Phenom II/Athlon II/Sempron 100 series processors and AMD AM3+ CPUs in the new 32nm manufacturing process.
  • newegg CeraM!X - Heatsink Coating Tech. 50% larger area for heat dissipation with the revolutionary ceramics-coating technology! Innovative ceramics effectively conducts heat away from the system. It replaces traditional anti-oxidant to dissipate heat better with its microscopic irregular surface and enlarged area. Better cooling leads to overall improvement in system stability.
  • newegg TUF Thermal Radar - Real Time Temp Detection and Heat Removal TUF's Thermal Radar monitors temps in critical parts of the motherboard in real time, automatically adjusting fan speeds to make sure the system maintains high stability without overheating. It consists of multiple sensors for various components on the motherboard, giving users the ability to monitor each one individually. The Thermal Radar automatically calculates ideal fan speeds based on different parameters selected by users for each component, keeping everything cooler and longer lasting.

5 out of 5 eggsRock Solid Motherboard

Pros: This board has been rock solid. Been through 2 different processors. multiple heat sinks and a water cooler, and have had no issues whatsoever. Purchased in 2011, and been running solid since. Will definitely purchase another Sabertooth with my next build (Though it will probably be of the Intel flavor :P)

Cons: Would have liked a few more SATA connectors, and more than 2 USB 3.0 connectors on the back :P

Also i want the new all over thermal system the new Sabertooth's have! (Guess ill have to upgrade ;)

Other Thoughts: Would not hesitate to purchase another Sabertooth (or ASUS board)

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Mobo

Pros: I've owned and used this motherboard for 3 years now and it hasn't missed a beat! The uefi is pretty great. I was able to overclock my fx6100 from 3.3ghz to 4.3ghz without messing with voltages. And it was running smooth at that. I now have my processor overclocked to 4.5ghz and its been doing great. the Sabertooth motherboard line seems fantastic and i would recommend it to anyone now.

Cons: none at the time it came out. It's older now, so get a newer one!

5 out of 5 eggsBest mobo I have ever owned.

Pros: Been running this board for 3 years now without any issues. It's seen 2 different CPUs, 3 different cases, 2 different heatsinks and a liquid cooler, a bunch of SSDs and HDDs, an AMD graphics card and an nvidia card during that time. The BIOS is top-notch and you have the option to run Crossfire or SLI.

Cons: None.

1 out of 5 eggsDon't buy ASUS

Pros: The BIOS were pretty.

Cons: This piece has been eating my hardware one part at a time. First PS, then LAN port died, than the RAM ports, today it was my $400 SSD DRIVE! Not only did I lose the drive itself, the data on it. A year ago when this problem started, ASUS said they had no record of the serial number. I took a picture of the serial and emailed it to them with no response. As I type this, I have never been angrier than I am now. I make my living off of my PC and now it's completely dead. My first mistake and perhaps my biggest, was thinking, "it CAN'T be the MB, its ASUS." This thing has been a nightmare and has destroyed all of the hardware that was attached to it aside from my video card, 1 internal seagate, and 1 CD ROM. But because of everything with it, I can't risk using any of the old hardware. this thing has devastated me.

Other Thoughts: Never again. It will take me so long to get enough money to get even close to where I was.

5 out of 5 eggsOver three years now

Pros: Still running not any hint of a problem.

Cons: I don't have an excuse to upgrade my computer

Other Thoughts: I have had this motherboard since 10/6/2011. It has not given me any trouble even after 2 CPU upgrades, 2 video card upgrades, several BIOS upgrades and at least 3 hard drive upgrades. I might try one more CPU upgrade. The only real negative is that they stopped upgrading the BIOS to accept newer AM3+ socket AMD CPUs. The best I can do is an 8350.

2 out of 5 eggsGreat board BAD Warranty!

Pros: Worked very well till it didn't! Then got to find out the great ASUS warranty that everyone loves so much!

Cons: ASUS Warranty! watching all the reviews on youtube, there is one thing none of the reviewers ever bring up, and that is ASUS'es unreliable warranty department! I thought I bought a 5 year warranty with this board and guess what! GOOD LUCK WITH THAT! I hope if you do get a ASUS board it ether is DOA that way Newegg will send you a direct replacement, because if you have owned it past the newegg return policy, you are going to be stuck with a dead board!

Manufacturer Response:

Greetings,

I am sorry that you are having issues with the motherboard.

If I may, I would like to help. Have you set up a RMA for the motherboard yet? If not, I would be happy to set it up for you. Just send me an email, and I will make sure to contact you back as soon as possible. 3723800.

Thank you,

1 out of 5 eggsWorst purchase of 2011

Pros: Specs are great, concept is award winning on paper.

Cons: Poor thermic design. Constantly overheats and shuts down, 3 RMA's in 2 years.

Other Thoughts: I loved this board when I first got it. After a year the unit constantly shut off from overheating. Water cooling upgrades, RMA's, nothing has kept this unit's vcore temps to an acceptable level. Won't buy another ASUS motherboard ever again, especially not early revisions.

Manufacturer Response:

Greetings,

I am sorry that you are having issues with the motherboard. Since you posted this review response, has this case been resolved yet? If not, please contact me through email, and we can discuss this case further. 3727264.
