1 out of 5 eggsI see a pattern here! ASUS*

Pros: Worked great for over a year THEN BAM! One ram slot went out. I got the regular blah blah supprt and was willing to deal with the loss of 4gb of 16gb ddr-3 just so I didn't have to RMA the build and within 2 months all ram slots were dead... Still fighting for RMA# WITH ASUS!

Cons: STARTED DROPPING RAM SLOTS LIKE FLYS. IT STARTED AT ONE , THEN ALL FOUR STOPPED READING MEMORY PERIOD.ASUS SUPPORT GAVE ME SOME WALK THREW HARHAR AND I EXCEPTED THE LOSS OF FIRST RAM SLOT. NOW I HAVE LOST USE OF ALL FOUR AND AFTER READING ALL THE OTHER PEOPLE THAT PURCHASED THIS MOBO AND ARE HAVING THE SAME RESULT I FIND IT IRONIC THAT ASUS PUTS US THREW THE MILL TO GET AN RMA# EVEN THOUGH I SEE THEY RESPOND WITH HOW SORRY THEY ARE THE AFTER SALES SUPPORT IS HORRID* I HOPE YOU HUNG ON TO YOUR BOX'S PEOPLE!!!! SERIALS AND OTHER PROOF THAT THEY HAVE TAKEN OUR MONEY, KNOW IT, AND ARE PULLING TEETH TO GET AN RMA!

Other Thoughts: I now need two mobos for an AMD FX-8150 and an AMD Phenom Quadcore.... Remember this is not neweggs fault * Newegg has helped me by sending my original invoice and serial that Asus so badly needs even though they have all that and more then enough to issue an RMA# on a known faulty item! Shame on you ASUS !!!! i ALSO TOOK A LOOK AT THE RETURN POLICY AS I AM LOOKING FOR NEW MOBOS AND SEE ASUS DOESN'T EVEN HAVE STANDARD RETURN ON THE SABERTOOTH R2.0 AS DOES GIGABYTE I noted in a side by side of the gigabyte fx supported models and the sabertooth r2.0 !?

Manufacturer Response:

3 out of 5 eggsMixed emotions...

Pros: Easy install and setup. Bios a breeze to flash and lots of options...Literally can overclock itself.

Cons: Must force DDR-1600 ram to run and 1600 in bio or runs at 1333 by default. After more then a year had to call tech support after losing use of one memory slot and within 2 months all 4 are now not reading ANY DDR- 1333,1600,or any other system memory. Upon calling Asus support I was told this could not be trouble shot and must RMA as this "mem ok" feature is a wide spread issue* Sadly even after excepting the loss of the initial ram slot and not wanting to tare down the entire system I have to do just that.

Other Thoughts: I think I will stick to what works and let others try the new items and see the reviews! Until this I was more leaning towards OTHER mobo's AS MY LAST 5 BUILDS WERE NOT ASUS so I am very much looking forward to what the Sabertooth 990FX 2.0 has to offer per "reviews" I WILL HAVE THIS UNCERTAINTY EVEN AFTER A YEAR AS TO WHAT MAY HAPPEN....Now I have an AMD FX-8150 chip and an AMD Phenom quadcore both AM3+ so looking on newegg now and decided to write this just incase I could help anyone else in this regard. Don't think it is your ram as I had several new boxed ram new here to try so just call and get support or RMA.

5 out of 5 eggsHad 2 years now

Pros: This board is worth every penny. For the active gamer like myself or anyone who wants a build that will last a good long while. Easy install, great Bios system, and you can download the Asus program that monitors board temperature and lets you toggle fan speed. I'm not going to list the specs of my build cuz the board is designed to function with the old and newer CPU's. Gives you all the room you need for your cards and has up to 5 fans you can plug directly into it.

Cons: None.

5 out of 5 eggsJust a breeze ! Very durable !

Pros: One of the best and easiest builds for me to date ! Not to mention this MB is something that I would 5 egg all day ! Its amazing and does amazing things. Overclockability is a cake walk even for a newer tech or just a geek this mb coupled with the phenom quadcore or the FX-8150 both of which I have built this board really lets you get into the good part of playing with PC's or even just the durablity of this MB makes it worth every penny and after having it for awahile I realize what an amazing board it really is ! 5 eggs ! I think I might get the newer version ofthis same board for myself ! I think there are two or three more Sabertooth boards but all have more and more things to boggle the mind ! ;) Love this MB!

Cons: nope I can not fine one issue to call a con ! period *

Other Thoughts: again like the gigabyte ud3h I still have to set the ram to 1600 or anything over 1333 for some reason, most of the boards I have used will not about set to 1600 or ablove . It has to be done in bios or default is 1333mhz which isn't what I want when the ram I have is 1600 mhz or above. I don't know anyone that wanst to go slower when its not nessessary...

5 out of 5 eggsVery impressive MB !

Pros: Very easy to use. Bios is to die for ! The durability is dumbfounding. You can overclock until your hearts content without fear of breaking anything. Worst case you take out battery, unplug power supply from mb ,and go to it again ! lol I love the Gigabyte mb I have got from newegg durable series but, this one takes the cake*

Cons: One of my memory slots is not working after first year but, I AM TOO LAZY TO REMOVE MB TO REPLACE! LOL I had 16bg now only showing 12 ddr3 1600 ripjaw series OC. Why do we have to OC 1600mhz ram to get 1600mhz ? : / Anyone ?

Other Thoughts: The OC ability is amazing. I have theAMD- FX-8150 8-core and there is just not boundries as to what settings I can set and maintain* 4.1GHZ 34* W/O LOAD ...XFX r7770 pci-e card best_buy .. lol Sorry I was in a hurry !! Just an after thought do not use AOD+ ASUS AI Suite II software or AI Suite II software+ bios Digi-VRM / Evo at same time as it will cause cRAsh after crash and leave you wondering why . Use whichever you want just not together unless you are very experienced systems architect with OC XP.... Thanks for reading ! Thanks again Newegg !

5 out of 5 eggsBuild like a Tank!

Pros: It has been running 24/7 for over a year. With Win 7 Pro if I do not turn it off it just keeps on going. It has taken all my changes and equipment with out argument. I even put it in a 4U case. Stays cool with 3rd party heat sink 2x60mm rear exhaust, 2x80mm intake fans. We also use the PSU to exhaust the interior.

Cons: None that I am aware of other than a problem handling 1866 memory when using 4 slots and 32 gigs.

Other Thoughts: Would like more USB 3.0 outs, firewire and thunderbolt port onboard..

2 out of 5 eggsGreat board if you get one that works, and lasts.

Pros: Worked great for about 6 months then all the ram slots except 1 died. This was the first of three 990fx based motherboards I've had in a 2 year period, and each has had a unique memory based problem. And judging by the reviews here, if it's not DOA, and if it doesn't fail on you, it's a great board. Mine still works, just with 1 stick of RAM.

Cons: Broke outside of the Newegg RMA period, and ASUS's RMA path is so abysmal I gave up on trying to swap it since I'm focusing on RMAing another ASUS 990fx based motherboard that I recently bought that after a month decided to reserve half my ram and refuse to run it in DDR 1866, even though it did so flawlessly for 30+ days. Some googling shows this is a known problem (search ram 7.92 usable), and the people who've fixed the problem did so by getting a replacement.

Other Thoughts: I expect more from a motherboard in this pricing tier. I don't want to point blame at ASUS as I have a i5 with a ASUS mb that's always ran great, and it runs the ram the 990fx boards won't, even tho they're on the QVL, correctly. Also you see tons of DOA comments in the Gigabyte and ASROCK reviews as well. It's something with the 990fx platform that's at fault.

ASUS's fault lies in their support being terrible. I'm a bigtime ASUS customer and everything was sunshine and rainbows until something broke. Trying to get a replacement is a real horror show, and they have a habit of sending out refurbs. Guess they have tons of them.

1 out of 5 eggsJunk board with junk service

Pros: Looks cool

Cons: Died after 11 months of use, got an rma through ASUS and shipped it to them, got the board back and still does not work, on rma # 2.

Other Thoughts: when I called and asked ASUS what they replaced, all I got was, I don't know from customer service.

Manufacturer Response:
