5 out of 5 eggsFantastic Board

Pros: Fantastic board, easy install, had some problems installing my hyper 212 evo heatsink to this board, but other then that it's a great board. No problems!

Cons: None, son.

Other Thoughts: Get it, or else.

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: best features for the best price

Cons: It worked great for a while but would freeze at bios boot screen. Sent it back to Asus then i got it back and none of the PCi slots work. So I sent it back to Asus now the USB 3.0 slots don't work and sometimes when I shut it down it will freeze and blast static through the speakers.

Other Thoughts: i have purchased this MB from another vendor and want to leave a comment here.

1 out of 5 eggsterrible support

Pros: Motherboard was great while it lasted

Cons: Support department did nothing to help resolve my issue.

Other Thoughts: After about a year of using this motherboard, it burned up between the bottom PCI express port and the IE1394 port. I submitted it under warranty for replacement, and weeks later they said they would not be honoring their warranty and claimed that I caused the damage, even though I had nothing plugged into either one of those ports. Their support department is terrible and does absolutely nothing to satisfy or retain their customers. will never buy from ASUS again.

5 out of 5 eggsQuite amazing

Pros: -High quality parts
-LOTS of I/O options
-Amazingly customizable UEFI BIOS (incredibly easy to update as well)
-Plenty of thermal sensors easily readable by the included software
-Included software provides a plethora of extremely useful options. (Do install!)
-Sleek look
-Good thermal dissipation
-Overclocking options galore (if overclocking fails, easily reset as well)

Cons: -(personal) I've had a tad of trouble with the SATA 3Gb/s connectors
-(personal) Not as many SATA connectors as I'd have liked

Other Thoughts: If you have a longer Graphics card, it will likely hang over the south-bridge heatsink, and your SATA connectors. Though it doesn't seem to hamper either.

Simply put. I love it. A solid product, worth of any computer.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Overall Board

Pros: Overclocks easily, runs cool, color scheme, xmp compatible

Cons: odd placement for usb3 header, could not run raid on secondary drives at all.

Other Thoughts: Great board.
6870
fx-8120
3 hdd 1 boot ssd 1 opt
antec h20 cooler

runs smoothly and overclocks fairly well and easily without alot of excess heat produced. But after about 2 weeks of trouble shooting there was no way to get raid set up 2 of my secondary drives. As a primary boot drive the raid would work but I've had other asus boards that allowed me to raid secondary drives on the main sata controller. Sucks but there are other ways to secure back ups of my info. 4 eggs.

5 out of 5 eggsA year and a half later..

Pros: It's been over a year and a half (bought this when it was on sale during black friday in 2011) and it's been running without one issue since day one. Using this with my PII 720 got my overclock to 3.6ghz with stock voltage and running strong still.

Cons: only real con i can think of is where the sata connecters are, might have been better if they faced outward instead of pointing towards my drivecage.

Other Thoughts: none, best motherboard i've ever owned. and 3 and a half years of warranty left woo

1 out of 5 eggsGood Board but will not support just about anything but DDR3 1333

Pros: This is a great board. Second only to the crosshair boards that are excessively expensive. Also like the old MVP boards I believe them to be the best. I have seen too many of the crosshair boards burn out. Everything is well labeled and easy to put together in a good case. Asus makes the best IMO and they have the right to charge a little extra for it. With price comes value in most cases. This one included except for the Ram issue.

Cons: This board reverts any ram I have tried in it to ddr3 1333 and If you try to change it to anything else in the bios without a manual fsb overclock it will result in an "Overclock failed, press f1 to continue" error and automatically set it back to 1333 mhz. I don't know if that is the board or the amd fx990 chipset or the amd fx-8350 itself but it is very misleading to the customer that buys this board. I bought the ram that newegg recommended with it and it doesn't work properly. That Is why this excellent board is getting one star from me. If Asus or AMD or anyone wants to fix this than I will gladly make this board a 5 star but until then my judgement stands.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

Sorry to hear about the issue you had with the motherboard. The Sabertooth 990FX supports: 4 x DIMM, Max. 32GB, DDR3 1866/1600/1333/1066 Hz ECC, Non-ECC, Un-buffered Memory (https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/SABERTOOTH_990FX/#specifications). The fastest RAM that is supported by the board and CPU is 1866MHz so there should't be issue running at that speed. Please try updating the BIOS to the latest version, press F5 to load BIOS defaults, or clear CMOS using onboard jumper which should put BIOS settings back to original values. "Overclock failed..." error is a fail-safe design on this motherboard that helps BIOS to still POST after using incompatible BIOS setting. If you'd like to continue support or have other questions, please contact me below. Thank you.

4 out of 5 eggsQuick Question!

Pros: I got this board about a year ago and im still loving it! But just saw that the AMD FX 8350 came out. Could this board use this CPU or do I have to buy another one?

Cons: just a question

5 out of 5 eggsBeast of a Motherboard

Pros: This is the BEST motherboard out there for a AMD CPU gaming rig. This motherboard can handle everything you can throw at it! It also has MemOK! which can sink two different kind of RAM sticks, which is AWESOME!

Cons: NONE!

Other Thoughts: Asus makes top of the line products, so you can be sure that you're buying a great piece of tech!
