3 out of 5 eggsAnother failed NIC

Pros: Is a very well equipped board for the money. Running a Athlon II X4 and it is solid.

Cons: Onboard NIC failed after 4 months. Card is detected by the OS, but will not establish a link. Was working fine, and then just quit. Tried other cables, other ports, and ultimately just put a PCIe card in. It is working fine.

Other Thoughts: I have sent a message to ASUS; we will see how they handle this.

2 out of 5 eggsWould be great (If it worked)

Pros: -Great and easily marked connection ports
-On-board GPU is decent until you reach 1920x1080

Cons: -Did not read an IDE DVD-ROM and I had to purchase a SATA DVD to even install an OS.
-Now the mobo will not detect any Graphics Cards I install. I've tried both an ATI Radeon HD 4870 and an nVidia GTX260 core 216 and both will not be recognized no matter what I've tried. (Both cards worked in another machine however and my 700W power unit is regulating fine)

Other Thoughts: If you have this mobo and installed a GPU, I'd love to hear any advice if there is some weird trick to have it be detected. If I can't figure it out soon I'll need to accept the loss and buy a new mobo just to have my new GPU work.

1 out of 5 eggsGot 2, neither worked

Pros: Newegg's return policy!

Cons: Ordered one, didn't work. RMAd for another, that one didn't work, either. Switching to Gigabyte this time until ASUS gets its act together and improves its quality control.

Other Thoughts: First board immediately powered up without touching "power on" jumper. No video. After a few minutes of working, heard a loud "pop" and everything shut down. No longer worked at all. Switched to a different power supply, still didn't work. Probably fried first power supply as voltages were no longer correct, had to replace power supply as well as RMA a new motherboard.
Second one started better - accepted a "power-on" jumper to start. However, still no video, no beeps from attached speaker. Only power led and fans came on. Assembled on bench outside of case. Removed everything, testing at each stage, including all peripherals and connections, then ram, finally cpu. No beeps, no video, only the blasted power led on the board came on (and the cpu fan, when connected). 20 hours later, giving up and ordering a different brand (I should get 5 stars for persistence!).

5 out of 5 eggsEasy install

Pros: Very easy to install in Thermaltake Case.

No drivers issues even on first boot.

Fan power/speed connections not in tight fitting places.

Everything installed on this Mobo very easily.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Used in my first PC build

3 out of 5 eggsHit and Miss

Pros: Bought two. One works FABULOUS!

Cons: Bought two. One was DOA.

Other Thoughts: The MB in my computer works flawlessly. Not a single problem, just make sure you get a case with one heck of a ventilation system.

The MB in my husbands computer on the other hand...
The first one was DOA. I returned it and got a replacement. The second board BARELY works.

It runs too hot, over heats easily. It's EXTREMELY picky on RAM. It doesn't always read Hard Drives. and it's finicky about the graphics cards and drivers.
Both of us have the exact same hardware, and have tried interchanging hardware to attempt to narrow down the problem, and we have deducted that it is the Motherboard itself.

GREAT motherboard if you're lucky and get a good one. Otherwise, I wouldn't risk buying this particular one again.

Newegg was awesome though and had the replacement for the DOA to me in three days.

5 out of 5 eggsGood buy.

Pros: Looks good.
Plenty of features.
Integrated graphics works well for what I need. (I'm not a gamer).

Cons: As others have mentioned, the SATA ports are rather close to the PCI-E slot, so I can see how a long card would interfere.

Other Thoughts: I bought this board as part of a combo with 4GB of G-Skill a333 RAM, and added an Athlon II X2, all for under $200.00. I was looking for something to replace my aging (read ancient) Athlon XP 2500+ rig. This seems to have filled the bill. I already had a pair of 500 GB SATA HDs, 750 watt power supply, case and etc. I had everything up and running within four hours with Mandriva Linux 2010 Spring X86_64. So far it's stable and running well. I guess we'll just have to see if any problems arise like NIC failure and so on. It's running cool and stable for now. It's suchan improvement over my old box, that I wish I could have convinced my better half that a quad core would have been worth it. :-)

5 out of 5 eggsEggcellent mobo

Pros: Too many features to list. It is simply a great board. I've always used Asus and Epox and none have failed me. Too bad Epox disappeared.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: None

5 out of 5 eggsno problems yet

Pros: I was a bit uneasy about getting this board considering all the strange audio problems and ethernet ports burning out. I'm glad to say I got lucky and have had neither these issues nor any others yet.

I paired this up with the phenom II x6 processor and 1600mhz ram. Definitely read up on some of these reviews and links to set your ram and processor up correctly. You have to update your bios before this board will recognize all six cores, but with bios flash it's easy!

Cons: I wish the board was truly ready for dual graphics cards. The second slot really doesn't have the space you need to use two good cards.
