5 out of 5 eggsFirst Asus

Pros: Nice heat sinks on board, Bios has tons of great features, put it all together and it worked fine with no problems!

Cons: Sata ports, hate it when they face the side and not face upward makes plugging things in a real pain in the but.

Only complaint....

Other Thoughts: Great to use with a phenom II 940

5 out of 5 eggsAMAZING System Board

Pros: Smooth install, tons of options, plenty of room to work. The power switch integrated onto the mobo is an awesome idea! Saves a ton of time when testing a system during the build. I have built two systems with this board, soon to be three, and I have had no issues whatsoever. Overclocking software is pretty cut & dry, and it works very well. Do not question the purchase of this mobo, you will not be disappointed!

Cons: original drivers were a bit dated.

Other Thoughts: grab latest drivers from asus usa.

5 out of 5 eggsCool board, best out for AM2+

Pros: Solid, no problems with overclocking. Very nice features in BIOS. Not prohibitive at all - or cryptic. Tons of options for Overclocking if you so desire. Also, handling 8 GB of DDR2 1066 (Corsair Dominator) without any instability issues.

Cons: doesn't distill whiskey.

Other Thoughts: System:
AMD PhenomII 940 3Ghz OC'd to 3.7Ghz
8GB Corsair Dominator DDR2 1066 OC'd to 1100

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great

Pros: Had a M3A32MVP and I had stability issues witch culminated in an RMA due to dead IDE SATA controller chip.(that is what ASUS told me) I got this before I sent the other board in and it has work flawlessly. I have the Phenom 2 X4 940 (BLACK) running stable at 3.8 GHZ at 1.5 V. I water cool but still have 2 120mm case fans to keep the board cool. No heat issue at all.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: If you don't go crazy with BIOs settings it is easy ti get a stable OC for every day use.

5 out of 5 eggsWorth the money

Pros: Works great with Phenom II X4 940, BIOS is easy to use, and the layout is phenominal. I will never buy any other brand of motherboard.

Cons: Pretty much just the price, but you get what you pay for.

Other Thoughts: Also, the PCI slots don't seem to match up perfectly with my Antec 900 case, but it's not that far off.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Stable and very overclockable. Allows me to run my 9850BE at 3.2 GHz (22x14.5) without any hiccups.

Cons: Poor quality onboard sound. Interference even with a PCI sound card, both in Vista and Linux which suggest its a hardware problem, probably related to the onboard NIC.

3 out of 5 eggsGreat board bad customer service

Pros: Great motherboard! I am not going to say its future proof but you wont need to upgrade for a while.

Cons: Had to send the Mobo back for repair. I just got a lemon, bad luck I guess. But the problem here resides with Asus and their customer service. Personally I would rather deal with an automated service than deal with them again. If you send your mobo back be prepared to wait over a month. Just to find out if they were going to repair my motherboard took about 2 weeks.

Other Thoughts: Although it's a good board, I might end up buying from another company. I can't imagine how much money they lose due to bad customer service. I think they should take a lesson from newegg. Their RMA service is awesome!

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

We apologize for the negative expereience that you had while your board is being repaired. We will incorporate your feedback and ensure that this won't happen again in the future. For RMA status, you can contact us at 510-739-3777 or use our online support at livesupport.asus.com .
Best Regards,

ASUS Support Team

5 out of 5 eggsSweet Board

Pros: Nice board...Lots and lots of options...quite a few overclocking features.

I have an ASUS P2 440BX chipset from a computer that I built out in 1997 that's still kicking...but at 100FSB and limited to 1.1GHZ it was slowing me down.

I've tried to replace that ASUS box with an MSI and a Gigabyte board...both boards never made it past the 4 year mark....so this time, I've come back home to ASUS.

Plenty of USB ports on the board...and the placement of the extra header up by the AM2 socket is in a perfect location.

Cons: The AI software that ships with the board is useless.

Also, while there are a lot of overclocking options...the steps that are available in the BIOS are not gradient enough for really tight tweaking.

Other Thoughts: I always run a media card/floppy combo on the front of all my boxes now...(I make pre-boot PXE disks at work, so floppies are still of use to me) and that floppy connector is WAAY far away from the front of the board......had to rummage through old parts to find a cable long enough.

Some people complain about the right angle on the SATA ports....I have to admit that I found it difficult to connect...but they make it easier to get all those sata cables out of the way once the case is buttoned up.

Can't wait to upgrade to a Quad this Summer...and I'll probably buy another of these as a familiar home for Dual Core I've got.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks like a champ

Pros: Multiple vpu's. Good cpu compatibility. Drivers work well and make the system faster than other MB drivers would normally in my experience.

Cons: Not a con of the board but just bad luck. One of my Usb ports doesn't really connect 90% of the time. But doesn't bother me enough to knock a star. lol

Other Thoughts: Used with xp32, vista64, and fedora32. Each work great overall. The bad usb port doesn't bother me because with the same order I bought a 4 port usb pci card. This adds 4 more ports for my printer, Ipod, camera and other junk later down the road. I use the actual board Usb ports for my keyboard cuz it takes two and I plug my mouse into the slot on the keyboard.

3 out of 5 eggsWorked for a bit

Pros: Was good while it worked. Some nice features.

Cons: Bios locked after only a month, asus tech support was friendly and its on its way back for a replacement so I'll write new review when i actually get to use it a bit. Coulndt get my ocz ram to run stable at 1066 but not sure if that was due to the board or ram itself

Other Thoughts: The RMA proccess sucks and makes the board cost an extra 40$ due to shipping it back.
