5 out of 5 eggsMy First Build

Pros: This board has all that I needed and more, Though I will have to get an IDE adapter for an old hard drive. Installation was simple by just following the instructions. I used a mid tower case and there's lots of room for airflow and an octopus of power cables.
I love the instant on feature, I am a student and always seem to have a last moment question before I rush to class. It only takes seconds to ask the internet, even when the computer is off.

Cons: The I/O cover is trash, literally.

Other Thoughts: I am adding some other Asus products to my system

2 out of 5 eggsI was mislead

Pros: Cheapest AMD board with PCI-E x16 2.0 for my budget PC build. Asus

Cons: I purchased this motherboard along with 4 x1 gb DDR2 1066 RAM. I was really (insert negative word here) to learn when reading the manual that "Due to AMD limitations the RAM will only run at 800 when installing 4x 1066 sticks for system stability".

Also, when I plugged in my brand new mouse into one of the rear USB ports the plastic piece that's inside the USB port came off and was stuck in my mouse! That port is now useless. That's a first for me!

Other Thoughts: So I paid extra money for the 1066 RAM when I could've bought 800 for cheaper. What a load of (insert negative word here)!! That should be clearly stated on the product description or product specs!

I'm not going to bother RMA'ing it because I don't feel like taking the whole computer apart and I can just use one of the other USB ports.

5 out of 5 eggsStill going strong

Pros: This is a yearly update. I have built 2 HTPC's with this board and both have been totally troublefree. Have been totally happy with how upgrades and different components work with these. Have used several CPU's and memory and all have worked well. One of the systems has been used for trying out the Windows 7 betas and RC versions.

Cons: The one problem was with some high voltage ram that the motherboard would not put enough voltage in. That memory did run fine at lowered speed.

Other Thoughts: Quality motherboard at a great price.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I have this in my custom build that I built back in April '09 and have not had any major issues at all. Everything works and the computer started up the very first time with absolutely no issues.

Cons: Startup is not lightning fast, but I never expected it to be. Its not even worth knocking off an egg off the rating, honestly. It does exactly what I need it to do and I have no complaints to really speak of.

Pros: Great overclocking features, inexpensive.
I've had no problems with this motherboard since I got it. The C.P.R (CPU Parameter Recall) has allowed for less worry when overclocking.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: If you are not running the latest BIOS, then update it. I gained around 300 points on the 3DMark Vantage. The Asus Update Tool made it easy, no floppy needed.

5 out of 5 eggsawsome!

Pros: 6 sata port's very good for a mid-level gaming rig can use many of the newer cpu's.

Cons: depending which angle you put your heatsink&fan it can block one of the bottom ram slot's that's if you have an attached fan and the resister's on the mobo can easly pop off if you slip and hit one.

Other Thoughts: It is a good board for what you pay for you can update the bios and use the newer cpu's 8gig's of ram when i got it was for sale for about $89.99 somewhere else,it has been a good board through out the yr.it can handle almost anything i have put this board to the test many time's and it has came through like a champ many time's if you looking for a cheap and easy board this is your pick might not have sli but who care's running 2 card's on a system is a lil over board if you can't get the job done with one then stop trying to.

5 out of 5 eggsLove it

Pros: Reliable, plenty of SATA, fits in case easily (mATX). Good chipset. All in all, a very good deal; this makes for a great mid-level gaming motherboard.

Cons: Only one PCIe x16 2.0 slot, and no OC in BIOS, but that's not enough to take a star off. I don't have the money for another video card anyway.

Other Thoughts: Bought this to replace a Biostar TForce TA770A2, which has a VERY specific supported memory list (it gave specific model numbers). Couldn't find any of the memory on that list ANYWHERE, so I bought this. At the time, it was $15 cheaper.

3 out of 5 eggsProblems w/ external video card

Pros: As most people said lots of SATA ports

Cons: Major problem I have with this board is that we cannot install an external video card. We have tried 3 different cards and the system will not reconize any of them. Of course all 3 of these were Nvidia cards and the onboard is ATI. I am trying now to borrow an ATI card from a friend to test and please do not let me find out that I can only install ATI cards with this board.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

We apologize for this issue you are experiencing. The issue most likely doesn't have to do with the VGA card being nVidia or ATI. Please contact us at http://vip.asus.com/eservice/techserv.aspx or 812-282-2787 and reference case number NE603421 so that we may get more details about your system configuration and assist you with resolving this issue.

3 out of 5 eggsRAID drivers

Pros: The motherboard has run well so far. There are a ton of SATA connectors.

Cons: I can't load the raid controller on Windows 7. If you are planning on buying this for all of those lovely SATA ports to create a RAID, don't plan on using windows 7

Manufacturer Response:
