5 out of 5 eggsASUS board = quality

Pros: A very small board, this will fit in a mini-tower with no problem. Onboard video allows a very clean build. If you put this in a case with power supply on the bottom you'll have very little wiring running around the interior.

Cons: None so far. Everything works well so far.

Other Thoughts: This board runs well with older CPU, memory, etc. for a budget box or very good general-use desktop PC. I built a PC for a friend with an older AMD X2 7850 CPU and hand-me-down DDR2 memory. I feel confident with an ASUS board for this purpose

5 out of 5 eggsDoes what it's supposed to

Pros: Running Win7 64 bit Ultimate with an X2 5200 CPU, 4 G of hyperX 800, 1.8 TB on 3 HD, Displayed HDMI on a 37" Vizio. Even with stock on board video ran without a hiccup...once I put in Ram from the Qualified Vendor list^^. I run a lot of hi def videos in odd formats. handled perfectly.

Cons: Yeah, pay attention to the QVL.

Other Thoughts: Did I mention, pay attention to the QVL? Why are MB without video on board more expensive than ones with? The on board video is perfectly adequate for HDMI...but I've never really liked the shared video scheme, so I did put in a nice upgrade video card. If you put in a high end CPU, the stock video will drag it down. BTW, why does ASUS have different panel connections from the other Taiwanese makers?

5 out of 5 eggsReliable board, had for years

Pros: Decent on-board graphics, HDMI, D-sub, and DVI output on-board, supports 8GB 1066 MHz RAM, AM2+ 64 compatible,
just a great card for a simple, mid to high machine.

Worked great for 2+ years so far.

Cons: Really small. My ASUS Geforce GTS 250 barely fits on the board. A little hard to get my power rails in order to optimize airflow, but I pulled it off with a little help from Velcro straps. :D

Other Thoughts: My dad put a box together for my birthday almost 3 years ago with this mobo and I've had it ever since. Still satisfied and I'm not finding a suitable upgrade for any decent price right now. Just as well, if it's not broke, don't fix it, right?

Solid board, great buy. I highly recommend it.

5 out of 5 eggscould not really ask for more

Pros: Bought for htpc set up. Came recommended for Linux/AMD 64. Everything went as smooth as can be. Great price for what you get. Boards offering similar functions available at higher price point. Not the newest but perfect for what I wanted. Onboard NVIDIA GeForce 8 drives 1080i Samsung no problem.

Cons: NVIDIA GeForce 8 drivers for Ubuntu Karmic work fine (much better that "fine" actually) but had to go thru very simple procedure to get proper mode selected. Start X w/ verbose output and look in xorg log to see EDID modes reported by TV then simply use this mode in xorg.conf.

No overscan compensation in 1080i for my TV. I can in 720p. Annoying but can work around if applications (Boxee, XBMC, etc.) can correct.

5 out of 5 eggsNice board

Pros: this is my first time completely changing a motherboard and placing a new one in, i had no troubles getting everything where it was supposed to go, and after everything turned on i had no troubles with it and it runs great

Cons: i didn't notice when i purchased the board that there was only one PS/2 slot for either a keyboard or mouse, so i had to run out and get myself a new USB mouse, and the CPU fan seems to be running at higher speeds than it did with my previous board, but i suppose other than the noise that's a minor issue

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent!!

Pros: Excellent Motherboard for the price. I would recommend this board to anybody building a smaller form factor computer. I'm actually thinking of buying another for a Media Center PC for the living room down the road.

Cons: The only one I have is the Hybrid SLI doesnt work with Windows 7, But thats ok my video card can handle anything I've thrown at it.

Other Thoughts: My System:

CPU: AMD Atholon X2 3800+ Overclocked to 2.2GHz
RAM: 8GBs
Video: PNY XLR8 Nvidia 9800GTX+ Overclocked
Case: Coolermaster Elite 341 with 4 120mm fans

3 out of 5 eggsDon't use it with a kvm switch!

Pros: Typical Asus; awesome board; awesome performance; I would buy another, no questions asked. I will also tell all my friends to buy Asus.

Cons: It does state "1 x ps/2 keyboard / mouse combo port". Which means you need to have a usb mouse or keyboard or both. Had I known then what I know now, I would probably have not bought it.

I said "no big deal; I'll use a ps2 splitter, and can use this box with my kvm switch". Nope; doesn't work. So now I have 2 keyboards and 2 mice on my desk, and my kvm switch has become a "v" switch.

Other Thoughts: Pay close attention to page 1-14 in the manual regarding placement of memory. It will NOT post if you don't place the dimms correctly.

The help page on the asus website should mention this in the "does not post" section, but doesn't.

3 out of 5 eggsIt's decent

Pros: The great majority of features on this board work out of the box with Ubuntu 9.04 or later. Onboard video runs OK with available Linux drivers. Good integrated analog sound (as integrated goes). DDR2 was a pro when I bought it, but price have nearly doubled now. AM3 compatible with bios upgrade. Expansion slot layout is wise (I hate when the only PCIe x1 is to the right of PCIe x16 on microATX). Updating BIOS with EZ Flash is nice. Pretty good BIOS options overall. 3 USB headers seems like plenty for a small board.

Cons: Audio over HDMI hasn't worked for me, but in fairness I don't really see the point as the sound in most TVs sucks. (I know, one cord, but for bad audio?) ExpressGate is useless if you run Linux (and I've heard it's not mind-blowing with Windows) because it installs to the OS (Windows) and not to flash memory on the board. Geforce 8200 is not powerful in general and definitely not as powerful as a 9300 for Intel boards. SATA port settings where ports 4 and 5 need a different mode is irritating. Front panel audio output won't work.

Other Thoughts: This was my first build. As I was building an Ubuntu HTPC, the selling point of the board was the chipset for use with VDPAU. After 8 months with this board, I don't think that was a good reason to buy it. It's mediocre. I could have bought a a board with a basic AMD chipset and added something like a cheap 8400GS or a 210 and come out ahead. Next time, I'm going with discrete video and audio for an HTPC build and let the motherboard focus on more important things like a cooler northbridge or SATA ports without caveats.

Pros: Motherboard installed great, booted up with no problems. Seems to be another great motherboard from ASUS. New Egg is great also, could not find better prices.

Cons: A little slow on the shipping this time, paid extra to get it quicker, took 6 days by hey things happen.
