  • newegg APS (Active Phase Switching) Active Phase Switching (APS) technology is an intelligent design that helps to save energy on MSI’s mainboards. The underlying idea is to switch off the power supply as soon as no electricity is needed, and when the system needs more resources again, APS will automatically adjust electricity supply accordingly. APS will automatically detect your processor’s loading at any given time and save energy accordingly. This is only possible by means of a very advanced power controlling technology. Other than software-based solutions, APS technology stands out from MSI's own research. The specially developed IC chip can operate automatically depending on the demands of the power supply, which is to reduce the total power usage.
  • newegg Military Class III MSI mainboards maintains the commitment to product stability and reliability by introducing Military Class III components! In addition to the use of Hi-c CAP, SFC, and Solid CAP, MSI now incorporates DrMOS II, the next-generation DrMOS that provides an integrated Double Thermal Protection to maximize the lifespan of components. All Military Class III components have passed MIL-STD-810G certification, making MSI's Military Class III components synonymous with premium quality and ultimate stability.
  • newegg Superpipe MSI introduces the SuperPipe cooling design that utilizes 8mm full copper heat-pipe, 60% thicker than traditional pipes, and is also the thickest heat-pipe in the market. • newegg V-Check Points The V-Check Points function provide power measurement pins for users to measure the CPU and RAM voltages with a multimeter. 4 out of 5 eggsGood Board.

Pros: Looks good, and gives me very few issues. Fires up very fast, and the layout is pretty nice. I bought this to replace an Asus Z77 MB that i had issues with. I am not sure which one i like better at this point. I think i like the Asus Bios better (see negative comment).

Cons: I cannot get the fan setting to stay in the Control Center. I setting the smart fan controls and then everything is great, but i shut down and they go back to the bio set speeds. Now I may not be a computer genius but should i have to be to get this to work? I say it is worth an egg. Also, from a design perspective the yellow color and text on the heatsinks is unattractive on an otherwise very well thought out board. I may go back to Asus next time, but I find this board does not have all the extra hype that i don't care about.

Other Thoughts: The USB3.0 jack does not align well in the Corsair 550D. The case has a bulge that pushes the cable head outward. I have not had issues with it though, just looks like it is coming out. That is just the case's problem. I am trading up to a Corsair Air 540.

1 out of 5 eggsMSI warranty is the reason for the post

Pros: worked for a year.

Cons: Motherboard died, sent it in for an RMA and got an email back from MSI saying they no longer have the motherboard and gave me a 100 dollar check, half the value, no board equal to the value of the board. Moving to Asus for all future purchases.

5 out of 5 eggsThe Biggest Bang

Pros: Love this board. Running it with the 3570k, OC's like a champ. BIOS has a lot of options, has a browser built in, and you can flash straight from the bios if you have internet. Reads my ram and ssd a lot better than my last board, definitely getting better speeds off of those.

Cons: Bios can be a little confusing at first

Latest Bios drivers left this board unable to recognize my lan. I thought I might have just fried my onboard lan because I wasn't careful about wiring some things, but I just cleared cmos and it worked again. I wish i had done that before I purchased a nic.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Bang

Pros: Fired right up. EZ as pie OC.ing. Fast boot time even with no ssd. Looks fantastic. Nice sata ports. Decent onboard audio. 3 PCIe slots.

Cons: Lots of fan headers but they are hard to get to,especially with more than 1 Graphics card installed.

Other Thoughts: My first MSI MB and it prolly wont be my last. So far so good.

5 out of 5 eggsNo problems so far.

Pros: Looks great, Amazing features, materials are top notch. Bios is easy to navigate and works well. OC Genie is great for people that don't want to risk overclocking on their own.

Cons: Not as many 6.0 Gb SATA ports as I would like. Can't find a full water block to fit the board (not really the boards fault but worth mentioning). Connectors for the I/O are a little out of the way for my case, needed extensions. Was not an issue for me, but if you don't run an Ivy bridge CPU you won't gain use of the third PCI-e x16 slot.

Other Thoughts: Several people complained of problems with these boards "looking used" or shipping DOA. The reason they look used is because MSI tests every one of them and burns them in for 24hours before shipping. This is one reason I chose this board. I did a whole brand new build and every component went in and fired up, first time. Has been running great ever since.

The OC Genie option built into the bios on this motherboard is a great option for people that aren't that familiar with over clocking. I turned the button on with my 3770k running stock cooling and it is running stable at 4.2ghz. Rather amazing really.

1 out of 5 eggsBad DIMM slots/DOA and still charging me for RMA

Pros: It looks nice.

Cons: The board came with 2 bad DIMM slots whereas the computer will not boot when used. I just bought this board, submitted my rebate, connected it, and found out it is bad. Now MSI wants to charge me for the shipping to RMA the product and I cannot return/exchange because of the rebate submission.

Other Thoughts: Will not buy MSI again after this board. Have an EVGA graphics card and their customer support is amazing, I will buy from them.

1 out of 5 eggsSecond review

Pros: Good board but.........

Cons: Watch your ram voltage when you set to XMP. This board put the ram voltage to 1.67 when you set to intel XMP and burn de ram. This board burn one of my ddr3 2400 stick and i have to ship all of my memory module to RMA. This is the last board i buy from MSI, I can't trust this motherboard anymore

5 out of 5 eggsGreat High End Board

Pros: Pros:
-Looks good
-Works great
-Stays cool
-Runs all my hardware with no issues
-Comes with build in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth(see cons)
-The MSI software that comes with it is honestly the nicest thing ever, downloads all drivers and keeps them updated

Cons: I did experience some bluescreens when I had the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth enabled but honestly, it is nice to have the option of Wi-Fi for if you ever need it but if I were you I would just hard wire it or buy a nicer Wi-Fi adapter, it will made a nice difference. I recommend the TP-LINK TL-WN722N as me and most of my friends have/use this and it works great.

Other Thoughts: Great mid to high end board in all
