1 out of 5 eggsFirst and Last MSI

Pros: Manufacturer's description was well-written. Box was a nice Orange.

Cons: I have always used Gigabyte board's in the past--this MSI's description made me think that perhaps I would do well to try another--MSI board was DOA--Unfortunately, I purchased in June and installed in August so my thirty days are up. I've never had a dead board before--it's a bit unnerving to lose $100. these days. I'd like to personally apologise to Gigabyte for ditching them and I hope they'll take me back--my next board will be nothing but.

Other Thoughts: I guess this experience was for the best as I am responsible for buying parts and the such for the Production Dept of two local television stations. It would have been unfortunate had I purchased ten of these for workstations and they had failed.

5 out of 5 eggsbought another

Pros: see below

Cons: see below

Other Thoughts: i wrote a review about this the first time i bought it. liked it enough to get a second for a friend's build.great motherboard.

only thing is the oc genie. why put a physical knob to twist on the mobo to overclock???its placed by the header cables making it impossible to get to.then realizing i can do the EXACT SAME THING IN THE BIOS. they shouldve made a tray that fit in where a dvd drive would go and have some kind of header cables connect to it.have that knob on there and possibly a fan controller or even a temperature reader?

5 out of 5 eggsNo Problems

Pros: Good Mobo, no issues with the install, fast, cheap, sataIII, usb 3, supports raid 5 which is a bit of a rarity, has a combination PS/2 port which is cool, worked fine with the PhenomII x6 1090T
no heat issues
2 PCI Express 2.0 x16
have not tested sli/crossfire so it is unknown how well that works

Cons: only 2 USB 3.0, i know they are not common, but i cant shake the feeling that more will be needed
The CPU felt a little close to the ram, but that might be because i put a heatsink/fan on the processor instead of liquid cooling like i normally do

Other Thoughts: You MUST enable the OC button/knob in the the bios for it to work
Never liked them too much, but they overclock the FSB, not the CPU multiplier, so there should not be many issues

2 out of 5 eggsTerrible.

Pros: Layout is neat at least.

Cons: The sound card blew after a day of use and the PCI-e card slot is loose; I had to situate the graphics card in the slot PERFECTLY to keep the fan from loosing power and BSODing my computer.

Other Thoughts: I'll stick with my ASUS. I've never had this many problems with a motherboard before.

1 out of 5 eggsDisappointed

Pros: It had potential. Would probably be a nice mobo if it actually worked.

Cons: I had this thing arrive DOA on me... twice. You could say that it cost me money taking a chance on this thing since I lost out on potential rebates PLUS I had to pay to ship this piece of junk back. Not to mention it's a pain in the rear to unhook everything once you realize that nothing is happening.

Other Thoughts: I wish I would've read some of the other reviews sooner. Many users had the same problem as me, which if you hadn't heard, the mobo doesn't display anything on the monitor even after everything is hooked up right. And it wasn't the video card, I tried more than one.

5 out of 5 eggsSo far, I'm impressed

Pros: I've been running this board 24/7 for the last 2-weeks and haven't even had so much as a hiccup. Tweaked the BIOS settings a tad to get it to see the RAM as 1600's. Been running good and strong, so far, in my Antec 900 case...

Cons: Not really a con, but I don't see much of a need for the 9-pin serial port to an average home user. PS/2 maybe, if the USB didn't work, for some reason...

Other Thoughts: I bought this "Open Box" after my old Biostar socket 940 board committed suicide (bad caps). It's running an Athlon II x3 440 Rana and 4Gb of A-Data DDR3 1600 RAM. It is powered by an Antec TruePower 650W. I did think it a bit funny to get the European user's manual, but I found the English version on their website which better detailed the BIOS settings.

5 out of 5 eggsI'm a Fan

Pros: Easy setup. Core unlocking works great. Bios has more features then I know what to do with.

Cons: The OCGenie seems to work, but it worries me a little. Seems to push some voltages into the red zone, and I'm not really of fan of that.

Other Thoughts: Totally the best bang for the buck.

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Good layout and easy enough to get up and running.

Cons: Cannot for the life of me get the power management features and fan speed under control. MSI Control center continuously crashes in Win7 x64 and even with Cool 'n' Quiet enabled the cpu and case fan speeds are not being controlled. This setup is far too loud now for the media system I purchased it for since the fans always run at full speed.

Other Thoughts: Probably going to return it for another brand board.

5 out of 5 eggsUpdate

Pros: Other thoughts.

Cons: Other thoughts.

Other Thoughts: I left a review a few ago and I mentioned the audio was having issues with cutting out.

Turns out that's not the issue out.I carefully watched and used HyperCam to record and slowly play back when Realtek comes up.I also unchecked the option to *not* mute the speakers when something is plugged into the front audio ports.

Well guess what?It happens to be my front audio port is glitchy. It thinks something is getting plugged in so when the option to mute my speakers was checked I thought my built-in sound card was the issue.Totally the opposite.

So there is NOTHING wrong with the mobo audio. It's my Antec 900 case that has the issue.I think I'll just unplug the headers in there since I never use it anyway.
