4 out of 5 eggsKeeps a Northwood running

Pros: Zero problems with Hardy. ddr2, SATA, and PCIe give my old Northwood a second wind.

Cons: No official BIOS update.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Value, Works well

Pros: A good motherboard to reuse a high-end P4 processor.
Much faster than my other/older P4 systems.

Cons: Read the Supported CPU List!
Older 433Mhz FSB processors are not supported at all.
Northwood and Prescott work just fine.

Must have a PS/2 Keyboard to start up with,
in order to enable Legacy USB in the BIOS.
Use a 40 Pin IDE cable with IDE CDROM,
I had some trouble with 80 Pin cables.

Other Thoughts: If not for the PS/2 & IDE problems, I would have rated higher. WOrks great with the MSI N9400GT-MD512H GeForce 9400 GT 512MB VGA with HDMI output for an HTPC.
The digital audio (SPDIF) connects right thru the HDMI cable with that combination - very nice with 1080i HDMI.

5 out of 5 eggsSaved $$ on Open Box

Pros: Saved money on open box. All items were included except documentation. Has all new tech. to upgrade an existing socket 478. No problems with 20pin power supply. Headers fit all connections on my Gateway case.

Cons: Can't think of any-Was not worth my time to mess with the Low ram speed...667Ram at 533....Don't care, my 2gigs is way better than previous 256megs......LOL....

Other Thoughts: Glad someone returned a perfectly good board. Added 2 gig RAM, fifteen dollar 40Gig SATA refurb, (exisiting: PATA CDROM, Gateway microTower, 2.6Ghz Pentium4 800Mhz FSB)-----SWEET-----Best 80 bucks I ever spent.....

4 out of 5 eggsMSI Emchine/PCI Express16-gamer

Pros: This board is stable and quick to in stall in a mini-mid- full tower easy to read manuel for setup and has the sweet sound you want to heare in buiness or gaming mechine. It has great lans, onboard video work like a dream, usb are sweet internal setup for front-pannel output standardized for heaphones, mic-headphone and usb. Sweet 4-Sata2 for new DVD-Blueray/HDef-HDrives and convenient placement. One set of cable for ide and sata2both for data and power adapter to sata drive recomend getting more data and power adapter cable for older style atx powwer supply upgraders.

Cons: It has only one 33mhz/66mhz/100mhz ide interface well located but the you need a longer or double floppy cagle to get the floppy drive to motherboard placement on lower middle edge. When you use a double slot video card you lose a PCI slot and there are only two. I recomend a single slot Video for those that upgrade to this MB. I recomend the saphire 3850 pci express great for this mb.

Other Thoughts: It is alway nice to have a 450Watt PCI and SLI ready power supply I recomend the 600 watt rosweel with acticve PFC short cut below http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817182088 it runn about anything you through at it.

4 out of 5 eggsPleased

Pros: -Great replacement for the stuff they put in eMachines.
-2 USB jacks for front panel use
-3 OR 4 pin CPU fan jack...

-Stable for 3 wks now.

Cons: I was barely able to make the floppy cable reach the port.

One IDE port - HDD or CD - something has to go to SATA

Other Thoughts: First one was DOA, ***but NewEgg went out of their way (above and beyond my expectations) to get me a replacement and to make sure I was able to take care of my customer.***

The family I built this for will have have some good options for upgrades in the future. They can step up to PCI-E, add more RAM, step up to SATA drives....etc. It'll be a few years before this board has lost its usefulness.

5 out of 5 eggsRunning DDR2 800 ram No overclocking

Pros: Needed an upgrade to replace my old board that ran RDRAM :(.

Onboard video scores better then expected on PCPITSTOP.COM
Every thing was easy and worked as expected.
Motherboard will run with either 20 or 24 Pin Power supply

Cons: Umm ZERO (AKA NO) overclocking in version 1.0 of BIOS.

Other Thoughts: Running 3.06 ghz 512kb L2 cache with 2 GB of DDR2 800 ram running at 667 mhz.

4 out of 5 eggsNot such a good replacement

Pros: It was one of the few boards I could find in the socket 478 form factor. There were no problems with the board, it performed without issue.

Cons: I hate the placement of the floppy port, it's really inconvenient to have to drag a cable all the way across you system. Two IDE ports would have been nice, since this board is primarily going to be replacing dead Socket 478 boards from older systems. Using this board meant either dropping in a PCI based IDE controller card, or replacing drives. I had a PCI card lying around so it wasn't a problem for me. Finally I see no point in switching to DDR-2 memory, since that meant I had to replace the DDR memory from the board I was replacing as well.

Other Thoughts: I used this board to replace a board on an e-machines computer that had died. Something always dies in e-machines computers after a few years. Check parts in this order PSU, Motherboard, CPU. If I had to do it all over again I'd have just bought the same model machine, which is going for the price of this motherboard on some auction sights, and switched the hard drives. Faster and easier, much less hassle.

1 out of 5 eggsBEWARE!!!!!!!!!!

Pros: A good board except for the 4-pin fan.

Cons: BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!! Useless 4-pin fan connector. If you don't have a 4-pin cpu fan which you probably DO NOT then do not buy. You will not be able to find a 4-pin CPU fan for a socket 478 because they have gone the way of the dinosaur. Using the old 3-pin connector in the 4-pin connector without the connection to the 4th pin will render the throttling useless and you will be stuck with what sounds like a leaf blower!

Other Thoughts: If you have a 4-pin cpu fan then have at it but if not this board is useless unless you are in a machine shop somewhere and to not care about something so load you can hear it in the other room.

5 out of 5 eggsVery nice board

Pros: Able to use my 3.0Ghz P4 I had lying around.
PCI-e

Cons: BIOS Doesn't support fastest RAM speeds without a flash. Had to find a beta bios on the support forum and flash with that. 667 on the RAM works now.

Only one IDE channel, had to get a new SATA HD. Which I planned on doing anyways.

Other Thoughts: Works well. Very pleased. Put my 8800 GTS SSC in and Crysis is very playable. (Looks good too!)
