5 out of 5 eggsGigabyte...

Pros: It does what it is suppose too. For an FM2 socket board, it really rocks and the daulBIOS feature is awesome.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Would definitely buy again and recommend for anybody wanting to build using the APUs from AMD.

4 out of 5 eggsStable and reliable so far

Pros: Stable, well thought-out design. Dual-BIOS is very handy during UPS failures (see other thoughts). Four system fan headers and a CPU fan header, five stars for that. Tons of USB headers for expansion.

Cons: Not a fan of the horizontal SATA connectors - minus one star. Firewire would have been nice.

Other Thoughts: Had my UPS die on boot up a week after the machine was assembled. The BIOS was corrupted, however the Dual-BiIOS feature repaired the wrecked BIOS without problem.

On-board analog audio is noisy, hiss and pop-corn noise. OK for listening, but unusable for recording. Haven't checked the S/PDIF though.

2 out of 5 eggsGreat board if it worked

Pros: Good quality of materials and great construction, Well labeled and easily identifyable headers. Easily mounted in computer case, with perfect alignment. The utilities offered on the support media were well thought out and valuable to people with moderate to expert skills, novices won't find much value in them.

Cons: Agonizing and irritating death. Worked great for about a week after the initial build. Then went into an unannounced reboot mode. Progressively went from one reboot a day to every 5 minutes

Other Thoughts: This was the first gigabyte motherboard I have used. Despite mixed reviews it tried it and it died. Such is the world of computers. It would be a great board if it were reliable

3 out of 5 eggsRAID, forget about it

Pros: Excellent features, ports and design. Very stable

Cons: My primary purpose in buying this MB was for a RAID array and it simply doesn't work, I'm simply unable to get the driver loaded under Windows and no support for Linux. I didn'e have this kind of problem with my previous MD, an ASROCK
USB ports don't come alive until drivers are loaded.
(I attribute the RAID problem to the UEFI BIOS and Windows 7 Pro not workng well together)

1 out of 5 eggsKeyboard Detection FAIL

Pros: Low Heat Caps
Sweet Looking
ALWAYS had great luck with GB products

Cons: I was wondering why this board came with a sticker on a USB port stating "Keyboard Here." I have NEVER had a problem with USB detection during boot. Well, this board WOULD NOT detect a keyboard. I tried wireless UBS, wired UBS, and PS2 keyboards in every available slot. No dice. After 100 reboots, I was able to magically get the windows disc to spin without changing the boot drive order. Installed and updated windows. Updated BIOS. STILL could not detect during boot! So no BIOS for me. I am running a Samsung 840 Pro SSD and NEED to change the SATA settings to AHCI. Nope, can't do it! RMA'd as warranty and went with different manufacturer. Gigabyte, why have you forsaken me?

Other Thoughts: Coming form a Gigabyte lover, skip this board.

Manufacturer Response:

Thank you for your comments. Honest and constructive opinions are always welcome. We apologize for your difficulty with your GIGABYTE product.

Due to a hardware limitation in the Etron EJ168 USB3.0 chipset, the USB ports will not be active until the driver is loaded in your OS. The sticker is help identify which USB ports are native AMD chipset controlled and will function during post/BIOS mode.

3 out of 5 eggsPCIEX4 warning

Pros: aside from the shocker in the con below this is an excellent board. 3 eggs given due to the shocker.

Cons: had a GPU in the PCIEX4 slot and upon removal the X16 PCIE slot came off the motherboard with the card. motherboard was sitting on top of the retail box and the only thing holding it down was the back of my fingers. i don't consider myself a weakling but seriously.

Other Thoughts: in comparison i took my deceased DFI 790FXB-M2RSH, installed it into an Antec 300 case and tried to pop any of its PCIE slots off by using a flat head screwdriver underneath their clips and pressing such down on top of the expansion slots. the PCB flexed but none of its slots didn't come off.

5 out of 5 eggsOverheating CPU Maybe

Pros: I love this motherboard and the look of it, everything SEEMS to be going fine.

Cons: I bought this with an A10 5800K CPU and a GeminII S524 Heatsink/fan cooler. On stock clocks it is idling around 40C and peaking around 90C under load. What bothers me is the stock heatsink hits these same temps. I'm not overclocking any thing, and I'm not sure if it is a sensor or the motherboard that is bad that could cause this. Shouldn't my PC Shut down if it gets that hot? If anyone can help, please do.

8G's of Vengeance 1866 RAM
C70 Vengeance Case
Rosewill Capstone 550W PSU (RMA'd)
Using a Thermaltake TR2 430 for now..
