GIGABYTE GA-Z77X-UD3H Motherboard
GIGABYTE Z77 Series Motherboards

GIGABYTE 7 series motherboards combine a host of new and exciting technologies with the latest Intel Z77 Express Chipset, creating a unique range of motherboard designs that harness the outstanding performance of the new 3rd generation Intel® Core™ processors. With an exclusive "Digital" VRM design, GIGABYTE 3D Power and GIGABYTE 3D BIOS (Dual UEFI), GIGABYTE 7 series motherboards ensure exceptional power delivery and absolute control, with additional features that ensure an unrivalled experience on your next PC build.

GIGABYTE All Digital Power Engine

GIGABYTE Z77 series motherboards take advantage of an exclusive All Digital PWM controller array, to deliver power to the board's 3rd generation Intel® Core™ processor. Using entirely digital controllers means that more precise power delivery to the motherboard's most power-hungry and energy-sensitive components is possible. These components include the CPU, VTT, processor graphics and memory, without doubt the most important components on your motherboard. This All Digital Power system, with Precise Auto Voltage Compensation, provides you with exceptional control over the component power delivery on your GIGABYTE 7 series motherboard.

GIGABYTE 3D Power: Digital Voltage, Frequency and Phase Control

Utilizing an exclusive All Digital controller array, GIGABYTE's 3D Power features precise Auto Voltage Compensation to deliver a steady flow of power to the system, no matter the loading. With digital controllers for the CPU (Vcore), VTT, processor graphics and memory (DDR), users can make real-time adjustments with the exclusive GIGABYTE 3D Power Utility, that include settings such as OVP (Over Voltage Protection), Load-line Calibration and on-the-fly PWM frequency adjustment.

GIGABYTE 3D Power (Patent Pending) Utility

Users can enjoy a fully interactive 3D utility that facilitates adjustment of the three dimensions that control the power delivery to your CPU and Memory: Voltage, Phase and Frequency. These parameters are crucial to how the digital PWM supplies power to critical areas of the motherboard and can help users quickly obtain the highest, most stable overclock.

3D Power: Voltage Control

Voltage parameters can be modified within 3D Power, including load line calibration of the CPU. By adjusting load line calibration, Vdroop can be avoided, maintaining optimal voltages levels despite increasing current levels. OVP (over voltage protection) can also be adjusted to change default protection range of the CPU, IGP, VTT and system memory.

3D Power: Phase Control

Users can calibrate OCP (Over Current Protection) for the CPU, integrated memory controller and system memory power levels. This allows the Phase control to deliver even more power to the system when needed.

3D Power: Frequency Control

GIGABYTE's all digital PWM allows for adjustable frequency control via the International Rectifier PWM controller. 3D Power frequency control allows users to change the PWM controller frequency so that the CPU VRM can adjust power delivery speeds more quickly. Users can also adjust the PWM spectrum or maximum and minimum overall frequencies.

1 out of 5 eggsAvoid This One

Pros: Not a one, and that's a first.

Cons: I bought this motherboard to build a cpu for my nephew. I've had nothing but trouble with it. It came with bent pens in the USB 3.0 MB socket. I've been unable to even get it to turn on, so given that all the devices hooked to it are in good working order, I can only assume there's an issue with the motherboard. It's in all likelihood just dead.

My best advice is to avoid this and anything like it. This is pretty much the harshest review I've written, but if it saves anyone else the headache that I've had with this thing all the better.

2 out of 5 eggsFirst time using Gigabyte, and disappointed.

Pros: The board itself runs great with the hardware I have, besides the cons.

Cons: Nothing but issues with the USB slots.
They caused the computer to randomly freeze requiring to hard reset the PC. I had to disable Legacy USB to get the freezing to stop, which resulted in my keyboard not working in post.
Also, when there were multiple USB devices plugged in, all of them would start lagging terribly. The only slots not to do this were the ones on the front of the computer case.

Other Thoughts: After reading more about Gigabyte, I found out this is actually a common issue with their USB controllers.

1. Will the machine still lock up when only using the keyboard and mouse?

2. Are you running a fresh new Windows installation or pre-existing?

3. Be sure the motherboard Bios is up to date.

5 out of 5 eggsA solid motherboard

Pros: - Durable
- Useful readout
- Easy to install
- Easy to update
- Colorful (matched the rest of my setup!)

Cons: I had a bit of a fluke occurrence with my first one. I bought it, got it on time, but there were a couple of issues with it... First off, the CPU slot worked perfectly, but the cut/placement seemed to bit off and was a bit difficult to close (almost felt dangerous). Secondly, two of the memory slots were faulty. The rest of the mobo was perfectly fine, though. I decided to just use the board for the time being (because I was too hyped about getting my computer put together... xD), but when I eventually decided to RMA it, GIGABYTE was kind enough to do an advance RMA, sending me a new board before I had to send in my old one. The new one worked like a charm, and I've had no issues or complaint since then.

Other Thoughts: I would encourage everything to see how things work out before you review a product. If you're upset you're likely to rate/review something far worse than you would after getting the problem resolved. GIGABYTE was helpful and quick in their handling of the swap I did, and as I said, I've been nothing but happy with it since then. Most people seem to ride their rage all the way through their review if something goes wrong, and then in two days when they've got their fixed product, they're fine again.

It's unfortunate that so many reviews are clouded by things like this. Take reviews with a grain of salt!

5 out of 5 eggsReliable mobo

Pros: Good reliable motherboard. Purchased it back in middle of 2012 and still running strong. Currently using Intel HD 4000 graphics to run two monitors. Hopefully I will be purchasing a video card soon. Even now it still has pretty good specs for an average user to a moderate power user.

Cons: Never bothered to tinker with BIOS all that much. I disabled everything I would not be using. Not sure how but the boot priority was first set to USB devices. Any USB storage device, external hard drive or a smart phone that was plugged in during boot up would cause the system to hang until removed.

Other Thoughts: Last year my computer was taking 5 minutes or longer to boot up into windows. At one point the system blue screened. Reseated both sticks of memory to fix the blue screen and long boot times. Since I had the side panel off I dusted the insides out. Very happy with it, also looking into setting up a RAID5 for media storage.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid as a rock. It's a Gigabyte.

Pros: No frills styling, well laid out and booted right up. Crazy overclocking with a i3570K. BIOS is full of fun. Came in sterile condition. Reliability, quality and value.

Cons: I'm getting old and can't read my new board without glasses.

Other Thoughts: Gigabyte boards have been serving me well for over 10 years. Every single one I have had boots right up on the first try and only breaks if I break it. Another perfect build.
And this thing clocks like crazy.

1 out of 5 eggsBoard Bugs

Pros: The board has decent components and is very sturdy compared to other brands.

Cons: All previous complaints about the rear USB 3.0 ports are accurate. After my system was up and running they all died on my USB 2.o peripherals. I tried for days to get it to work by tweaking the bios and different drivers. I could get it to recognize my Xbox controller until i got into a game and then it stopped recognizing all 4 ports. This has been a know bug with this board for a LONG time. Luckily I had a USB 2.0 bracket from a different board. The 3 headers on board are Intel and work just fine for a week now. I just have useless USB 3.0 ports. The bios has not been updated in 15 months and the current beta is just to fix a rare sound issue

Other Thoughts: The bios is not very user friendly for overclocking. Very little choices have tool tips explaining what they are for. Even the manual is missing critical information explaining the voltage section. If you manually set the vcore it is stuck there and will not down clock to power save after that and if you use EasyTune6 it will over volt WAY too much. I was getting 1.510 volts on a mild 4.4ghz ET6 setting when manually I was stable at 1.330 under stress test. I would stay away from this board at all costs and wish I could return it for a different brand. I don't want to be down for 2 weeks and pay out of pocket to ship it back. What a waste considering it took me over a week just to debug this board and reload all of my software.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat MOBO

Pros: Its easy to setup, has a great bios, the performance is wonderful! It can handle all my overclocking needs. I am sitting at a comfortable clock of 4.3ghz on my i5-3570k and my sli 760's are liking this board too!

Cons: The only reason I gave this product 4 eggs is because I absolutely hate the sound drivers. The program it comes with can have problems with my Plantronics Gamecom 780.

Other Thoughts: Besides the sound I seriously recommend this mobo. Its a great mobo for this price.

1 out of 5 eggsUnnecessary headache

Pros: Setup went alright, Iv'e assembled many computers over the years and this board was nothing special. Installed in my case without an issue. Like that this board is designed with builders in mind. BIOS has many option that makes overclocking a breeze.

Cons: Driver setup didn't go anywhere near as smoothly as the case installation. Took three tries to get all the drivers installed properly so that windows didn't have a problem with them. On top of the driver issues I also had customer service issues. I sent my rebate in only to have it be declined, then when I called to ask why I was told I sent the wrong document but that I could still resubmit the proper document. I did everything the person at the call center said and now they have still declined my rebate without any explanation.

Other Thoughts: If this is how I'm going to be treated for bringing my business to gigabyte then I guess I won't make that mistake twice. Won't be shopping with them ever again.

5 out of 5 eggsAWSOME board after a minor fix

Pros: mSATA drive support. USB 3.0 for front of case, plenty of USB, good on-board video for non-gamers. Driver CD is so super easy to install and time saver.

Cons: SATA placement - I don't care for the front load sata connections. Hard to plug in after board is in case.

Other Thoughts: had a single pin under CPU that was bent. So the board would start for only 1/2 second then off. Difficult to see it, but when I found and fixed it all worked very well and fast.
