5 out of 5 eggsReally good moatherboard

Pros: Board does everything I want and then some. Blew me out of the water, for a really good price. Didn't have to do anything to it with installing he processor or RAM. Started right up and ran without any troubles.
Was really blown away by the Dolby Digital home theater style sound output with the on-board sound card. Very nice, crisp and clear, even with the analog sound system that I have set up.
With 2 PCI-e full 16x slots, this board has the room to put two video cards in each slot and can easily do SLI / Crossfire configurations between the cards.
On a smaller note, it has all the connectors in locations where things won't get in the way of other things. So can have nice big video card(s) on it without the video card tangling with cables. Lots of USB 2.0 ports

Cons: Doesn't have on board video. Not a problem for me but might be for some. Not enough USB 3.0 ports.

Other Thoughts: As a gamer and someone who loves AMD FX chips, this is a board I would recommend to others in a hurry.

1 out of 5 eggsDOA - freezes every 1-3 minutes

Pros: Looks good?

Cons: Broken. Read online there's a lot of USB3 problems with the freezing, fixing that didn't work either.

Other Thoughts: Spent 15+ hours testing for every possible other thing to be broken to find out it was the motherboard that slightly worked (probably a capacitor half working but ready to stop?)

Really disappointed.

1 out of 5 eggsThink it over

Pros: Clean design, easy to get parts installed, customer support was ready when I called.

Cons: Contacted tech support (live person!) and they had me take several parts out to confirm what I already knew DOA. I have built over 20 pc s since 1995 and at least 95% of the parts I have purchased was through New Egg. This is the FIRST MB that I have bought that was DOA. Not even a "beep" from the BIOS. Was not going to purchase another ASUS board since support SUCKS so went the GB path. Ordered the board and then read the number of DOAs but still told my self, it wont happen to me. Sure as rice is white DOA, no beep from the BIOS nada. It was nice to call tech support and have a person answer the call. Very nice and was very supportive, but that doesn't make up for a board that is dead.

Other Thoughts: Went back to ASUS. Even though the support is not where it should be, I have been 100% on every board that I have purchased from them. Stay away from this one.

A HUGE THANK YOU to New Egg and their support. Provided me with everything I need. If ANYONE has issues with New Egg, then you are very much alone. Way to go NEW EGG!!!!! I am now a very loyal customer!!!

4 out of 5 eggsTook some getting used to

Pros: Great layout overall. PCIE lanes are well spaced and front panel headers are labeled clearly. Aesthetics are great, a solid black/gray motherboard fits most all systems. Great number of sata ports means no worrying about upgrading storage in the future. *Stable (see other thoughts).

Cons: Top PCI1x slot is too close to the heat spreaders, most cards won't fit, and the slot will be left unutilized. There could be more fan headers. Not much more needs to be said about that, everyone needs fans. *StabilityStability (again, see other thoughts).

Other Thoughts: First, this is my review of the board I received, not of the product as a whole or the company it comes from. A single product should not be rated by the company, it stands alone. If it's good, yay. If it's not, boohoo. If you got a solid, working board, but you can't get your rebate, too bad. The review is about the board, not the rebate process.
Rant over.
*In regards to the stability of the particular board I received, I had many issues until recently. Many times a week the computer would freeze, emit a static death noise from whatever was plugged into the audio jack, and then the screen would artifact, glitch, and tear every which way in the most horrifying of ways. No blue screen, no black screen, no error reports, just frozen death. Being a patient person, I put up with it, making a few tweaks in the bios to make it work a bit longer. But it would always end the same: frozen death. Sometimes a week of continuous use, sometimes only a couple hours.
Finally a few weeks ago I found the solution. I overclocked my 6350 to 4.4GHz at 1.45 volts (as opposed to the base of 3.9 @ 1.385 which I had kept it at indefinitely up to that point). Not thinking anything of it, I booted it up one day and thought "hmm, maybe I'll try a quick OC for kicks? It'll give my Noctua a chance to shine." Booted fine, signed into windows, and ran Prime95 for 4 1/2 hours strait with no crashes, hiccups, or frozen death (previously it would crash after 10-15 minutes). Oh, and no thermal issues whatsoever; thank you Noctua.
So conclusion: MY particular board wasn't able to run stable at best clock for my CPU. But for some reason runs like a champ when overclocking. I say fair trade, I'm 3 1/2 weeks into a continuous running of my system, no crashes.
Definitely not perfect, but it can get the job done.

4 out of 5 eggsgigabyte board review

Pros: most people put high tech knowledge on their reviews. but fail at understanding board limitations. 1866mhz gigabyte is solid but, installation sucks. for a company that has a great reputation building boards you would think it would be just the same in installation. they make it harder for technicians.

Cons: memory limitation has a glitch that requires the power button pushed twice to power on after a certain amount of time. known issue.

Other Thoughts: pfffft no.

1 out of 5 eggsTerrible motherboard, slow and broken

Pros: - Has USB3

Cons: - Slow motherboard, takes at least 4 minutes to boot Windows 8 from SSD
- Cannot access BIOS. Boot options are inaccessible. Safe mode and recover mode are inaccessible.
- Doesn't recognize USB or CD drive as a higher boot option than the hard drive. Since boot options are inaccessible, I can't change the boot order.

Other Thoughts: I will never purchase another Gigabyte product. This motherboard has been a terrible experience.

After installing Windows 8, Windows got stuck trying to install updates and then failing and trying to undo those updates. Since this Gigabyte motherboard does not allow me access to boot setting, I cannot get out of this loop. I can't wipe the hard drive and install a new copy of Windows, since the USB and CD drives aren't recognized on boot (see Cons section).

I hope that I can serve as a cautionary tale. Don't buy a Gigabyte motherboard.

1 out of 5 eggsGood layout but major issues

Pros: There was plenty of space to put all the peripherals and a ton of USB ports.

Cons: Once I got the board booted it took forever to do an install of Windows 7. I had a brand new SSD and 16 gigs of memory so I knew there was an issue. Once Windows loaded (slower than my old dual core) it was crash after crash programs would Stop Responding and I couldn't load the drivers it just would quit, crash and black screen.

The UEFI BIOS is like something out of the 90's my mouse was very much useless so I had to use the keyboard anyway.

Other Thoughts: At first I thought it was the HDD but it ran fine on my working Asus/Intel PC lightning fast read writes. All of the memory sticks were working in my PC because I just pulled them after an upgrade.

So I don't have a clue as to why this board made everything bog down so badly. I have never encountered anything like this.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Bios is easy to navigate, Plenty of features, Decent overclocking

Cons: Memory slots are too close to cpu, creates a problem when using aftermarket coolers.

Other Thoughts: It took tweaking a few settings but Im happy with how this board runs now. Turning off the power saving/turbo features causes that "double boot" that some folks are reporting.
