1 out of 5 eggsJunk

Pros: Powers on & lights up.

Cons: IDE hard drive conversion to USB fails in Win7. Purchased in Dec. 2013, the instruction manual implies the product only works with Win 2k/ME/XP. This is not noted in the Newegg tech specs. User manual disc not in package as advertised. SATA data and power cables are inconveniently short.

Other Thoughts: This is the last Vantec item I will purchase simply because it's cheap. Based on reviews, this is a hit-or-miss item.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks

Pros: Reasonable price (fairly frequent coupons, just wait for one). Plugged everything in and it works.

Cons: It would've been nice if the SATA cable it came with was longer, but ehhh, whatever, not that big of a deal. (You can see the length in the photos.)

Other Thoughts: I haven't tested the IDE connector yet. Hoping it won't fail me when I finally dig out my old drives.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat adapter!

Pros: Works with everything that I plug into it. I have used every type of drive that this adapter supports and all have worked great. Decent speeds for usb2 interface.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Make sure you read where it says the cord length(36 inch), that might be a little short for some peoples needs. For me it did not matter because I normally have the drive sitting on top of my tower where the usb ports are.

Also, it comes in a normal box and not some goofy package so it doubles a carry case(box) in-between projects and storage box so nothing gets lost.

1 out of 5 eggsD-O-A

Pros: Good written directions. Newegg.com delivered in timely manner.

Cons: DOA Dead On Arrival. Not a good deal.

Other Thoughts: I now have to drive to Denver, 3 hours away, to meet customer deadline. Thanks to a poor product.

1 out of 5 eggsBroke after a day

Pros: Flexible, supports 40/44 pin IDE and SATA.

Cons: Broke after a day. Worked fine on day one, but on day 2, the attached drive would disappear from the USB bus when transfering files. Tried with multiple drives and computers, no luck... Time to RMA.

Other Thoughts: The included power adapter has a molex output connector and can be used to power other things.

1 out of 5 eggsRefunded for money back at a loss

Pros: If it had performed properly...portability, ease of use, quick way to clone without shutting down

Cons: Fried two brand new drives (click, click , click). Returning for money back. Unfortunately at a loss. Purchase at your own risk!

5 out of 5 eggsCoping drives, get this!!!

Pros: This device works, what else can I say. You will need a software to use it, but once you do you'll wonder how you did with out it.

Cons: there's a lot of wires laying around while you're doing the project. The power cord they send is junk. Just cheap made and doesn't fit tight in the device connector. advise on using a old one out of a power supply laying around

1 out of 5 eggsIt does nothing

Pros: N/A

Cons: Power brick was not functional. Could not provide power to either of the drives I plugged into it. I moved it to different outlets and double checked the connections. Clearly it's defective.

There may be a lot of these defective Vantec products on the market, as this purchase did not come from Newegg. Don't buy this product from any vendor unless you like chancing a high likelihood of getting something that just doesn't work.

Other Thoughts: There was a shard of plastic stuck in the male end of the molex adapter on the end of the power brick large enough to block the connection. I had to fish it out with a knife. After that the brick still couldn't provide power.

Wish I could have said something positive but I just couldn't. It just doesn't work, and it's very poorly made.
