3 out of 5 eggsconfusing

Pros: does what it's intended to... sort of. See other thoughts.

Cons: unclear instructions

Other Thoughts: I was hoping for this to be a simple plug-and-play for cloning a hard drive. However, I learned the hard way that USB 3.0 has a higher voltage output than USB 2.0. Therefore, it was impossible to clone a hard drive from a laptop that didn't have USB 3.0. Fortunately, i was able to get the drive copied by plugging it into my desktop, and cloning to the new drive over a USB 3.0 port that it (the desktop pc) had.

2 out of 5 eggsWorks fine, bad quality

Pros: Easy to use
Great design

Cons: Poorly made

Other Thoughts: The end of the USB cable on the SATA side is not attached right. The cable's shielding is protruding out of the connector. It works alright, but I'm afraid the wiring might break with alot of movement.

1 out of 5 eggsStarted OK - now its dead

Pros: small, lightweight

Cons: Worked OK when received it and then put away for another time - when I bought some SSD's to install as boot drives, I tried to use it but no go. It appears to power up (green and red LEDs work) but no recognition by the PC and no data transfer. :-(

Other Thoughts: This id the first negative comment I have ever made about an item fro Newegg. Too bad - but the one I got is junk!

3 out of 5 eggsUse lots of Electric tape

Pros: It works as advertise.

Cons: The cable will break where the cable goes into the SATA connector. You can still use the cable as advertise by using a lot of electric at the breaking point so not to allow the cable to bend, or even as a preventative measure to not allow it to break at all.

Other Thoughts: Mines do not bend at all and even now, by using the tape has allow this unit to be used far into the future.

4 out of 5 eggsgreat buy

Pros: Cable connects directly to the hdd instead of normal cases where connections break easily. Went through 2 normal cases before i found this.

Cons: The cable is a little loose so be careful where you place you hdd when transfering large/ many files.

Other Thoughts: Its been working great for a week now. No problems.

3 out of 5 eggsOnly supports 2.5 inch drives

Pros: Fast, small, easy to use

Cons: Only supports 2.5 inch drives, will not power 3.5 inch drives.

Other Thoughts: The product description says it works for 2.5 inch drives, but does not specifically say it does not work with 3.5 inch drives. I have another (usb 2.0) cable that has a separate power cable that takes up a lot of space in my bag, I wanted one simple cable to replace it with. After it not working on several 3.5 inch drives I had to research why, thinking it was broken. It is working properly but does not work with the larger desktop drives.
