That means for games, only stereo (unless your sound card supports live dts, etc.) Other Thoughts: Its a cord, it works or it dosnt. This one worked. MAKE SURE your sound card and receiver support s/pdif optical, AND remember that unless the signal is encoded, s/pdif only has bandwidth for 2 channel sound. Did you find this review helpful? It replaced a standard RCA connection between my plasma TV and receiver. I did not notice a difference in sound quality but I did notice I didn't have to turn up the volume on the receiver as high. My receiver also automatically decoded the signal so I didn't have to fiddle w/ sound fields for it recognize a 5.1 system. Cons: None. Other Thoughts: I was trying to make sure the cable did not have a lot of slack when connected so I bought a short one. I was right on the edge, so make sure the length is good for your needs.
