Great for home or office use, the APC SurgeArrest P8GT surge suppressor keeps your electronics fully protected from spikes and surges with 2160 joules rating. Its eight outlets (among them, two are adapter-friendly outlets) are arranged in three groups: One Master outlet, four Controlled by Master outlets, and three Always-On outlets. The Master outlet is for connection to your computer, laptop or netbook, while the Controlled by Master outlets are for connection to the peripherals (monitor, scanner, or speakers). After your surge suppressor is tuned to Auto mode*, the power to all your equipment plugged in the Controlled by Master outlets will be shut off when your computer, laptop or netbook is in standby or hibernation mode. Power will be restored when computer, laptop or netbook awakens. This helps save you energy and money on electric bill, and makes turning on/off peripheral fast and easy. The Always-On outlets are great for modem and router which need constant power supply. This model also provides line noise filtration, and data line protection via RJ11 ports. A 180-degree rotating cord with strain relief offers flexibility in positioning this power strip, and in routing the power cord.
*To enable Master/Control features, move the Auto/Manual switch to Auto. Move the switch to Manual to disable the Master/control feature. The Master and Controlled outlets will continue to receive power until the unit is unplugged for the wall outlet. The Always-On outlets are not affected by the Auto/Manual switch.
Superb Surge Protection With 2160 Joule rating, this model fully protects your equipment from damages caused by electric power surges and spikes. SurgeArrest components such as MOVs and Thermal fuse ensure instantaneous reaction to lightning strikes and wiring faults. If the surge components are damaged due to power spike or over voltage, excess power cannot reach your equipment. All three electrical modes (L-N, L-G, N-G) are always on duty. In the event a mode of protection is compromised as a result of a surge, the remaining modes continue to provide protection. The EMI and RFI noise filtering reduces line noise that can cause data loss and keyboard errors.
Master and Controlled by Master Outlets Designed to power desktops, laptops and netbooks, the Master outlet detects when your connected master devices is off or in standby mode and then turns off power to peripherals that are plugged in the Controlled by Master outlets. For better current detection, a NETBOOK PC/NB slider switch is included on the side of the SurgeArrest. If a netbook is connected, push the slider to Netbook. If a computer or laptop is connected, push the slider to PC/NB.
Always On Outlets Three Always-On outlets will constantly provide power and will not be affected by Auto/Manual switch.
Data Line Protection A pair of RJ11 connectors protects the fax/modem from power abnormalities. It is very important to protect your equipment from “back door” electric surges traveling through data lines, as they can be as damaging to your equipment as surges traveling over power lines.
Easy Status LEDs Building Wiring Fault indicator informs users of potentially dangerous wiring problems in the wall circuit. Protection Working indicator will warn you if its circuitry has been damaged by heavy strike or power line surge and it is unable to provide 100% protection.
Transformer Block Spacing Two outlets are widely spaced to connect bulky transformer block plugs without covering up other outlets.
