Don't let the fangs on the front scare you; the Smilodon is a monster under your control. Its innovative design features speed assembly and get you back on the hunt in no time. Once you're up and running, the plethora of fans will keep your system cool even in the hottest of firefights.

System setup is eased by having the mobo tray attached to the right side panel. Undo the locking screws and remove the side panels and you have a totally open chassis. Install the mobo and expansion cards to the side panel along with the CPU and memory then all you have to do is put it back in place as a unit. But first install all your drives in the tool-less racks. When both sections are assembled all you have to do is connect the wiring.

There are fans everywhere to keep your components cool. A 120mm fan is mounted on the back panel for main ventilation. The side panel has an 80mm fan to boost CPU cooling. There is a retaining bar designed to help hold your video cards in place, and that too has an 80mm fan vented to the outside.

  • newegg Convenient Installation The Raidmax Smilodon Extreme ATX-612WEBP features a fully removable motherboard tray for easy system upgrade without removing your PCIe/AGP/PCI cards. Plus the tool-free design ensures quick assembly of other devices, saving your precious time.

4 out of 5 eggsWish the PSU could be bottom mounted

Pros: This is a great tower with reasonable space. I purchased this last December and it is working very well for me. In addition to the mainboard being foldout, by removing 3 screws you can remove the panel that the main board sits on (along with the expansion slots!) and use it as a bench. Very useful when troubleshooting hardware issues.

I removed the graphics card stabilizer (because I found it aesthetically displeasing) so I cannot comment on that part. Newegg lists this tower as having only 4 3.5in internal drive bays, but that is not completely accurate, there is technically 5. The removable hard drive rack actually supports 4 drives albeit it is a tight fit but it is possible, and beneath the 2 external 3.5in drive bays is a fifth internal 3.5in bay.

Although I am not using the 500-watt power supply in this case, it is working very well for me in another computer. The connectors are as follows: 2x 4 pin cpu power connecters (put together they make a 8 pin EPS connecter, 1x PCIe 6 pin connecter, 3 SATA connecters, 3 Molex connecters. It produces very little noise.

Cons: Cable management is a bit tricky, if you want to pull out the mainboard without unplugging all the cables, the cables cannot be tied down to the computer. This could have been mitigated by making the power supply bottom mounted so that when you drop the back panel down the fold down with the motherboard instead of being stretched out. The accessory box cannot be used for anything except the parts that it came with.

Other Thoughts: I bought this because it featured a foldout mainboard panel and side panel window. I would not call this the best tower, but this design is not found in any other tower.

If you use a modular power supply like I am, the cables will be more than long enough to reach with the mainboard panel fully stretched out.

The fans are quiet but the 120mm fans have both a 3-pin connecter and a Molex connecter so whichever you use, the other will be dangling. I removed both 120mm fans and replaced them with Corsair AF120 fans.

5 out of 5 eggsAwsome

Pros: This case is really the best case i own, Other than some of the IN WIN cases, It has a nice fold out side and its really easy to install things in.

Over all its a really nice case but.....

Cons: ... The fold out front to have access to the front gets stuck on the carpet, so i would advise maby setting it on maby a plastic sheet or s clock of wood. The side that says "Dirk-Tooth" needs to be changed to the correct version "Dark-Tooth" Im not shure if it was on pourpous or not but other thsn thst its a really nice cace.

Other Thoughts: If you are looking for maby your first gaming build, got this case and save more mony for parts, this case can always be swapped later.

4 out of 5 eggsCool and Basic

Pros: The Green LEDs look awesome, The door adds to the look because it hides the front drive bays and I/O ports, making it look less like a plain old computer.
PSU worked on arrival and it is still running strong after 5 months
The foldout motherboard tray makes installation easy, good for beginners.
Drives and HDD are easy to instal.
I've had no problem fitting my graphics card (Radeon 7850) into it even though some other reviews claimed installed HDD would get in the way.

Cons: No wire management but that nothing a few zip-ties can't fix
Limited space for water cooling. The biggest cooler I could fit on it was the Corsair H80i but I had to remove the black sidebar, losing a fan, and I was only able to install one 120mm fan on it because of the LED fan.
Stock fan 4 pin Molex connectors are pretty lose making them hard to connect to each other and the PSU.
No back CPU hole making installing the backplate for water coolers more of a hassle.

Other Thoughts: Overall I like the case it's simple and help teach me how to do wire-management with out the luxury of the built in managing.

4 out of 5 eggsAn okay case

Pros: -Lots of room

-Green LED

Cons: Door is annoying and constantly gets in the way, and lately the PSU has been failing me but that was expected as it's 500w.

Other Thoughts: Overall the case is pretty nice, only bad things are just the door and PSU. The PSU can be easily replaced and door can just be removed if needed.

4 out of 5 eggsBest in class

Pros: Possibly the best desktop case ever made by Raidmax, plenty of cooling, tremendous amount of space for mid tower case, one of the few cases with a fold out mobo tray. Heavy and well made, this is no lite weight run of the mill case. Very good price for a case of this quality, and the power supply is ok for most users.

Cons: Heavy, only a con if you plan to carry this case to a LAN party, this case is a beast to move.

Other Thoughts: I have built three systems with this case so far and all have liked it. However there are some things that could make this a superior case to anything on the market today.
I would hope Raidmax would take note and make a new version of this case based on these ideas.
Cable management, there is none. You have to make your own which with a case window can be hard to do to make it look right.
An option to mount the front bay door on the left or right would be a plus.
The ability to mount power supply in top or bottom would also be super.
Also change the name on the side panel fan mount from Dirk-Tooth to the right spelling, Dark-Tooth.

4 out of 5 eggsDoors

Pros: Full of features. Nice look. The biggest window ever. But in revenge it shows all your wires in it...

Cons: Somehow you must know if you want a case that has so many doors. Really, will you like? For my part, I really like it. But you must be sure.
And it is not a power supply really awesome: just a normal one. Be aware you can't pull enough power for a total gaming pc with many things in it.

3 out of 5 eggsJust sorta OK..

Pros: I like the mother board fold out feature and the number of fans it comes with

Cons: the power supply did not have a six pin for my video card
Most decent cards do need 6pin and anouther 4pin

Other Thoughts: If I did this build over again I would get a better case like the COOLER MASTER HAF $59 and a power supply with more power and a 6pin for the video card like the CORSAIR Builder Series CX600 on sale $29
I would have paid just $10 more then the $89 for the Raidmax

USB and Audio outs are on the bottom of case and I like them on the top
