The Smilodon case from Raidmax makes assembling a system easier than ever before. It has a modular, tool-less design that makes the initial build and future upgrades easy. Both side panels latch into place for easy access. For the ultimate in convenience the right side panel has the motherboard tray completed with backplate attached. This lets you install the mobo and all your cards, then lock it into the case as a single unit.

Drive installation couldn’t be easier. The external bays all use Clicklock technology, just slide the drive into the bay and lock it into place. The hard drive rack is removable for easy installations and upgrades. All of the necessary drive rails come in a slide out box so you don’t lose them.

Once you have everything assembled you need to make sure it stays cool. Raidmax has loaded the case with plenty of fans. A 120mm fan is mounted on the front of the case to draw cool air in and blow it across the hard drives. Side and rear mounted 80mm fans keep the air moving over all critical components. There is also an 80mm fan with green LEDs that mounts to a support brace that holds your expansion cards steady and blows cool outside air over them.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Case

This review is from: RAIDMAX SMILODON Extreme Black ATX-612WEB 1.0mm SECC Steel ATX Mid Tower Foldout MB Computer Case

Pros: Sturdy Construction. A lot of internal storage. Both sides drop down for easy assembly/access. Great look. Four fans with slot/wires for a fifth. All of my hardware fits comfortably(even the giant GPU).

Cons: Only two USB ports in the front.

Other Thoughts: Asus 990/950

EVGA Bronze 750w

5 out of 5 eggsGreat buy

This review is from: RAIDMAX SMILODON Extreme Black ATX-612WEB 1.0mm SECC Steel ATX Mid Tower Foldout MB Computer Case

Pros: Great case for the price. Plenty of room and options for future upgrades. Lights and fans work great, and the fans it comes with are not very loud at all.
I would definitely buy it again.

Cons: Its a large case, but its not like I wasn't especting that. Plastic parts seem kinda cheap, but the overall design makes up for that. Still a good buy.

Other Thoughts: Shipping was packaged well and arrived in 3 days just like it said.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat case so far

This review is from: RAIDMAX SMILODON Extreme Black ATX-612WEB 1.0mm SECC Steel ATX Mid Tower Foldout MB Computer Case

Pros: This case is very ergonomic with both sides opening up to ease the installation of components. LEDs are nice and bright. Very good overall build quality, sturdy metal construction. Fans run good so far, not overly loud. Provide adequate airflow. This case is STILL the best from the factory Green LED lit case available.

Cons: Only downsides I've come across, is the lack of stand-offs for full sized ATX mobos. My case only came with 8, so I had to procure another (which isn't worth knocking off an egg).

Obviously the wiring isn't the greatest, but come on... This is a 10 year old case. Take your time and it'll turn out fine.

Magnets holding front door closed could be a little stronger. But definitely not a deal breaker or even worth an egg.

5 out of 5 eggs4 years in still kicking

This review is from: RAIDMAX SMILODON Extreme Black ATX-612WEB 1.0mm SECC Steel ATX Mid Tower Foldout MB Computer Case

Pros: I've had this case for almost 5 years now with almost NO issues. i swapped out the PSU initially so i cant speak on the one it came with, but I will say despite daily use with almost no down time the LED fans that came installed in it have held up. Swapping the front fan for a better one was very simple. The tool-less drive bays are easy to use. The fact both case sides open meaning the motherboard tray drops down makes installing new or swapping out old parts very easy.

Cons: Cable management is very minimal and tedious, mainly because the PSU is top mounted. But this was something i expected knowing that it was a top mount case.
The latch handles that open and lock the case can be finicky, not opening unless you play around with them.. granted this issue didnt surface till about 1.5 years into the case life.

Other Thoughts: All in all this has been one of my favorite cases to work with, its on its 3rd build (athlon, phenom,FX) and i still dont foresee retiring it for air cooled builds.. The cons were things i knew/expected to deal with upon purchase so i didnt see a point in deducting an egg.

3 out of 5 eggsNice case, faulty fans

This review is from: RAIDMAX SMILODON Extreme Black ATX-612WEB 1.0mm SECC Steel ATX Mid Tower Foldout MB Computer Case

Pros: I got this case along with a bunch of other parts at christmas time to upgrade my computer, and I am generally happy with it - it is much larger than the one I had before, and the side folding down made it very simple to install everything. It looks nice, has good air flow (enough that it doesn't need all the fans running, luckily), and I'm generally quite happy with it, except...

Cons: Not one but TWO of the fans that came with the case have broken down. The first was the rear outflow fan about a couple months ago, and the second is one of the intake fans on the side (the one with the green lights). In both cases the fans slowed down and made this horrible grinding noise, and appeared to be leaking some sort of goop which I assume was meant to lubricate them. The first time I passed it off as plain old bad luck and just replaced it, but now that the second one stopped working I'm not quite sure what to think.

Other Thoughts: I don't consider it a 'con', because it's easy enough to just look up online, but the instructions that came with the case were not particularly useful - this is the first case I've owned with tool free hard drive mounting and I had a bit of trouble figuring out what the instructions meant for me to do.

1 out of 5 eggsNope

This review is from: RAIDMAX SMILODON Extreme Black ATX-612WEB 1.0mm SECC Steel ATX Mid Tower Foldout MB Computer Case

Pros: It's pretty

Cons: Very difficult to work with. Drives have to be installed before mobo if you have a 3rd party heatsink.

Also, that heatsink can't be very tall.

Drives CRAM into slots, scratch and push that thing into there.

Other Thoughts: I should have just spent more time and more money.

4 out of 5 eggsAmazing case!

This review is from: RAIDMAX SMILODON Extreme Black ATX-612WEB 1.0mm SECC Steel ATX Mid Tower Foldout MB Computer Case

Pros: Alright so this is a charm and was absolutely perfect for my first pc build.

Cons: the only reason this is not 5 eggs is because it was a little confusing to get together, and the bolt on the top hinge of the front panel disappeared. don't know when but it was definitely there my first 3 weeks with it

3 out of 5 eggsOwned 5+ years

This review is from: RAIDMAX SMILODON Extreme Black ATX-612WEB 1.0mm SECC Steel ATX Mid Tower Foldout MB Computer Case

Pros: One of my first gaming oriented cases. You get what you pay for.
Lots of fans
Nice color scheme
Does the job
Cheapish

Cons: Door sticks
Handle sticks
Cord for side fan on the metal bar gets stuck in the closing door
Hard drives way to close for largish cards.

Airflow is actually atrocious with any decent video card. Had to downclock the card, from base, because the case kept it too hot.

Other Thoughts: It was strong enough, but hard to move so it made you be more careful. Half decent case, but not anything spectacular.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Case

This review is from: RAIDMAX SMILODON Extreme Black ATX-612WEB 1.0mm SECC Steel ATX Mid Tower Foldout MB Computer Case

Pros: I really liked the design of this case, fold down side panels make installing or removing the motherboard and other components a breeze.

Cons: -No cable management
-Cheap fans (Both things I assumed at this price point.)

The green Side fan started out quiet, but after about a month became very noisy. I unplugged it today as its become unbearably noisy. So I no longer have the visually appealing green glow on the side glass or a side fan.

3 out of 5 eggsBecoming a Classic

This review is from: RAIDMAX SMILODON Extreme Black ATX-612WEB 1.0mm SECC Steel ATX Mid Tower Foldout MB Computer Case

Pros: Good case back in 2008 when I bought mine. Very heavy gauge steel compared to today's cases. Great for people who want an OEM lighted case.

Cons: Airflow is not as good as comparably priced newer cases.. Compared to recently designed cases the fans are small. The case is not water cooled friendly.

Other Thoughts: Bought in 2008. Son inherited. Been sitting in loft in shop until now for the last couple of years. Going to do a low budget build for a friend of my son. Today's lower TDP CPU's and GPU's make the poor airflow less of a concern than back in the GTX 480 era!
