The Smilodon case from Raidmax makes assembling a system easier than ever before. It has a modular, tool-less design that makes the initial build and future upgrades easy. Both side panels latch into place for easy access. For the ultimate in convenience the right side panel has the motherboard tray completed with backplate attached. This lets you install the mobo and all your cards, then lock it into the case as a single unit.

Drive installation couldn’t be easier. The external bays all use Clicklock technology, just slide the drive into the bay and lock it into place. The hard drive rack is removable for easy installations and upgrades. All of the necessary drive rails come in a slide out box so you don’t lose them.

Once you have everything assembled you need to make sure it stays cool. Raidmax has loaded the case with plenty of fans. A 120mm fan is mounted on the front of the case to draw cool air in and blow it across the hard drives. Side and rear mounted 80mm fans keep the air moving over all critical components. There is also an 80mm fan with green LEDs that mounts to a support brace that holds your expansion cards steady and blows cool outside air over them.

5 out of 5 eggsblack/green

This review is from: RAIDMAX SMILODON Extreme Black ATX-612WEB 1.0mm SECC Steel ATX Mid Tower Foldout MB Computer Case

Pros: the panels are amazing easy to install with the pnaels able to fold down. this case look better in person the pictures does it no justice.

Cons: wish there could of been some sort of cable management system somewhere.

Other Thoughts: would install some sort of clip to slide the wires into to keep them up and away from everything as well hide wires from site.

1 out of 5 eggsjunk

This review is from: RAIDMAX SMILODON Extreme Black ATX-612WEB 1.0mm SECC Steel ATX Mid Tower Foldout MB Computer Case

Pros: Nothing except cheap fans with wires that constantly get in the way which wouldn't be bad if you only had to go into case a few times but this thing was such a pain, causing me to constantly be in the thing that I wanted to rip them out!

Cons: This thing is junk, looked cool when I first saw it. My pc build is going on 2 months all b/c of this tower. Though I was getting bad pc parts, went to a pc repair shop they couldn't solve it. RMA'd a lot and too Newegg I'm sorry but this case really is junk. Tower kept setting of red cpu light pc wouldn't post. Thought it was a bad ground took mobo out of case still red light, changed power supply, ram, cpu, mobo, still red light. Finally put each wire into mobo while turning it on to check them. Turned out to be a bad ground up inside the rest button which is heavily glued in so I can't fix it unless I dig at it. Good news you don't need a rest button. But f this case.

Other Thoughts: Also where you put HDD is directly across from gpu so it makes it super tight for no reason. And another thing the front of case is peeling off where case and led lights meet, I keep pushing it down and it sticks for a second then pops up so the led light on front of case looks all wavy instead of clean and straight. And if you want anything wireless the front door doesn't leave enough room for those mini wireless usb transmitters. I hate this tower!

Manufacturer Response:

4 out of 5 eggsQuite Nice

This review is from: RAIDMAX SMILODON Extreme Black ATX-612WEB 1.0mm SECC Steel ATX Mid Tower Foldout MB Computer Case

Pros: Good looking budget gaming case
Easy access to everything
Pretty quiet

Cons: Front door upper magnet doesn't really contact the door so it opens too easily;
Not all fans have mobo 3/4 pin leads and use the dreaded 20th century Molex instead;
Front panel fan lead too short by a looooong margin, thank goodness I had a spare fan; To that extent all leads are way too short and cannot be routed nicely.
Non-painted, gray interior - bleh.

Other Thoughts: For the money the case is quite nice, doesn't feel cheap or cheesy. About the only real beef that I do have with it (other than the fan connections which in all is pretty minor) is the non-painted interior. Obviously this is a somewhat flashy case with quite nice LED lighting and big side window meant to show off your spiffy innards. But you'll mostly notice (hence 4 stars) is the ugly gray metal inside. Of course it's nothing $3 worth of spay-paint won't fix, but maybe it wouldn't be too much of a bump in price to do that from the factory.

5 out of 5 eggsSturdy Case - Fans Aren't Great.

This review is from: RAIDMAX SMILODON Extreme Black ATX-612WEB 1.0mm SECC Steel ATX Mid Tower Foldout MB Computer Case

Pros: -Steel construction
-Plentiful Hard Drive Bays (For a Mid-tower)
-Tool-less design for most drive bays.
-Relatively Wide case, allows for a Cooler Master V8 heatsink to JUST fit inside.

Cons: - I don't think any of these issues deserve to knock an egg off of this case, all of these problems are ones that i knew about before purchasing.

-Creative cable management is required, this case has literally, NO room for cable management, but that is obvious from the pictures.

-Case fans started buzzing after about 2 years, but those go out regardless of what case you have.

-I suppose it's a bit heavy, but where are you taking it?

-ALSO, for those who plan on using a aftermarket heat-sink (so everybody) the motherboard tray will not fold out if a large heat-sink is on the CPU. The heat-sink hits both the power supply and the top of the case when attempting to fold the motherboard down. Raidmax should have had the tray hinge to the side rather than down, but this is visible in the pictures.

5 out of 5 eggsSurprisingly good quality

This review is from: RAIDMAX SMILODON Extreme Black ATX-612WEB 1.0mm SECC Steel ATX Mid Tower Foldout MB Computer Case

Pros: I was supprised how good this case was. Just love it. I am building a new PC, and I asumed this case was not going to be special but it is really great if you a building a pc and willing to pay some money. The case is really easy to open.

Cons: The only thing is that my cd drive is a little hard to fit in, and if you have a big video card it is a little packed, making it hard to plug in front pannel stuff for most motherboards

Other Thoughts: I was under the assumtion that it was going to be mostly plastic, but it is mostly metal, very sturdy and high quality

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,
We're glad that this product worked out so well for you. We hope you'll enjoy this item for many years to come.

2 out of 5 eggsCase concept is cool, too bad materials are shoddy

This review is from: RAIDMAX SMILODON Extreme Black ATX-612WEB 1.0mm SECC Steel ATX Mid Tower Foldout MB Computer Case

Pros: The case opens up on both sides which is nice, to lay out the motherboard and work on it on a flat open surface -depends on your items. If it is bulky, opening it may be difficult.

Cons: The case material is just sub-par, considering the price and having good reviews -I am disappointed. This case gave me great trouble fitting what I wanted inside, it was cramped, and mostly plastic, not metal. It did not feel sturdy at all, quite the opposite. Even the plastic of the cover, the clear side, it felt cheap.

4 out of 5 eggsGreast case

This review is from: RAIDMAX SMILODON Extreme Black ATX-612WEB 1.0mm SECC Steel ATX Mid Tower Foldout MB Computer Case

Pros: Pretty big and lots of fan space. The locking system for the CD drives and hard drives is actually pretty useful too, instead of having to mess around with screws. The LED's look nice, and the window also looks good.

Cons: There's no space for a 140mm fan, so getting my Corsair H90 liquid cooler to fit was a pain. I ended up having to drill holes into the top of the case to mount it and also make an air vent for it.

Other Thoughts: I'd recommend, especially for someone looking for a case with pretty decent circulation and space.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Case!!

This review is from: RAIDMAX SMILODON Extreme Black ATX-612WEB 1.0mm SECC Steel ATX Mid Tower Foldout MB Computer Case

Pros: Good looking case, Sturdy design, latches on the sides that allow it to fold down are of good quality. The motherboard folds out where you can work on it and install new cards, memory, etc. Green leds are a plus! Unit has four fans. Vents very well! Tool less bay are nice as well!

Cons: You have to get creative with the cable management. Also When I purchased this I thought it had five fans. The one for the hard drives you have to buy and install.

Other Thoughts: This was my first build and I bought the as a bundle from newegg! All in all I'm very pleased with the case and would recommend it to a first time builder! I wished the bundle would have come with the white and blue!!

3 out of 5 eggsBad cooling fans

This review is from: RAIDMAX SMILODON Extreme Black ATX-612WEB 1.0mm SECC Steel ATX Mid Tower Foldout MB Computer Case

Pros: Good price, looks cool (if your into LEDs and such), quiet (maybe too quiet)

Cons: The cooling fans are terrible! I got this case in a combo that I ordered and had trouble plugging in every single fan. The connectors are really cheap and I even broke the plastic on one of them. And then as if that wasn't enough when I powered it on the LED cooling fan on the side of the case made a terrible sound. After looking at it I realized the fan blades were pushed off the motor so it makes a grinding noise so I unhooked it until I replace it. The fan on the rear of the case was also rubbing on something but I tapped it and it quit. It really doesn't seem like the fans have that much power which kind of worries me so I will probably be replacing all of the fans with more powerful ones asap

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,
We're happy to hear that this case worked out well for you.

5 out of 5 eggsNeeds Wings.

This review is from: RAIDMAX SMILODON Extreme Black ATX-612WEB 1.0mm SECC Steel ATX Mid Tower Foldout MB Computer Case

Pros: Solid.

Easy EASY access to EVERYTHING.

Easy to clean the components and inside of the case. Open both doors and blow.

Easy to replace any part.

Cons: Had to cut away the little arm that sticks out on the green fan mount on the raidmax labeled arm to make room for video cards.

Over the years the feet that hold the right wall on have loosened/bent.

Hard to clean the case, in particular the front fan. (What case isn't though)

No front USB that isn't hindered by a door.

Depending on your video card choices you may or may not be able to use the top one or two HDD slots. Although I think if you need more than 2 HDD"s get a NAS.

Other Thoughts: The cons aside I can NOT give this thing less than five stars. It's taken a true beating over the years yet doesn't really show it. It's the most accessible of all home style cases I've ever seen that can still keep the cats out.

Need a large worskspace to open her up all the way.

Since I've bought this beast I've looked for a replacement case. I've found nothing that comes close. I've used it for my personal case since 2007.

My daughter now wants/needs a new case and I'm going to be buying her this one. I don't care if it looks like dad's.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,
Thank you very much for your positive feedback.
We're glad that this product worked out so well for you. We hope you'll enjoy this item for many years to come & we wish your daughter will like this case as well.
We appreciate you choosing Raidmax.
