The Smilodon case from Raidmax makes assembling a system easier than ever before. It has a modular, tool-less design that makes the initial build and future upgrades easy. Both side panels latch into place for easy access. For the ultimate in convenience the right side panel has the motherboard tray completed with backplate attached. This lets you install the mobo and all your cards, then lock it into the case as a single unit.

Drive installation couldn’t be easier. The external bays all use Clicklock technology, just slide the drive into the bay and lock it into place. The hard drive rack is removable for easy installations and upgrades. All of the necessary drive rails come in a slide out box so you don’t lose them.

Once you have everything assembled you need to make sure it stays cool. Raidmax has loaded the case with plenty of fans. A 120mm fan is mounted on the front of the case to draw cool air in and blow it across the hard drives. Side and rear mounted 80mm fans keep the air moving over all critical components. There is also an 80mm fan with blue LEDs that mounts to a support brace that holds your expansion cards steady and blows cool outside air over them.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat case!

This review is from: RAIDMAX SMILODON Extreme Black ATX-612WEB 1.0mm SECC Steel ATX Mid Tower Foldout MB Computer Case

Pros: Very pleasing to the eye and very fun to have both side panels fold down; makes the initial set up with the mobo quite a bit easier and less annoying.

Cons: My cable management is a bit clustered but it shouldn't be a problem for most.

Perhaps would use a few different fans.

Other Thoughts: Worth its price, but in retrospect I wish I had chosen a bigger case to spread my stuff out easier.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Case

This review is from: RAIDMAX SMILODON Extreme Black ATX-612WEB 1.0mm SECC Steel ATX Mid Tower Foldout MB Computer Case

Pros: I have had this case for about 5 1/2 years now and it has been awesome. Fold out sides made it extremely easy to install all components. Some may have issues with space but everything fit great for me. Good airflow. I still have the stock fans and they are just now starting to make a little noise. It has a good sturdy build. I have moved many times since I purchased and have never felt nervous in the least about the anything being damaged. Would highly recommend to anyone, especially for a first time build.

Cons: Not really any "Cons" but more of mild annoyances.
Just like many of the reviewers, I feel that it is lacking in flexibility for cable management. You can figure something out if you get a little creative, but it could benefit from a organized cable management system in the build.
I really like the look of the front door hinge with the LED strips and streamlined muscle car grill theme....but it really kind of gets in the way of the front I/O panel and disc drive. It isn't really a big deal, it is handy for keeping my kids from messing with the buttons on the front panel. As I said it is just a mild annoyance, but it does cause a little frustration sometimes. As it is, I am on the fence about whether or not I would change it considering how much I do like the look.
I also think it could benefit from a large top mounted fan. It doesn't really NEED it, but it would be that much better for someone who runs a more demanding system that produces more heat. Hot air travels up....just sayin'.

Other Thoughts: If Raidmax were to redesign this case to accommodate for my small peeves and keep what I like about it I would buy it for sure.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Product (Slight Setbacks)

This review is from: RAIDMAX SMILODON Extreme Black ATX-612WEB 1.0mm SECC Steel ATX Mid Tower Foldout MB Computer Case

Pros: The product itself is great! Made of strong material, not "flimsy" like some other cases I have come across. Great airflow! Unique fan placements that can only be done by a case where they are part of the design. This case is a solid case pretty much all around.

Cons: I really like the airflow, however due to the design of the fan mounted on the clear side of the case you must be careful of what graphics card you decide to use. If you are going with a larger card I would recommend a larger case. Unfortunately with the case design most motherboards will only have one (or two at max) locations where you could place a larger vid card. In my case it was either under the fan or basically laying on the bottom of the case. So I had to go and make modifications to the fan casing in order to allow for a larger graphics card and that pretty much filled the case limiting the number of HD that can be added. I'd say 2 would be the limit of this case and I would not suggest dual graphics. As I got this case in a combo with the graphics card it was not an issue I expected, but definitely something to be aware of. They should have made the case around that fan able to be adjusted rather than have it stick so deep into the case.

The other issue that contributed to the -1 egg was the lack of mounting screws. The case I received did not come with enough to support anything but a micro board. Fortunately I build a lot of computers for people and had plenty lying around including some that matched the ones that came with the case.

Other Thoughts: Top mounted PSU (This is not the reason for my -1 more of a person preference) The increase in airflow due to case design will help with this, but still not a preference of mine.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Beginner's Case

This review is from: RAIDMAX SMILODON Extreme Black ATX-612WEB 1.0mm SECC Steel ATX Mid Tower Foldout MB Computer Case

Pros: Decent Ventilation

REMOVABLE MOTHERBOARD PANEL!?!?! WHHHAAAAT!?!?!?!

Standard 120mm fans work great when replacing the stock ones. (I replaced the intake and exhaust fans with Arctic Cooling fans for more power.

This thing called a GFX Card Stabilizing Bar?! Loooove

The easy open HDD bay thing-a-ma-bob. I like the swively.... lol

This case seriously overall isn't a bad design. It's easy to navigate, easy to change things out (Exceedingly in fact) and it's not cheap feeling.

Cons: Since I can't use the C.R.A.P.P.Y. word... The DVD HOLDING clips broke. I had to use the screws for the dvd drives. :( (I like those better anyways)

The stock fans that came inside sucked so poorly that my case heated up to SUN like levels. Replaced with A.C. Fans (read above positive notes) and was like new!

Top Mounted PSU. Yucky...Super ultra mega yucky. I can't STAND top mounted PSU's anymore. I dunno why, maybe my last case I was spoiled. lol

Other Thoughts: For $90...Get yourself a Nzxt Source 530 case if you're a modder and want cleanliness. If you're not, this case will do you some seeeerious justice. It's been keeping my Quad AMD system at cold temps for a while now, and I've NEVER had a major issue with it. Ever.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Case

This review is from: RAIDMAX SMILODON Extreme Black ATX-612WEB 1.0mm SECC Steel ATX Mid Tower Foldout MB Computer Case

Pros: It's quiet case, which was a concern since my last case was a cooler master and sounded like a jet engine with all the fans. It's laid out really well too. I really like the side hinged panels that made installing the mobo and other parts really convenient.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: If you actually know what you're doing and how to install parts, the case is amazing.

5 out of 5 eggsblack/green

This review is from: RAIDMAX SMILODON Extreme Black ATX-612WEB 1.0mm SECC Steel ATX Mid Tower Foldout MB Computer Case

Pros: the panels are amazing easy to install with the pnaels able to fold down. this case look better in person the pictures does it no justice.

Cons: wish there could of been some sort of cable management system somewhere.

Other Thoughts: would install some sort of clip to slide the wires into to keep them up and away from everything as well hide wires from site.

1 out of 5 eggsjunk

This review is from: RAIDMAX SMILODON Extreme Black ATX-612WEB 1.0mm SECC Steel ATX Mid Tower Foldout MB Computer Case

Pros: Nothing except cheap fans with wires that constantly get in the way which wouldn't be bad if you only had to go into case a few times but this thing was such a pain, causing me to constantly be in the thing that I wanted to rip them out!

Cons: This thing is junk, looked cool when I first saw it. My pc build is going on 2 months all b/c of this tower. Though I was getting bad pc parts, went to a pc repair shop they couldn't solve it. RMA'd a lot and too Newegg I'm sorry but this case really is junk. Tower kept setting of red cpu light pc wouldn't post. Thought it was a bad ground took mobo out of case still red light, changed power supply, ram, cpu, mobo, still red light. Finally put each wire into mobo while turning it on to check them. Turned out to be a bad ground up inside the rest button which is heavily glued in so I can't fix it unless I dig at it. Good news you don't need a rest button. But f this case.

Other Thoughts: Also where you put HDD is directly across from gpu so it makes it super tight for no reason. And another thing the front of case is peeling off where case and led lights meet, I keep pushing it down and it sticks for a second then pops up so the led light on front of case looks all wavy instead of clean and straight. And if you want anything wireless the front door doesn't leave enough room for those mini wireless usb transmitters. I hate this tower!

Manufacturer Response:

4 out of 5 eggsQuite Nice

This review is from: RAIDMAX SMILODON Extreme Black ATX-612WEB 1.0mm SECC Steel ATX Mid Tower Foldout MB Computer Case

Pros: Good looking budget gaming case
Easy access to everything
Pretty quiet

Cons: Front door upper magnet doesn't really contact the door so it opens too easily;
Not all fans have mobo 3/4 pin leads and use the dreaded 20th century Molex instead;
Front panel fan lead too short by a looooong margin, thank goodness I had a spare fan; To that extent all leads are way too short and cannot be routed nicely.
Non-painted, gray interior - bleh.

Other Thoughts: For the money the case is quite nice, doesn't feel cheap or cheesy. About the only real beef that I do have with it (other than the fan connections which in all is pretty minor) is the non-painted interior. Obviously this is a somewhat flashy case with quite nice LED lighting and big side window meant to show off your spiffy innards. But you'll mostly notice (hence 4 stars) is the ugly gray metal inside. Of course it's nothing $3 worth of spay-paint won't fix, but maybe it wouldn't be too much of a bump in price to do that from the factory.

5 out of 5 eggsSturdy Case - Fans Aren't Great.

This review is from: RAIDMAX SMILODON Extreme Black ATX-612WEB 1.0mm SECC Steel ATX Mid Tower Foldout MB Computer Case

Pros: -Steel construction
-Plentiful Hard Drive Bays (For a Mid-tower)
-Tool-less design for most drive bays.
-Relatively Wide case, allows for a Cooler Master V8 heatsink to JUST fit inside.

Cons: - I don't think any of these issues deserve to knock an egg off of this case, all of these problems are ones that i knew about before purchasing.

-Creative cable management is required, this case has literally, NO room for cable management, but that is obvious from the pictures.

-Case fans started buzzing after about 2 years, but those go out regardless of what case you have.

-I suppose it's a bit heavy, but where are you taking it?

-ALSO, for those who plan on using a aftermarket heat-sink (so everybody) the motherboard tray will not fold out if a large heat-sink is on the CPU. The heat-sink hits both the power supply and the top of the case when attempting to fold the motherboard down. Raidmax should have had the tray hinge to the side rather than down, but this is visible in the pictures.
