4 out of 5 eggsGreat Case, Shoddy Hardware

Pros: Very nice, small, good looking case and well built, but had to take an egg off because of the hardware.

Cons: Supplied hardware not good. The brass MB supports were fine but the assortment of machine screws were poorly plated, threads not clean, and just generally of poor quality.

Other Thoughts: The poor hardware was not a big deal to me since I have tons of spare parts laying around in my shop. For the person building this on his dining room table however, it could have been a problem.

3 out of 5 eggsDecent case, terrible hardware pack...

Pros: It's cheap and looks decent. Packed well, arrived undented.

Cons: Cheap hardware (see Other Thoughts).

Other Thoughts: This case is terribly let down by the cheap hardware pack. The stand-offs are easy to cross thread as others have pointed out and once you cross thread the stand-off you're stuck (very frustrating). I really had to work hard not to do that, and it shouldn't be that way. Rosewill is capable of doing better and they really need to improve the quality of the HW.

1 out of 5 eggsWorst Case I have ever come into contact with in 25 + Years

Pros: Sorry, cannot honestly think of one. Wait a minute, this case could be the Benchmark of the lowest end of the scale (quality and durability)!

Cons: The case arrived "bent", even though the box and packing were in perfect order (a previous return perhaps?). The fans and connectors are absolutely the most inferior quality I have ever experienced. Many of the mounting holes do not line up. The overall layout must have been designed by Mr. Magoo. We decided that putting out a computer with a case like this would just be an embarrasment for our company. Instead, we now will use it for an example of why customers should not go for the cheapest price!!!

Other Thoughts: Seriously, the worst computer case that you will ever come across. By the way, you cannot write a review with less than 1 Egg!!!

1 out of 5 eggsThis is progress?

Pros: It's a case. That's it.

Cons: The hard drive cage no longer has cooling. Worse, it's permanently mounted so that your hard drive hangs over your motherboard, and likely, your memory. SERIOUSLY, you'd better hope that you can install your motherboard with that thing in the way. And like everyone else noticed, the standoffs are cheap and poorly threaded, almost guaranteeing a stripping issue. They're also so small that I thought they were going to puncture the motherboard as I was tightening it.

Other Thoughts: This is $10 MORE than the R-101 series, but everything is cheaper and more poorly designed. Why are we always moving backwards, and why is it SO DIFFICULT to design a good mATX case? I'd never buy this again, and it's too bad I can't return it.

The R-101 series was as close as anyone got to a perfect mATX case, and now it's gone. Unreal.

2 out of 5 eggsNice looking - but quality issues

Pros: Nice looking, good ventilation.

Cons: Only half of the motherboard standoff connectors will actually screw into the case.

Other Thoughts: Like another reviewer I had a lot of problems with the motherboard standoffs stripping through the metal of the case. This is reason enough to avoid this case.

Also when I removed the front cover to put in a DVD drive, one of those connectors broke off also. That location connector also makes one if the drive bays unusable since the screw protrudes into the bay.

The case was cheap on sale, but I the quality should have been better given what it retails for.

5 out of 5 eggsMy daughters Yugo chasis

Pros: I actually like this case even though it was inexpensive and equivalent to low/midgrade craftsmanship. It's quite roomy and has plenty of ventilation. Perfect for small builds and midsize GPUs.

Cons: None yet

2 out of 5 eggsNot Impressed

Pros: Looks Nice. Thumb screws in back. Everything on front of case is near the top and handy to reach.

Cons: Front cover would not pull off with reasonable force applied, did not wish to break the case. one hard drive bay was not usable because the front cover clip would not allow the hard drive to slide all the way in to align the screw holes. The cords from the front usb/buttons were not very well managed/barely long enough.

Other Thoughts: Not a very expensive case, looks good, if you need something basic with not a lot of room for expansion, this is a good case.

1 out of 5 eggsI REALLY miss the R101-P-BK. This is junk.

Pros: Style, I guess.

Cons: Where do I start? No more hard drive cooling, since the hard drive cage is now permanently mounted above the front fan. You'd better be prepared to remove the hard drive if you need to replace the motherboard or even memory, and you'll still struggle with it and wonder why it's not removable. The motherboard standoffs are pure junk, and the fact that they're not fully threaded means that they strip the threads on the ultra-thin motherboard panel sheet metal. Don't tighten them far beyond finger-tight. And don't tighten the motherboard too much either, because the standoffs are so tiny in diameter that they won't even contact the grounding pads on your motherboard. The strangely-curved front panel looks nice, but only if you don't have an optical drive installed the way 99.9% of us do. With an optical drive? It looks like a band-aid. The rear fan opening can't hold a 120mm fan, we're down to 92mm there. So, all in all, Rosewill's "new" line of cases to replace the R101 series are GIANT LEAPS BACKWARDS. Why? Probably cost-cutting. Always a good move, right?

Other Thoughts: We used to use R101-P-BK cases by the boatload. I LOVED that case. The standoffs were preformed, solid, and strip-proof, there was room for two 120mm fans, and the hard drive(s) were cooled by airflow from the front fan. Someone at Rosewill or their supplier decided that none of that mattered anymore.

We took a gamble with this case, and I'd never order it again. And now we're stuck trying to find a case as good at the NOW-DISCONTINUED R101-P-BK. So far, no luck. The internally-identical Thermaltake Wing Ma is also gone.

Thanks a lot, Rosewill.

4 out of 5 eggsCase works, had to replace standoffs

Pros: All go together easily. Had to install DVD burner and HDD before installing the motherboard. Installed memory and CPU on motherboard before installing it. Inserted the standoffs and tried to install the motherboard. The standoffs had not been tapped out as deeply as needed. Pulled the motherboard and replaced the standoffs with similar sized standoffs. Everything went smoothly after that. Installed the PSU last, no problems other than the standoffs. Nice looking case.

Cons: Standoffs were not tapped to correct depth, had to replace them

Other Thoughts: Over all does the job and looks nice doing it.
