2 out of 5 eggsUsed to be good...

This review is from: Rosewill BLACKHAWK Gaming ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - Five (5) Preinstalled Fans, Side Window Panel, Top HDD Dock

Pros: Great case with plenty of room for expansion. Everything fits well and the case is designed for wire management and the like.

Cons: The power button quit working after a year and a half, leading to having to buy a new case.

4 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: Rosewill BLACKHAWK Gaming ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - Five (5) Preinstalled Fans, Side Window Panel, Top HDD Dock

Pros: Huge case. Plenty of expansion for whatever you would need to do. Amazing amount of USB ports on the front. All of the cables are labeled well and the case has a GREAT built in cable management system. Highly recommended if you want a water cooled solution or are planning on an SLi configuration.

Cons: I had higher expectations. The case panel screws looked used and cheap. Not that anyone is looking at the back of the computer, it just felt cheap compared to the price of the case.

Other Thoughts: Honestly, had I known how big this case actually was I likely would've chosen a different Rosewill case. This thing is HUGE. I prefer the Rosewill LINE-M - Micro ATX Mini as it is perfect for a single GPU / cheap gaming solution build.

2 out of 5 eggsWe Are NOT a Fan

This review is from: Rosewill BLACKHAWK Gaming ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - Five (5) Preinstalled Fans, Side Window Panel, Top HDD Dock

Pros: It's a pretty case, with plenty of fans, drive bays and some semblance of cable management. I liked the fact that USB (both versions 2 and 3), mic and headphone ports are located on the top front of the case, especially since I have a standing desk. There's plenty of room, once you get the cables sorted out (more about that in a minute) Though i don't have one, it looks like the tower will easily take a custom CPU cooler, if you decide to get one, and there's space to add extra fans.

Cons: So... about that cable management: I imagine it's great IF you are only using a few hard drives, but since I am using six (soon to be five), well... cable management is a joke. The set up of the hard drive bays makes it nearly impossible to comfortably get everything in sorted AND actually close the case without problems. Even using cabling from a fully modular PSU, setting the cables up in a way that they aren't crowding each other like crazy is very hard, at best. Indeed, there's quite a lovely bulge on the back side (of the motherboard) wall--the result of having to practically stand on the bottom part of the computer to get the side back onto the tower.

And oh, yeah--if you're planning to load a DVD burner in the top slot, it'd better be very skinny: the I/O cables are set in such a way that it is impossible to put anything, even a small player, in that space.

I notice one of the MFG Responses to someone else that commented on this was that they should "see to their cable management (that is, essentially purchase adapters that would let one lay the cables more flatly if you're using more than a few hard drives at once)." How about this company design a multi-drive tower in such a way that ALL the drive bays can be used without it being a major hassle?

Also, the hard drive holders are made of flimsy-feeling plastic, and do not hold SSD drives stably in place; they rattle around quite nicely, thank you.

Despite my substantial annoyance with these issues though, the REAL reason I'm gave this product two stars--and seriously considered giving it one--is because, after all the work I did to get all my components into this case, NEITHER of the USB 3 ports work, one of the front fans started whistling after running for less than 20 minutes of use, and neither of the front panel audio jacks work worth a ping. Indeed, as other have mentioned, even if the headphone jack HAD worked, it wouldn't matter: the stupid thing pops halfway out of its socket the moment you stop holding it in place. Since a great deal of my business requires both recording and listening to notes, the idea that I will have to slide around a 30+ pound tower to use the jacks from my tower's sound card is just ridiculous. Having the jacks and the USB 3 ports in the front was a major reason for purchasing this tower... that they don't work, and the fact that this seems to be a known issue, is just offensive.

Other Thoughts: If you want a pretty tower, don't particularly need the USB 3 slots and audio in/out jacks you paid for, and don't mind not being able to use all the drive slots without having to buy extra accoutrements, this tower is for you. Me? I'm looking for another case, and not at all looking forward to blowing off several MORE hours of my work day to move my computer to another tower. Still, I'm happy I bought a separate warranty when I bought this.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Value

This review is from: Rosewill BLACKHAWK Gaming ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - Five (5) Preinstalled Fans, Side Window Panel, Top HDD Dock

Pros: Lots of room - 3 ODD + 6 HDD + 3.5" FDD bay. 6 USB ports up top. HDD bay for 3.5" HDDs on top of the case.

Cons: HDD bay isn't hot swap - only works on reboot. Fans seem a little flimsy. Top ODD bay loses space due to cables up top - will need a slimmer drive to use this bay.

Other Thoughts: I had a missing rubber foot and a bad fan - NewEgg/Rosewill support was beyond fantastic in terms of fixing these problems, sending replacements. If they had a 4.5 star rating, I would grant it. Losing the top bay and a little flimsiness prevent 5 stars, but really close.

5 out of 5 eggsBaddest mother of a case I've ever bought

This review is from: Rosewill BLACKHAWK Gaming ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - Five (5) Preinstalled Fans, Side Window Panel, Top HDD Dock

Pros: - Arrived very quickly.

- Has 6 USB (2x 3.0, 4x 2.1(?)), audio in/out, power/reset buttons AND A FREEKIN' SATA/POWER HDD/SSD SLOT on the top of the box! (Wife saw the ports and said: "That's cheatin!") Obviously designed for floor use.

- Has internal cable-routing features with back panel (behind the mobo) access. I've never had computer internals look this pretty. Has internal-external portals, but haven't thought of a use for them yet.

- Incredibly roomy, probably to facilitate liquid-cooling.

- Back panel access is designed to service SATA drives rotated with ports facing the MoBo wall (this is evident by the fact that the removable drive-mount trays make connecting cabling to a mounted SSD impossible from the main access panel. Mount SATA drives with ports facing the MoBo).

- Internal HDD bays are customizable, and can be removed for extra-long PCIe cards

- Main access panel has a cute window next to its panel fan.

- Extremely well-ventilated; much of the external construction is a metal mesh around a pressed unibody structure, through which the blue fans shine.

- Bottom side has included cleanable (and omitable) filters provided to protect PSU ventilation.

Overall, incredible value.

Cons: - This is not a "desktop" tower. It's a "floor," or a "deskunder." Because it's so roomy, it's twice the size of a standard full ATX desktop tower, at 8x20x20", and given the location of its readily-available ports at knee-height, it was clearly designed to be floor'd. It's described as a "Mid Tower," but there's nothing "Mid" about this.

- Fairly sure this will need vacuuming more often than a case that has fewer fans and holes.

- Nature of the drive mounts (ports parallel to the MoBo, as opposed to ports perpendicular) means that both access panels must be removed at least once each, and cables must be properly routed, every time you want to properly install/change/remove internal drives.

Other Thoughts: - Many, many fans. 5 with an option for a 6th if you don't use expansion bays.

- Fan LEDs glow blue while in service; not sure the light can be turned off.

- With the drive expansion bay mounted on the top, you'll want to buy another SSD just to use it.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat gaming chassis

This review is from: Rosewill BLACKHAWK Gaming ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - Five (5) Preinstalled Fans, Side Window Panel, Top HDD Dock

Pros: Overall nice case. Easy to work with and plenty of space. It comes with five preinstalled fans, which is very nice, and can take a lot more. The side fan doesn't come with a dust filter, but the front ones do, and you can get a $5 filter if you need one. The LED fans look nice. It isn't too loud and the cable management is nothing special, but it works. The shape of the side window tactfully misses my dangling cold cathode sound sensor thingy, while giving a nice view of the computer as a whole. The front is easy to take off to clean dust filters.

Cons: The doors are difficult to put on and take off, but this could be seen as a pro. The side fan is tilted, so it very slightly pushes against my 212 Evo HSF, not enough to cause a real problem, but now the HSF is slightly tilted and some of the metal sheets are squeezed together in one corner, but it shouldn't cause a problem with smaller HSFs. The top is difficult to take off, because the mesh, which gets dusty, is in one piece with the header. I don't know if this is common, but it does make dusting difficult.

Other Thoughts: All around a great-looking and -performing case at a reasonable pric. A few minor cons, but the overall quality of the case outweighs them significantly.

5 out of 5 eggsRosewill Blackhawk Gaming ATX Mid-Tower

This review is from: Rosewill BLACKHAWK Gaming ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - Five (5) Preinstalled Fans, Side Window Panel, Top HDD Dock

Pros: I have two of the Rosewill Blackhawks and they are excellent Mid-Towers. Everything I need is their. The temperature levels are below the norm. All interfaces for the various products I installed were dead on.

Cons: None.
