5 out of 5 eggsOutstanding case, but a few nits...

This review is from: Rosewill BLACKHAWK Gaming ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - Five (5) Preinstalled Fans, Side Window Panel, Top HDD Dock

Pros: Solid case, affordable as heck, nice features

Cons: Minor nitnoys only:

1. Documentation is a LITTLE skimpy.

2. The top SATA docking port uses a motherboard pinout (and doesn't specify what motherboards , and not standard SATA data or power cables: bundling a converter socket for standard SATA3 connectors, or at least offering one as a post-purchase would be nice.

3. All hardware is in one little bag. Would have been nice to have sorted it into individual bags by type.

4. HDD trays mount SSDs far back into the drive bay: would have been nice to have them mountable with connectors at the same depth as regular HDDs

Other Thoughts: Great case overall, just pointing out that there's ALWAYS room for improvement. . .

5 out of 5 eggsNice Case

This review is from: Rosewill BLACKHAWK Gaming ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - Five (5) Preinstalled Fans, Side Window Panel, Top HDD Dock

Pros: Cooling, price, looks, quality

Cons: None yet.

Other Thoughts: Large case, but I knew that. Excellent cooling. Was worried about the stock fans, but they are pretty quiet. Good quality, no sharp edges, MB risers came pre-installed. Lots of screws. HDD tool-less trays are a bit flimsy, but will work just fine. Has mounting screw holes for SSD in 3.5" bay trays - so they mount without adapter. Very happy.

4 out of 5 eggsrosewill blackhawk

This review is from: Rosewill BLACKHAWK Gaming ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - Five (5) Preinstalled Fans, Side Window Panel, Top HDD Dock

Pros: this is an awesome case with 5 pre-installed fans with blue led lights. plenty of space for everything you could want.

Cons: Id like to say it was perfect but one of the molex connectors had a wire that was not properly connected, this is the reason I gave it 4 eggs. I Know newegg and rosewill both try to give us the best quality merchandice possible but sometimes stuff like this happens. I would still highly recommend this case to anyone.

4 out of 5 eggsSolid case

This review is from: Rosewill BLACKHAWK Gaming ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - Five (5) Preinstalled Fans, Side Window Panel, Top HDD Dock

Pros: I bought parts for a new computer about 8 months ago and this was the case I got to replace my aging Antec from about 6 years ago. I wasn't familiar with Rosewill but reviews were good and looking over the specs and other information, I saw lots of room and lots of cooling. The Antec was the first actual standalone case I'd bought, and this was my second, all others being your generic $30 case-with-built-in-power-supply. Wow, what a difference. And even "cute" little things like the top-accessible hard drive port? I've already used that a few times. It's sturdy, roomy, pretty quiet even with the fans all going, and I haven't complained since I put it together.

Cons: The *only* drawback I can find is when I was routing the cables behind the motherboard tray, and that might be because of the PSU I'd picked up - EVGA SuperNOVA 750 G2 220-G2-0750-XR, a 750W fully-modular power supply. EVGA's cables are thick and heavy-duty, and tucking them behind the motherboard tray was a bit snug - I had to force the right side panel closed. Another 3ish millimetres should do the trick!

Other Thoughts: Incredibly surprised and happy with this purchase. Give a few extra mm behind the motherboard tray and they'd take over the market ;)

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Product

This review is from: Rosewill BLACKHAWK Gaming ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - Five (5) Preinstalled Fans, Side Window Panel, Top HDD Dock

Pros: Cosmetically attractive design, the case has a very attractive look that really can't be fully seen in the pictures. With the LED lights on, it looks especially nice. The manufacturer has actually re-released 'refreshed' versions of this case making changes based on reviews and feedback. The version sold here is the newest refresh, they have done away with the plastic clips for cards replacing them with thumb screws. It now features dual USB 3.0 ports as well which is a very nice change. The Case has plenty of room, my EVGA GTX 970 fit just fine without having to remove drive cages. The Cable Management system is very nice and easy to use. The case comes with zip ties for the cables to help keep things nice and clean. Having 5 fans pre-installed is a very nice touch, case has great cooling right out of the box. The design is quiet even under full load and heat dispersal is great. Temps are consistently lower then my older Termaltake Armor case. Building with this case was quick and easy, straight forward and efficient design.

Cons: The main power cable from the Power Supply to the Motherboard is a very thick cable and there isn't quite enough room for it on the back of the case. I was able to get the back plate on, but there is a slight bow due to the cable being so big. I didn't deduct from the case rating since this is a common issue with almost any case. It would have been nice if the case were just a tad wider to accommodate, but it's not a big deal. Also, the DVD Drive is difficult to install, the wiring block from the top USB header hangs down into the top bay where the drive goes. You can get the drive in, it just takes a little work. Neither of these slight issues warranted a deduction of overall rating. Case weight is moderate, not the heaviest, but it's not light either.

Other Thoughts: I have built systems with several cases and overall this one is probably my favorite. Very nice design, cool looking LED Fans, very quiet, great thermal performance and not overly heavy. I use this case for my i7 'Gaming Rig' and wanted good thermal performance. This case has fit the bill nicely. This case has features that are usually not found on products at this price range. Other manufacturers charge considerably more for these features. Very impressive product.

3 out of 5 eggsOK case

This review is from: Rosewill BLACKHAWK Gaming ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - Five (5) Preinstalled Fans, Side Window Panel, Top HDD Dock

Pros: great looking case

Cons: was not happy with this case at all the plastic on the front dose not fit the case at all. the edge on the plastic were off and has a big edge on it so it looks like they don't fit and the caddies and were bent out of shape. and the screws and hardware that was included was cheap the case was over all not very good.

Other Thoughts: the case IMO is not worth the money

4 out of 5 eggsGood overall case

This review is from: Rosewill BLACKHAWK Gaming ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - Five (5) Preinstalled Fans, Side Window Panel, Top HDD Dock

Pros: USB 3.0 ports on the top of the case along with regular USB 2.0 ports, a hard drive dock, sturdy power switches on top as well.

The side mounted hard drives are convenient of you get into your case a lot to swap drives around.

Cons: I found that the side mounted hard drive enclosures and brackets worked fine pulling drives in and out, but when I tried to connect a sata cable and close the case only a right angle sata connector would work. Wait there's more. The very little brackets that allow you to slide the drive into and out of the bay are poorly designed such that you have to clip them to fit the right angle sata cable onto them. Fortunately my power supply also came with right angle sata power connectors.

Other Thoughts: Despite the lack of forethought on the little brackets and space for the case side panel this case does work well. I had to clip the brackets and buy a few right angle (90 degree for the impaired out there) SATA cables, but no big deal. What would have bothered me the most would have been using a cheap power supply without right angle (90 degree angle again) sata power connectors for this case.

I still recommend the case though.

3 out of 5 eggsNot bad but QC issues

This review is from: Rosewill BLACKHAWK Gaming ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - Five (5) Preinstalled Fans, Side Window Panel, Top HDD Dock

Pros: The case is nicely built and has a fair amount of room. More of a cross between a mid tower and a full tower. There is quite a fair amount of cooling from the included fans, but don't expect the quietest fans ever.

Cons: The case came with some of the glossy plastic parts chipped off. Not the biggest problem, but it is an issue. The biggest issue I have faced has to due with the usb hub as well as the power connector for it. When I was building my rig, I noticed that one of the connectors in the molex cable was incredibly loose as in it actually could be pulled back somewhat. This made it difficult to attach it to the psu plug since that one loose piece kept getting pushed back. Took a bit of finangling to get that yellow wire into the molex power plug. Another issue that came up is that one of the usb 2.0 ports at the top no longer works.so currently only 3/4 are usable. Not a deal breaker, but still something that needs to be said. There is also the issue of the power going to the hub. Be aware that it cannot power an external hard drive. at all. Not too sure if it can power an external ssd since I don't got one on hand.

Other Thoughts: Rosewill RMA process is a quite a pain since you have to send it into them -> super expensive to ship a case with the new shipping charges based on weight AND size. I'd prefer if they just shipped out the replacement parts, but that's the customer service you get for the price.
