5 out of 5 eggsGreat Case!

This review is from: Corsair Carbide Series 500R Arctic White Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Gaming Case

Pros: Runs nice and cool
LED Control
Very quiet stock fans
Easy to build with
Cool color scheme
Durable design

Cons: Shipped with a small bend in a thumbscrew. Not a big deal, but the packaging for the case was not more than just a few styrofoam pieces to hold it in.

Other Thoughts: I'm glad I was convinced to pony up a few big ones for this great case. It does the job and is probably one of the best mid-tower in the market

4 out of 5 eggsQuite surprised

This review is from: Corsair Carbide Series 500R Arctic White Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Gaming Case

Pros: - Plenty of included fans, making buying extra fans needless *1
- Two USB 3.0 ports on front case panel
- Front IO panel fan speed control and fan LED toggle *2
- Large side panel fan for massive airflow at very quiet levels
- Expanded side panels for better cable management in the back
- Plenty of grommet holes and cable tie runs
- Easy access to drive bays (5.25" and 3.5"/2.5")
- Lots of space inside, with lots of options regarding HDD/SSD cages being installed or removed
- Top panel lifts revealing great candidate space for fans or water cooling radiator
- Plenty of PCI slots in the back

Cons: - Outdented side panels allow for great cable management space, but it felt like the "lanes" the case encourages you to use is close to the flat part of the side panel. Almost like they give you space to use, but then encourage you to not stay in the "center" of that space

Other Thoughts: *1 = You'll obviously still need a CPU fan
*2 = Fans still connect via molex directly to PSU causing them to constantly spin at low, medium, or high settings based on front IO toggle switch. Would have been great to have them connect to the motherboard for more precise cooling, but that isn't necessarily the case's fault

The front IO panel seems to have a defective audio speaker/mic ports, though I am still in the middle of troubleshooting this. I did not dock an egg for this, merely a mention.

I originally wanted the black version of this case, but the white was on sale and had rebate making it ~$50 cheaper. Once I started working with the case, am I not regretting the decision.

It's a great product, and you won't be disappointed. I aim to follow this up with front audio IO results, indicating if it needs an RMA on the front daughterboard or not.

5 out of 5 eggsCorsair 500R, Update: 1 year+ later

This review is from: Corsair Carbide Series 500R Arctic White Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Gaming Case

Pros: everything.
awesome space for my 240mm radiator in the top.
great ventilation for your PSU.
lots of room for hardware inside.
beautiful design.

Cons: LEDs are a little bit too blue. don't exactly match my other white LEDs.

Other Thoughts: response to multiple reviews here:

if you wanted fans in the top, buy some. the description clearly states how many and where the fans are located.

all of you claiming your PSU doesn't fit because screw holes don't line up:
you're putting it in upside down! there is a vent underneath for the fan to suck in air and then blow out the back!
hard to believe people can be this dim.

4 out of 5 eggsAn experience I don't want to repeat

This review is from: Corsair Carbide Series 500R Arctic White Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Gaming Case

Pros: I really like the white color and just the overall clean look of the exterior. I've had two cases before this one, both black and bulky. This is one is actually smaller than my last one, but feels like I can fit the same amount of hardware inside. The tool-less design is easy with the exception of the knockouts for the 5.25" drive bays. Th white led goes great with the white exterior. A big fan on the side will surely help cool the MB and GPU.

Cons: I'm going to start with the small things first. There's no cooling fans on top of the case. I know it gives you the option of adding fans or even a radiator, but the lack of an exhaust on top is a little disappointing. On the right side of the case, with all the cables tucked behind everything, I had a challenge of putting the side panel on after installing everything. You can see the raised part taper off as it reaches the front, but I think it does that too soon where it could have given you more cable room.

You have to remove the mesh 5.25" drive covers from the inside, which is a hassle. At the very top of the case, there's like a spring or something where you can remove the top cover. If you press on the front end just slightly, it springs up and it won't lay flush with the case. It's not as easy to press it back down and set it back to position.

Now for the not so fun experience. When I went to put in my PSU, I found it impossible to line up two screw holes. After some looking, I found that two rivets on the case were sticking up just above the small padded feet the PSU was supposed to sit on, which meant that it raised the end of my power supply just enough so I couldn't like up the hole to screw them secure. With some help from my dad, we cut the rivets down just enough to give me the clearance I needed so my power supply could be placed above the and flush with the back of the case.

Other Thoughts: I never had any trouble like this with a case before. I didn't want to send the case back for such a small detail, but I also had a little trouble finding a solution that didn't involve removing the rivets completely. It's not some glaring flaw, but I imagine quality control would have picked up on it if it went through inspection. This is my first day with the case having everything installed inside and I don't see any troubles. It's a good price and a great size and I think I'll enjoy it more than I did my Thermaltake. Despite my setback, I can't really give Corsair poor marks for an otherwise clean, slick case.

4 out of 5 eggsGood but a few issues building

This review is from: Corsair Carbide Series 500R Arctic White Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Gaming Case

Pros: Sturdy, looks nice, fans work well, you get most of what you'd expect from a case.

Cons: The holes for the PSU (also Corsair) aren't properly lined up, so I could only screw in the two on the left side.

The window where you see the motherboard's back through is a slightly obstructed by part of the case itself, so it was impossible to install the 212 EVO fan after the motherboard was already installed.

4 out of 5 eggsExcellent Case

This review is from: Corsair Carbide Series 500R Arctic White Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Gaming Case

Pros: -Excellent air flow and cooling
-Excellent cable management- hides pretty much all of the cables running around, plenty of space to do so.
-USB 3.0 ports on the front- good for plugging in that external drive.
-Conveniently-placed front ports & fan controls
-Three-speed fan and light controls.
-Separate fan and light controls allow you to turn off the lights when the fans are running
-Comes with lots of fans that you don't have to purchase separately
-Fans are very quiet- hardly noticeable, even at full speed.
-Fans have dust filters
-Case thumb screws make opening and closing the case a breeze
-Sleek, good looking design- doesn't look like a huge black box like my old case.
-Good quality metal with nice paint. Edges are all rounded, so nothing sharp. Feels high quality in general.
-Designed to accommodate a big radiator at the top.
-Bottom placement of power supply makes it more sturdy and convenient to install.
-Power supply can be mounted in either direction- air can blow into or out of the case.
-Tool-less drive installation (for the most part, see con below)
-Plenty of space for anything you could want in your computer- you won't be struggling to install anything.

Cons: -No external 3.5" bays for card readers or fan controllers (I required an adapter to use my 3.5" multi-card reader)
-The biggest intake fan on the system doesn't have a dust filter, defeating the purpose of all of the other filters (which is why I knock an egg off).
-2.5" SSD install requires screws to hold drives in place (not totally tool-less or convenient).

Other Thoughts: This case was a huge upgrade over my previous one, which I thought was awesome. Cable management, excellent cooling, and sleek looks won me over and it didn't fail to deliver anything else. The pros vastly outweigh the few cons. This is an excellent computer case, would recommend to anyone.

5 out of 5 eggsBeautiful, masterful case, easy to build

This review is from: Corsair Carbide Series 500R Arctic White Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Gaming Case

Pros: LEDs, airflow, space, cable management, accessories

Cons: Hmm

Other Thoughts: I built a PC in this case 2 1/2 years ago. It was a very easy case to build within due to ample room, and the case kept my components clean and organized, while maintaining a simple beauty due to adequate placement of LEDs and windows. Lightweight. Cable and HDD management very well designed. Plenty of room to expand. I added a Corsair fan to the top to add to the already good airflow.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat case

This review is from: Corsair Carbide Series 500R Arctic White Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Gaming Case

Pros: Great cable management
Sturdy
Quiet
120mm fans can be changed to 140mm
Looks great

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: The fan controller in the case has a 4 pin molex connector and my psu didnt have a molex connector on it. Luckily my local micro center had an adapter that worked for me. If your psu does not have an available moxel plug i suggest buying this with the case http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812816038&cm_re=sata_male_to_molex_female-_-12-816-038-_-Product

5 out of 5 eggsStormtrooper case = boss

This review is from: Corsair Carbide Series 500R Arctic White Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Gaming Case

Pros: This is a really good looking case IMO. That's a pretty important factor when I'm selecting a case. But on top of that, there are many great practical and functional features.

Quick pull-out and snap-in hard drive and DVD bay slots mean the only screws I had to use were for the power supply and the SSD because it's so tiny. Oh and the motherboard naturally. Also, there is room for about three computers worth of hard drives and DVD players. All the extra space is nice actually as it leaves a lot of room for air flow.

Filters on the front and bottom of the case where air is taken in mean a clean and cool inside. This alone made me jump from buying a $60-80 case to this one. Time will tell that it was worth it I am sure.

Air flow. The helicopter blade on the side of this thing moves a lot of air. And overall this case is very quiet.

Wire and cable holes mean a neat appearance. This is a great feature. Take advantage of it!

Cons: None.
