5 out of 5 eggsGreat unique case

This review is from: Thermaltake Level 10 GT (VN10001W2N) Black Steel SECC / Plastic ATX Full Tower Computer Case with Four Fans-1x 200mm Colorshift side fan, 1x 200mm Colorshift top fan, 1x 200mm Colorshift front fan and 1x 140mm rear fan

Pros: - Lots of space for the motherboard, CPU cooler and PSU.
- Unique, cool look to it which is less absurd in real life.
- All black interior
- 200mm fan compatibility

Cons: - The stock side fan, if not all the fans, were not compatible with my NZXT fan controller. The controller would power them but could not control their RPM. Considering I replaced them all, not a dealbreaker.
- Could use more optical bays rather than the oversized and unnecessary HDD swap bays. I use a front panel fan controller, optical drive, LED controller and a storage box, would have appreciated 3 more slots for a front fan.
- While the main part of the case is wonderfully roomy, the side panel behind the motherboard fits too close and doesn't leave as much room for cabling as I would have wanted. My cabling was done nice and tight and it took effort to close the case. This could have been easily solved giving it half an inch more space, and taking half an inch off the other main side of the case, as my Noctua NH-D15 fits with plenty of room to spare.

Other Thoughts: Love the case, has a really unique look to it that doesn't look so ridiculous in person. Looks wonderful with NZXT hue lighting installed. Had a few quirks that I listed above, but I really love the case and know it will hold up for a long time. Go for it!

4 out of 5 eggsAlmost perfect case.

This review is from: Thermaltake Level 10 GT (VN10001W2N) Black Steel SECC / Plastic ATX Full Tower Computer Case with Four Fans-1x 200mm Colorshift side fan, 1x 200mm Colorshift top fan, 1x 200mm Colorshift front fan and 1x 140mm rear fan

Pros: Pros:
-AHCI Hot Swappable Drives
-Excellent room in main cavity
-Direction side fan
-Easy on the eyes
-Easy to move around if you are into that thing
-Quality filters

Cons: Cons:
-This is what ruined the case, the backplate where you would like to hide your cables, gives you little to no room to hide them, so if you do not have a modular PSU, you are out of luck. It literally needs 1/2 a inch for cable management, otherwise you are stuck risking the very thin metal contact to your back thumb pins, so I was not able to hide my cables like I thought I was.

Other Thoughts: None really, sort of wish I did not buy it, but after the frustration of the cable management, and finding an unpleasant work around, and the other positives, decided to stick with it, but buyer beware, do not shuffle out good money for this, look into something else that was better thought out.

4 out of 5 eggsNice case

This review is from: Thermaltake Level 10 GT (VN10001W2N) Black Steel SECC / Plastic ATX Full Tower Computer Case with Four Fans-1x 200mm Colorshift side fan, 1x 200mm Colorshift top fan, 1x 200mm Colorshift front fan and 1x 140mm rear fan

Pros: It has alot of space and alot of air flow.
Love the led lights and fan control.

Cons: The hard drive hot swapping does not work.
The led red strips does not work.
The hard drive led does not work.
and the fan in the front does not work.
But the led on the fan does.
Other than that which is alot.
Its a ok case.

Other Thoughts: Thermaltake needs to works on these flaws.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome case

This review is from: Thermaltake Level 10 GT (VN10001W2N) Black Steel SECC / Plastic ATX Full Tower Computer Case with Four Fans-1x 200mm Colorshift side fan, 1x 200mm Colorshift top fan, 1x 200mm Colorshift front fan and 1x 140mm rear fan

Pros: -Wire management is very nice
-Lots of airflow
-Ready for 2 x 120mm fans on top
-Looks awesome

Cons: -People are saying this is big? This is a SMALL Full ATX case. I honestly expected it to be bigger but it isn't worth an egg because everything fits nicely. If you are getting an EATX definitely go for a bigger case.
-Getting the LEDs to work wasn't as easy as expected
-Me and Thermaltake have a different definition for "hot swap drive bays"

Other Thoughts: Overall, an awesome case. Looks great, the fans are quiet, not the biggest Full ATX case but definitely looks clean and tidy when everything is done.

4 out of 5 eggsNice

This review is from: Thermaltake Level 10 GT (VN10001W2N) Black Steel SECC / Plastic ATX Full Tower Computer Case with Four Fans-1x 200mm Colorshift side fan, 1x 200mm Colorshift top fan, 1x 200mm Colorshift front fan and 1x 140mm rear fan

Pros: Great design. I bought it for the hot-swap SATA bays. The handle is a nice feature. Tons of internal space. I love the grommets to route cables under mobo.

Cons: The power button didn't stand up to being pressed- at all. I had to take off the front cover and glue the button in place with some epoxy.

Other Thoughts: Despite the power button, I would buy again.

1 out of 5 eggsWhy you should not buy this case

This review is from: Thermaltake Level 10 GT (VN10001W2N) Black Steel SECC / Plastic ATX Full Tower Computer Case with Four Fans-1x 200mm Colorshift side fan, 1x 200mm Colorshift top fan, 1x 200mm Colorshift front fan and 1x 140mm rear fan

Pros: 1) You can hot-swap SSDs without needing to open the case.

2) Despite the PSU being mounted on the bottom, there is about a half inch space between the bottom filter and the PSU. Mounting a PSU with the fan downwards is not a huge dust magnet, compared to most other cases. The PSU will suck most air from within the case, rather than through the bottom filter.

Cons: 1) No PWM control and loud fans: I run a watercooled dual-G34 24-core system case, with the GPU included in the cooling loop. When I turn on the case fans at low setting, the system gets noticeable louder. There is no way to control the case fans via PWM, and only spin them fast when needed. You get two speeds: low or high.

2) Not really "hot-swap". While hot-swapping SSDs via the five trays works reasonably well, HDDs are a total nightmare. There is no backplane on the case, and thus no capacitors to protect from inrush current. When one HDD is plugged in, the other HDDs spin down temporarily.

3) No locator or activity LEDs for individual HDDs. This ties in to the point of having no backplane. So, if a drive fails and needs to be replaced, it's a guessing game as to which tray to pull out. SGPIO with a locator LED would have elegantly solved this.

4) Terrible routing of SATA cables. There's no easy way to route SATA cables so that the cables terminate at the same spot near the motherboard. Cable from bay 2 will be an inch longer than cable from bay 1, cable from bay 3 two inches longer, and so on. It tales some creativity hiding the excess cable length, and there isn't much space to do so. A backplane with a mini-SAS connector and a SATA to mini-SAS cable would have fixed this issue.

5) Limited watercooling options. There is room for a 2x120mm radiator on the top, and another 140mm radiator on the rear. Installing a 140mm radiator will cover up part of the mainboard, making it less accessible, so in many cases, this is a non-option.

6) Limited cable management options. There are cable clips to run cables up and down behind the motherboard tray on only one location. There are quite a few cables coming from the front panel of the case, and they will take up all that space. I've had to get creative and drill holes throughout the tray to be able to install zip-ties to get any decent cable management. This of course, voids the warranty. Besides that, there isn't much space in the back for any fancy management scheme. Too many cables, and the back panel can't be installed.

7) Terrible "tool-less" installation for the 5.25" bays. There is one plastic clip which is supposed to hold a 5.25" drive. The clip is terrible, and does not hold the drive snugly. I've had to remove the clips and use screws. This wouldn't be such a big issue if one didn't have to remove the front cover and two side panels (one of which is held by six screws) to access the mounting holes of the 5.25" bays.

8) Poor dust filters. I can't even call a plastic mesh a dust filter. There is as more dust getting into the case as there is dust caught by the "filters".

9) Poor construction quality. One of the plastic feet on the case broke. The motherboard tray is not as sturdy as one would expect. Although this case feels sturdier than other Thermaltake case, it is far from a top notch build.

10) Buzzes like crazy when several HDDs are spinning.

Other Thoughts: I could throw in more reasons as why to not buy this case, but that's besides the point. I would have given this case more points had it not been marketed as a full-tower gaming chassis; however, for such a classification, there is much more to be expected from a case.

The security of the HDD trays is a joke, as others have pointed out. I use the "locking" feature to prevent accidental removal of drives, nothing else.

The looks are great, and many of the ideas behind the case are also commendable, but the implementation needs improvement in too many areas. These would be my suggestions to improve the case:

1) Provide a backplane with one multi-lane SATA or SAS connector, and locator, activity, and failure LEDs for each of the drives. This would solve a huge number of issues. Those LEDs should be controlled by SGPIO, not some "hook up to SATA data line" hack. If the case allows for mounting SAS drives as well, great bonus point. SAS controllers aren't that expensive nowadays.

Also, the power connection(s) to this backplane should be 90 degree connectors for ease of cable management.

2) Provide vibration dampening pads for the side panels, and any part that can vibrate.

3) Do away with the "tool-less" design. It doesn't work

4) Provide PWM controllable fans. Whether there is one PWM input per fan or one for all three fans is less relevant. Also do away with the low/high speed buttons on the fan controller. No one in their right mind would keep them on high anyway.

5) Provide a tach output from each fan. Being able to monitor the fan speed of each individual fan is more important than changing colors.

6) Provide mounting holes for SSI motherboards. This is only two extra holes.

7) Increase the space in the back for wire management.

8) Make the top accommodate a 3x120mm radiator.

9) Use better quality plastics.

10) Provide USB 3.0 connectors for the front panel, and preferably use one cable per pair, terminated in a standard 20-pin connector. Also terminate the top panel USB cables in a 20-pin connector rather than USB-A.

11) Provide better dust filters.

12) Provide fans with better bearings. Magnetic bearings are preferred.

If all these suggestions were implemented, this would be a five-star case. It's the attention to detail which is lacking in this case. All the missed details are what makes for a horrible build experience. I have to put a lot more effort into making an elegant build with this case than with other gaming cases because of all the "little things".

The dramatic reduction in price shows that this case is not up to the standards that Thermaltake originally thought it to be. I used this case in three different builds, and have been disappointed by all the issues I found along the way. The main reason I stuck with this case, despite its many downfalls, is the hot-swappable HDD trays

5 out of 5 eggs"Thermaltake Beast"

This review is from: Thermaltake Level 10 GT (VN10001W2N) Black Steel SECC / Plastic ATX Full Tower Computer Case with Four Fans-1x 200mm Colorshift side fan, 1x 200mm Colorshift top fan, 1x 200mm Colorshift front fan and 1x 140mm rear fan

Pros: First of all, this case is a "beast"! I mean, a floor hogging, girlfriend confusing, dog growls at it, kids run from it, kind of case. I have built a few rigs but none that had body armor like this baby. If I ever get "swatted" I'm gonna hide behind this thing for protection. But seriously, this case is fun because with a push of a button, it can house 5 externally easily accessible drives, lights up like a garbage truck driving thru a nitro glycerin plant and is just plain cool. Literally. The fans are quiet and controlled with a high/low setting and the case door works fine on a level floor. The USB ports, power, reset, audio jacks and fan switches are conveniently located and work fine. I like this case because it is fun to install components in and becomes quite the conversion piece when people come over and look at it and exclaim "What the heck is that?". When it is on sale, it is a bargain and pretty solid. It definitely looks like something from the future! Just buy it!

Cons: Keep it clear on the bottom due to the fact that the power supply is mounted with its exhaust towards the flooring and you want to make sure air flow is not impeded. After filling this monster with components, don't try to lift it with its built in handle or it may end up like a wish bone off a chicken and bust where you least expect it. I'd use its handle of more of a steering wheel of sorts. The fan colors are not always in sync but can be turned off.

Other Thoughts: Just buy it. It will be fun to work with and can hold all your gear and maybe a small pet or two. Disclaimer, the pet part was only a joke, don't put live animals in your computer for their safety as well as yours. But you knew that right?

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect

This review is from: Thermaltake Level 10 GT (VN10001W2N) Black Steel SECC / Plastic ATX Full Tower Computer Case with Four Fans-1x 200mm Colorshift side fan, 1x 200mm Colorshift top fan, 1x 200mm Colorshift front fan and 1x 140mm rear fan

Pros: It has great cable management, tons of airflow, so much space. The hard drive bays are awesome as well. Hot swap makes life easy. Perfect design. This is the best case I've ever owned. Well worth the money. Adjustable LEDs. If you're a tech freak like me you have a build color for everything... this will match anything. Go great with Razer Chroma.

Cons: The size is the only real downfall to this bad boy. It is a monster. It is really heavy and kind of a pain to maneuver when you are installing everything. Once together though it's smooth sailing.

Other Thoughts: Best case I've ever owned.
