Antec P183 Black Aluminum / Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: Just a fantastic case...Im a smoker, and this thing...coupled with a few front intake fans (sold seperatly) keeps everything dust free and cool.

Cons: none

Pros: Quiet case. For futher quietness, I also add the sticky back sound absorbsion material throughout the inside, use a no-fan power supply with a very quiet fan blowing over it and out the back, use very quiet case fans, use a large CPU radiator so a high-velocity, noisey fan will not be required.

Cons: Plastic retainer tabs on both side panels and front section are brittle and are eaisly snap off, a common problem also with the P180 & P182. The front USB ports should be 3.0 not 2.0. The P180 & P182 had a fan mount in the center of the bottom chamber, it is not in the P183. A fan in the bottom should be located in the center for less noise, not at the front. There is no access to get to the bottom of the motherboard to remove the large CPU heat radiators, all that would be needed is to stamp out a 6 inch x 6 inch opening below the CPU.

Other Thoughts: I am satisfied with the case, but, I do have to cut an access opening below the CPU, install a fan mount in the center of the bottom chamber, install USB 3.0 panel in the 3.5 inch drive bay.

Pros: Sturdy build. Great size. Easy access to internals. Quiet (dampening material used and dampers for hard drives). Good airflow. Separation of PSU and motherboard into individual chambers.

Cons: Cleaning the front screens can be a hassle, but better then the dust getting inside.

Other Thoughts: Very pleased with my purchase of this case.

Don't like that with my video cards, 2 of the internal 3.5" drive bays are non-functional

Other Thoughts: I can hear my fridge, which is 15 feet away, over my computer. I have the 3 optional 140mm fans installed, 2 video cards in CrossfireX, the cp-1000 power supply, and a huge zalman cpu cooler in it... this thing is SILENT!

Pros: solid, well-built, dual chambers to isolate the power supply heat and noise, the p183 has gone through multiple iterations of re-engineering and improvement, to make it one of the best cases on the market today... i have owned both the p182 and this p183... i have run these cases in both positive & negative airflow configurations, they are hackable enough to support everything except serious sli overclocking, which may require a bit more airflow than you can get with five case fans in the upper chamber.

Cons: modding the case will give you the best results, i.e., clipping out the metal grid in front of the intake fans for more airflow, and adding a bay converter with fan in the upper compartment... i went with newegg part #N82E16811995035, it has a relatively quiet fan... during serious overclocking sessions, you'll want to prop the front door open, or bend it all the way back, for max airflow with three front fans... you may also have to snip out the metal fan outline on top, if it's creating vibration noise, or put a piece of foam in between it and the fan or grill.

Other Thoughts: There is so much mis-information in these reviews that it's scary... Bashing the filters is bogus, they are removeable, and they are the perfect combo of density vs. airflow, but you might want to trim out some of the plastic strips with wire snips, in order to increase the airflow... cable management is good, but you'll have to keep your wires tight in back, and you may need an extension cable for the top power supply connection to the motherboard... you do not need to buy standoffs for micro-atx mb's, they are included with the case hardware, and you can also unscrew the unused standoffs if you want.

Pros: I bought this case when it was on sale. I've never spent that much on a case before but I wanted to go big. When I got this case I started playing with it, and WOW, this thing is seriously quality made. The metal inside it is thick and not chinsey. Everything is well engineered, the PSU sits in the bottom to keep the heat separate from the rest of the components. There are extra slots to buy fans to cool your HDD's or the PSU. Once I stuck everything in there and closed the doors, I could hardly tell it was on!! There are no gawdy LED's and it does everything very well. If you want a quality case that is well engineered, keeps your stuff cool and runs quiet, buy this case!!

Cons: The case is a little large, but that's not really a con if you want to shove a ton of stuff in there.

Pros: The case has a nice sturdy feel. the aluminium panels are a nice touch. Unlike my previous Antec case the drives have individual drawers that come out easier which was one of the reasons for buying it. The cooling is great provided you buy fans for the front ducts. Al front dust covers are removable and do a great job at blocking out dust. I like the overall look and feel of the case. Had enough 5.25 bays to do what I wanted to do. Door locks to keep people from stealing your games at Lan partys not that that happens often but still nice to have. You can use an antec power supply or you can use a regular ATX one. There is extra holes for liquid cooling. Cant forget about the thumb screws. i; like the rubber fittings to hold the hard drives in place. It would have been nice to see the dvd drives get similar treatment.

Cons: Cable management is a bear but I am not overly surprised since none of my Antec cases had decent cable management. it is not roomy at all. When you get to fit a big cpu cooler in with an SLI setup it gets real cramped. wait until you add your raid 10 config and see how much breathing room is in there. I wish the top fan was a 200mm big boy rather then a 120mm tri cool but thats no huge deal. A motherboard trey would have been nice but also not necessary since I dont take my computer apart that much. I would have liked to see the inside painted black. Fan controllers in the front area rather then back would have been a nice touch.

Other Thoughts: Watch your fingers around those 5.25 bays and around the power supply opening. I cut my fingers messing around with the 5.25 bays but I was not being careful so dont say I didnt warn you. Plan your cables ahead of time. While building my new build I had to take apart and put back together my comp like 6 times before everything fit right so plan ahead of time. Make sure to weigh out the pros and cons to see if this is the case for you. I wouldn't reccomend it for first time builders. I think that a lot of case modders would love this thing and I would be curious to see what some can do with it.

as for the dust filters...the bottom 2 dont feel like they can be removed but they pull right off. Open the filter so it faces straight out and pull. Getting it back in is a lot harder then getting it out but not really hard at all.

Pros: Great case: tons of room, easy to work inside, quiet, stays cool

compatible with the excellent Antec CP series power supplies

Fits a Noctua NH-D14 no problem

Cons: The side of the case got a small dent pretty easily - not a big deal to me though

Other Thoughts: This case is huge for a mid tower

Pros: Solid design, no sharp edges to cut yourself on, easy to get at and install drives, looks good, super quiet. Building a system with this case was a breeze, and I've never assembled a PC from scratch before.

Cons: Case fan speed control is a physical switch -- you can't control the case fan's speed from your motherboard. Sides of case are thin aluminum, it is easy to accidentally dent them (cosmetic issue only). Hinge holding front door on seems flimsy compared to how solid the rest of the case is. Power and reset buttons are half covered by front door, half uncovered (why bother?). With a Noctua NH-U12P CPU cooler and ASRock X58 Extreme6 motherboard installing the cooling fans on the CPU cooler was _very_ challenging due to lack of clearance between the CPU cooler and the top fan on the case. An additional 5mm or more space up top (or smaller fingers) would make a big difference.

Pros: Well designed and sturdy, easy to organize and hide all the power cords, plenty of space to work and very good air flow.

Cons: The two main dust filters are not removable, and there are 6 of them total (when using one disk drive)..... plus they are not sealed, air gets sucked in around the edges and builds dust on the case itself.. plus the case has this rough texture (inside the door) which makes wiping the dust off far too difficult.
