CM Storm Scout 2 Mid Tower Chassis

The highly anticipated recreation of the benchmark in LAN gamer cases, Scout 2 offers refinements on its predecessor’s design to arrive at a theme steeped in the future of combat. These refinements are bolstered by improved steel reinforced carrying handles, bolted to the core structure. Front console connections have been updated to USB 3.0 while offering protection from adverse travel conditions with hidden sliding cover. Support for current high-end hardware is greatly increased by a removable HDD cage that supports VGAs like the NVIDIA GTX 690 and AMD HD 7990, making the Scout 2 better prepared for all conditions. Scout 2 comes in Midnight Black, Gunmetal Gray and Ghost White color.

REMOVABLE HDD CAGE
The HDD cage can be easily removed to accommodate long high-end graphics cards.

5 out of 5 eggsNice Mid Tower

Pros: I liked the second cover on the left side for cable management, which helps solve a lot of issues of appearance as well as function.

Has plenty room for a tall heat sink type cooler.

Rails for putting drives into drive cage are nice and simple. Comes with plenty of hardware.

Everything went together well during my build and quality seemed to be excellent.

Cons: LEDs are mounted high. I would have liked to have them mounted lower where they would be in my usual line of sight.

Other Thoughts: It is always hard to tell if a case will work good for your situation. After doing lots of research and getting measurements from the components I intended to use, it turned out to be a good match.

Note it has 2 intake fans in front, one at the bottom and one in the middle. The 5.25" bays take up the remainder of the space in the front. It also has one exhaust in the rear at the top. With an air cooler on the CPU, this shouldn't cause an air flow problem. My i7-5820k runs very cool. The two intake fans should create positive pressure to minimize dust coming in.

Also, most motherboards will come with an utility allowing you to tailor the fan speed curve vs cpu or motherboard temperature rise. I don't think cooling will be an issue with this case.

Cooler master also indicates that it can handle a single 120mm radiator in the back and they make no claims for mounting larger radiators in other locations.

If you need a lot more water cooling than that, there are a couple of grommets on the top rear you can run to an external water cooling set up. If that is not suitable, sounds like you need to go to one of those monster cases where you can run a quad 120mm radiator setup in the bottom.

This case can mount up a lot of extra fans.

5 out of 5 eggsFirst Build, Awesome Case

Pros: First PC build ever. Did tons of research on Newegg and youtube to find the right case for me. I love the handle on the top, makes moving and repositiong the case super easy. Good cable management. Tons of places to put fans. I added (4) more so I have lots of airflow. I ended having room for a fan next to the PSU, might add another. Why not? The sides do take a bit of force to remove, but i like that. Makes it feel sturdy and not cheap. I replaced the little legs with larger rubber ones I had at work. More airflow to the bottom (PSU).
I read the "cons" about the part of the top HDD cage that doesnt remove. That it restricts the airflow from the upper front fan. I was able to drill out the bottom rivets and just move the "metal wall" back and forth till the top rivets broke. Now my airflow is much better.

Cons: It wasnt free.

Other Thoughts: Couldnt have asked for a better case for a first build, or maybe I just dont know any better......haha.
Here is what I built....

5 out of 5 eggsCM Storm Scout 2 Advanced

Pros: Very roomy for a mid tower, excellent organization, bottom mounted PSU for better cooling, mostly metal, fits 7 120 mm fans, easy to carry around. If you're looking for a quality lan box, this is it.

Cons: Seriously, not a single one. I could even fit a CM V8 GTS in it. That's how roomy it is. It's friggin awesome!

Other Thoughts: If you game at friend's houses alot, or move around alot...not one single part of you will regret buying this case. It's awesome and the price is right. If you're not mobile, get the Storm Stryker instead.

5 out of 5 eggsBest ATX Case I've Ever Had

Pros: I have absolutely nothing bad to say about this case. Not only is it aesthetically pleasing and slick, but the handle (also cosmetically good-looking) is super handy, the cooling is by far some of the best I've seen for an mid-ATX case (maximum of 9x 120mm fans), the construction of it feels very sturdy and overall high-quality, the cable management is outstanding, the sliding door that covers the USBs and such on the roof is nice, the turbulence on the fan grills isn't bad, the window is nice, there are dust filters for both the bottom fan and the PSU, I mean what I am I supposed to say? Saw the gunmetal version of this case for years and always thought it would be amazing--my AZZA Toledo 301 case finally got all busted up on me after moving, so I decided I'd finally pick this up--it is totally worth it. Hands down the best case I've ever had or seen. Period.

Cons: The LED switch on the top of the case (next to the power and reset buttons) was weird. I turned it on the first time I powered the computer, and it only sort of turned on half of the LEDs for the two front fans. After screwing around with it for a bit, I got it to light up ALL the LEDs, then left it alone for good. It was probably just a weak switch on my case specifically--not a huge deal.

One of the HDD fan screws stripped on me. The fan still fits on the cage fine and at a good, tight tension, but I can't put a fan grill on it now since the stripped screw won't go in all the way with it on. Could've been my fault somehow, though. These aren't really cons, just little issues I've personally had.

Other Thoughts: No questions asked, get this case, you will not be sorry. It has everything you'd want.
