Cooler Master HAF 912 Mid Tower Chassis

Cooler Master’s HAF 912 further enriches the HAF series by adding a compact, yet fully featured mid-tower solution for enthusiasts and budget conscious gamers alike. Its seemingly small exterior supports a plethora of interior features such as twelve devices and high end GPU cards.

The HAF 912 embodies the rugged aesthetic and qualities of its brethren while remaining attractively priced. Its traits more closely resemble that of a mid to high-end case than that of other cases in its price range. The HAF 912 pays tribute to the legacy of HAF 932 & HAF 922 in ease of installation, high airflow, and compatibility with water cooling hardware.

HAF 912 is the most compact solution in the HAF Series that still provides full desktop tower component support.
The HDD cage can be easily removed to accommodate long high-end graphics cards. Rotate the cage 90 degrees to adjust your system airflow and cable management setup as you need.

5 out of 5 eggsSturdy and roomy

Pros: -Nice strong case, made almost entirely out of metal
-Lots of space to fit anything that you'd need in a computer, including just about any size of heat sink
- Very functional inside and out, keeps all of your expansion options open
- Finger screws makes for easy access into the main side panel

Cons: -Little bit heavy, but I personally never move it
-Both side panels need to be removed to clean the front fan/take of the front panel, which requires a screwdriver

Other Thoughts: Wonderful case, I love it, now that I'm looking to expand I know I have plenty of room to. I highly recommend this case. :)

4 out of 5 eggsgood case, ruined by the instruction booklet

Pros: Good airflow, good size, nice amount of fan space, can manage the cables really easily and effectively depending on your PSU, it's kind of hard to get good management if your PSU has short cables causing things to be stretched to its fullest, but the case limits this factor a good deal. And to me, I like the look of it, gives it a kind of battle rugged look.

Cons: It did only come with 2 fans, which is listed as such, but I would have like it to have come with the larger fitting top exhaust fan instead of the back fan.

And the instruction booklet is just as horribly designed as any other electronic components instruction booklet, why can they just make a simple easy to hold easy to read instruction manual?

1 out of 5 eggsmany things wrong

Pros: this is a somewhat cheap case that does its job cooling

Cons: First of the audio and microphone ports on the front of the case don't work so i have to be extra close to my computer for headphones as i have to plug them in to the mono in the back. Also when i first built my pc the case had a grounding problem which i had to put insulators in between the mono and case for the pc to work after 1 week of calling and wondering what was wrong. Overall this case has brought many inconvenience to me. bad buy.

Other Thoughts: i hope manufacture will replace when i get a hold of them as i always get put on hold.

Manufacturer Response:

I am sorrry to hear that you have had a less than satisfactory experience with the chassis. We do offer warrantied part request and you can request a new I/O panel for the case if you would like. Please see the attached link. You can reach me at (888) 624-5099 and my extension is 169, or you can reach me by e-mail:

We can figure out a resolution to the ground issue. Also, always double check to make sure the standoffs are correctly placed.

4 out of 5 eggsDoesn't come with everything you might think

Pros: Well built case with plenty of room for upgrades/addition and excellent airflow. Case is nice and roomy enough to be able to work inside comfortably.

Cons: You might think this case comes with more fans than it actually does. When purchasing this item I believed it came with 4 fans and had room for 2 more. It actually only comes with a single 120mm fan on the front and one on the rear. Now, fans are cheap and easy to install so it's not really a major issue if you're fully aware of what you're getting into.

Other Thoughts: Would buy again.

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Excellent capacity for airflow, and plenty of room for hiding cabling. Case is of fairly sturdy construction, and is open enough to easily work inside of.

Cons: Kit included screws, cable ties, and a 3.5 to 2.5 HDD adaptor, but did not come with the twelve HDD rails promised in the manual. Seems to be a recurring problem, given a little bit of research; the full accessories pack is available for purchase online, but is out of stock. Besides which, paying for installation pieces that are supposed to be included is not particularly appealing, especially considering the shipping costs from the states.

Furthermore, the front panel's USB cable appears to have been damaged, with part of the insulation hanging loose displaying what appears to be the frayed ends of the wiring's shielding. Minor complaint, but still irritating nonetheless.

Other Thoughts: If it had contained everything, I could happily recommend this to anyone looking for a solidly built tower, especially for beginners. As it stands, though, there appears to be something of a history with these rails not shipping.

Manufacturer Response:

I apologize that you did not get all the rails with the chassis. You can actually submit a part requests for more rails. Cooler Master offers warranited part requests. Please see the attached link. Furthermore, in regards to the USB cable, I am assuming that you are talking about one of the internal cables that is connected to the I/O panel? If so, you can also request another I/O panel via the part request site. If you decide to submit the parts request, you can email me at and I can get the requests approved for you. The part typically take 2-7 business days to ship. If you have any other questions, comments and or concerns, you can reach me at my aforementioned email address or by telephone by calling (888) 624-5099 x169

4 out of 5 eggsHighly recommended with some reservation

Pros: -Was able to fit the rosewill hercules 1600w huge power supply in this thing.
-Fits large graphics cards with removal of middle bay.
-Can install two 200mm fans if needed.
-Well made enough

Cons: -Only comes with two 120mm fans, they also have very short 3pin cables, though they do come with molex adapter extensions. This was very frustrating as I had to order extensions.
-The doors on the case have noticeable play. This may become a problem with vibration noise.

Other Thoughts: I purchased this from amzon, the same model. Very good budget case. If buying 200mm fans, be aware some do not fit. The only ones that may fit are the cooler master brand as I keep on reading.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat case

Pros: Great design.
Roomy for a mid tower. My R7 260X video card fits in it perfectly but if I upgrade to a larger card later I can just remove the middle HDD cage and that will free up more room for a larger card.
Lots of airflow in the case.
It has a lot of space for fans, and supports water cooling options.
The HDD cages give you some options. You can mount the middle cage side to side, or front to back. Or you could just remove it. Also the small 2.5" drive rack can be mounted on the case floor or if you remove the middle cage you can mount it ontop of the bottom cage.
Has a +1 vertical PCI expansion slot in the back, which is perfect for things like eSata or USB brackets.
First case i've seen that has rails for mounting HDDs and I like it. Just attach the rails on the side of the drive and slide into the frame. No screws needed. To remove: just squeeze the ends of the rails and slide out.

Cons: Before I list my "cons" for this case I want to say that none of them are really deal breakers for me, but might be for someone else, and they don't lower my overall satisfaction with this case enough to warrant a lowered rating.
-HDD and Reset LED's are red and bright. Maybe too bright. Instead of small round lights they are half inch long rectangles. More surface area = more noticeable light. I prefer to sleep in a very dark room and it's a little distracting. This might also bother some purists who prefer more subtle lights on their cases.
-Wish the front panel had more suitable room for case badges. The 6 plastic parts that extend out into the mesh fan coverings are ok for smaller case badges, but dont fit larger ones so I had to stick them directly onto the mesh between the extended parts.
-Putting the face plate back on after installing my drives was a little rough. It was a very tight fit.
-It's 2014 and this doesn't come with eSata or USB 3 support even though most MoBo's now have these things standard. Too bad CM hasn't bothered updating their standard design for the 912 and the Advanced model doesn't seem to be available anymore. It's not a total loss though since 5.25" card readers with eSata and USB 3 are very common and affordable.

Other Thoughts: For those who like to deck out the inside of their cases with LED and show off their mad cable routing skills this case DOES NOT come with a see through acrylic side panel. CM DOES sell one on their site though, so you do have the option to get that if you have your eyes on this case. I know I might eventually buy the side panel but it's not a big thing for me right now.

The "shelf" design looked a little weird to me at first. It does have it's uses though. It's actually the perfect spot for my external hard drive.

Airflow over my previous case is a huge step up. I kept the rear fan where it is but removed the front fan. Installed my 2 Zigmatek CLF purple LED 120mm fans in the front for intake. Set up the fan from the front as "Pull" on my CM Hyper 212 EVO (airflow front to back). And currently there are no fans in the top or side spots. This setup easily kept the temps under control while stress testing with Prime 95.

Initially I wanted a different case but I realized that the 2 I had my eye on were too big for the tower slot on my desk. So I had to refine my search to a Mid tower case. In the end the design of the CM HAF 912 is what won me over. This thing offers superior airflow and enough room inside to accommodate almost anything you can put inside of it. My experiences with it so far show me just why this thing has so many positive reviews.

5 out of 5 eggsnearly two years later...

Pros: this case has been sitting next to me for over 1 1/2 years now and i still think it looks good.. has stood up to my taking it apart on numerous occasions and messing with its guts..fairly good in the cable management area..cut out for cpu installation.. pretty nice to work with and a solid bit of weight to itlll

Cons: very little for a mid tower..

Other Thoughts: fits an atx board easily; plenty of fan choices... i painted mine satin black on the inside right off; looks so much better..
