Cooler Master HAF X Full Tower Chassis

The case that is held up as the benchmark for full towers, HAF X has remained the flagship of the highly popular High Air Flow Series (HAF). Its rugged militaristic design offers a tough casing that provides outstanding protection while providing an unprecedented ease of use when it comes to building and managing a complex and powerful system. This extends to support for the latest graphics cards and components.

The HAF X can handle up to four full length graphics cards.
Using micromesh filters located in the front bezel, top exhausts, side panel, and bottom floor, the HAF X is resistant to dust buildup.
A high airflow design strives to eliminate overheating with Large 200 and 230mm fans that spin at lower RPMs to ensure high Airflow without high noise.
There are two X-Dock bays at the front that are compatible with up to two 3.5” or 2.5” drives.
Two front ports are USB 3.0 and compatible with SuperSpeed USB. The HAF X ports are backwards compatible with USB 2.0.

4 out of 5 eggsKeeps Cool, But...

Pros: Keeps the hardware very cool
Very Big

Cons: Gets dirty quick
Very Big
Front bottom fan broke within a month

Other Thoughts: Overall a good case however be ready to clean the dust out often. This happens due to the amount of fan activity, trade off it keeps the hardware cool.

3 out of 5 eggsBroken during setup

Pros: 1. Roomy. Needed it for my new 970 card.
2. Big, low RPM fans that keep it cool and quiet.
3. LEDs in case. Nice touch.
4. Wheels on the bottom! Nice!

Cons: 1. My major gripe: The plastic frame to the right of the power button on the front, top of the case broke during installation as I was trying to manhandle this massive case around. I'm shocked that a 180 dollar case is made of such flimsy materials. Watch yourself while fitting this case.
2. The front fan and the hard-drive slots are a pain. You have to take the back panel off (which is easy enough in itself, thank goodness) in order to route the cables. The hard-drive bays themselves also appear to be the same flimsy material on top of the case. I didn't break one, but be careful.

Can't be helped: The placement of fan power cords weren't very friendly with my GIGABYTE P67A-UD4-B3. I had to hook them directly into the power supply, but I managed.

3 out of 5 eggsBuild quality could be better

Pros: Cheapish price for a high end case, decent room.

Cons: Cheap build quality, very poor.

Other Thoughts: Do yourself a favor and buy a quality case, I bought a Cosmos II for my other build and the quality was sooooo much better.

1 out of 5 eggsGood Product, ehh on the company

Pros: Great case, works as expected although connector to 1 fan does not work

Cons: bought this because it was a deal with the rebate. Submitted my rebate on time per their deadline, received tracking 23618229, website said it was mailed out to me, waited 3 months, and it never showed up. After calling customer service to have it resent, they said that my mailing wasnt postmarked by the due date....weird because I work at USPS and I personally dropped the letter off myself before the cutoff date. The funny part is the lady then tells me "oh ya this happens quite a bit. Even if you drop the mail off on time, if it ends up sitting on someones desks for days or the post office messes up something on their end, then you're out of luck i'm sorry". Insane for a customer to drop off the required info on time and then be out of his/her rebate do to no fault of their own. Probably wont shop cooler master again, could have gotten a deal on something else without a 3 month hassle.

Manufacturer Response:

Good Afternoon Jaimie,

I apologize you're having issues with your fan as we can replace that through our CM Fanzone Parts Request under warranty with link below. In regards to your rebate, it looks as if this is an offer through New Egg and a Third Party provider as our main offices do not process this. You can get more information regarding your rebate through who can further assist you.

If you would like to discuss our product then you can contact us through Live Chat, Support Ticket, and phone.

3 out of 5 eggsBig

Pros: Big, lot's of room.

Cons: haven't even used it cause the screws holding in the Power Supply Mount are stripped so it's kinda hard to put in one when you can't take that mount off.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Product

Pros: Very spacious and versatile with a generous amount of options for high air flow. Had this tower for over 2 years and to this day after having routinely conducting a full computer clean every 6 months, inside and out, it remains undamaged due to it's smart distribution of materiality between the metal and plastic. With it's pre-designed structure it holds 5 air cooling fans, but because there was so much extra room I had a spare 230 mm fan which I installed on the inside sandwiching the hard drive bays between two intake fans which is completely unnecessary, but it doesn't interfere with anything else inside.

Cons: The only con I found after 2 years is when it comes to fully cleaning the system. I like to dust out all the filters within the openings of the case which are covered by a perforated sheet of metal. In order to detach them you have to unfold these sharp edges of the metal which can be a pain figuratively and literally at times. Minor problem though, you can just use a tool or gloves if it's that bad.

Other Thoughts: When it comes to pros/cons the pros definitely outweigh the cons with the con really being such a little issue. The longevity of it's place in the market and the high volume of impressive scores are self explanatory. For those with enough room to accommodate it's large size and interest in having enough room to fit hardware of all sizes, then this was and still is a great product.

3 out of 5 eggsUseful case but it has its flaws

Pros: Its HUGE. The front/back space is enormous and you don't really even have to tie anything down in the back to be able to close the back panel. Comes with 3 200mm fans and the ability to have a big side-case-fan which is very useful if you're going to have aftermarket cooler cards in sli, giving those cards adequate airflow or exhaust. It is very spacious (except for one part which I'll get to in the cons) and has a lot of cool features. This case's forte is cooling gpus. It was made for the fermi cards (gtx 400-500 series) which ran incredibly hot, and the sidefan was meant to blow air onto the pcb pipes of the gpu. Its not really needed for blower-type cards anymore but is still very useful for acx sli cards as I've said before.

Cons: Even though the case is huge, the top compartment for whatever reason, is not. There's a few rails on the top which make putting in a radiator and fan AND routing the cpu power around the back almost impossible. You can still route it around the front but that kind of defeats the purpose of cable management. Also, its VERY hard to get wires up and around the top since there's only 1 very small opening to do so. Would've been a perfect case if the top compartment had some bigger openings with rubber grommets and the radiator mounting rails were higher up. There's also a lack of rubber grommet openings on the bottom beneath the motherboard, but that's probably just due to the case having the abillity to house extended ATX boards, which is just a trade off you have to live with.

Also the backplate openeing on the case is too small to put brackets behind the motherboard while its in the case, but not really a big deal.

3 out of 5 eggsNot worth the price - Far better options

Pros: Very Very roomy
Usb 3.0 on Front Panel
200mm fans
looks great!
some good coolermaster engineering (wire routing grommets, sliding power/led button shield, easy to use hdd and 5 1/4" drive bays)
Large window w/ 200mm fan
great packaging

Cons: I do have many problems with this case. There is a psu cover to hide your cords, which may be removable, but is extremely hard to place on again and route wires through when the build is finished.
my usb 3.0 front header came 1. way too short to reach my mobo in a clean looking way, and 2. filled with plastic shavings! which bent my mobo's pins to the point of it barely plugging in even after i fixed it all, and it does not hold in place easily, if you even somewhat touch it, it will fall out.
On my right side panel, not only are both panels extremely loud and hard to get on, the places of which the screws go into are drilled in the wrong places, it came with the top screw jammed between the panel and the main frame, and after i got both screws out it wasnt actually even on, it just fell off.

Other Thoughts: I am looking at it right now with my build finished, it looks great, and i feel that it will serve very well, even though it caused many problems during the build process.
Actually, it looks like the cooler master logo isn't even straight...
I thought that the build quality on a $180+ case would be far better..

3 out of 5 eggsBeware no way to get parts

Pros: Solid and big. Looks cool.

Cons: I've had this for a while now and long enough to change my system a bit. To my surprise there is no way to get parts off the US website. I had to order from Norway to get a new HDD tray and an SSD tray (it only comes with one). I also wanted a face plate for sd card reader. Bottom line check their website if you plan on needing any extra parts more than likely they don't sell them anymore.
