Cooler Master HAF X Full Tower Chassis

The case that is held up as the benchmark for full towers, HAF X has remained the flagship of the highly popular High Air Flow Series (HAF). Its rugged militaristic design offers a tough casing that provides outstanding protection while providing an unprecedented ease of use when it comes to building and managing a complex and powerful system. This extends to support for the latest graphics cards and components.

The HAF X can handle up to four full length graphics cards.
Using micromesh filters located in the front bezel, top exhausts, side panel, and bottom floor, the HAF X is resistant to dust buildup.
A high airflow design strives to eliminate overheating with Large 200 and 230mm fans that spin at lower RPMs to ensure high Airflow without high noise.
There are two X-Dock bays at the front that are compatible with up to two 3.5” or 2.5” drives.
Two front ports are USB 3.0 and compatible with SuperSpeed USB. The HAF X ports are backwards compatible with USB 2.0.

4 out of 5 eggsHigh Air Flow but leaves options to be desired

Pros: High Air Flow
Big Fans
plenty of room
Large amount of drive cages

Cons: GPU Fan Mount required to mount fan
GPU Fan Mount only covers bottom card
HDDs bay rubber rips
GPU support arm didn't fit
Must take off both panels to access HDDs
No dust cover for PSU
No removable dust cover for side 200mm fan

Other Thoughts: This case would have been perfect if it didn't have a lot of small problems that build up. It's big enough for 3 way SLI, and my monster Noctua NH-D14 cpu cooler. I feel in this age that any case that makes you deal with screws to take off the panels is a little bit ridiculous.

Also ridiculous is the fact that I had to use the GPU mount just to pull air over my HDDs and push them to the GPU. Only problem was that not only does it not line up with my cards but the cut outs for the power cables didn't line up so I had to cut them out.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Cooling to the max! Because this is a full size tower, you have all kinds of room to grow.

Cons: None, but if I had to put something it would be no easy to remove dust filter for the power supply.

Other Thoughts: This thing is big but if you have the room, go with a full size tower over a mid tower for future growth needs.

5 out of 5 eggsVery good quality

Pros: Cooler master is a very good product. I have most of my stuff Cooler Master for the fact that their customer service is great and the products are good quality. This case is perfect. Lot of room for upgrades and very good air circulation

Cons: The I/O panel went bad. Contacted Cooler Master and they are shipping me a new panel for free. Can't ding an egg for a minor error in electronics

5 out of 5 eggsIt's huge!

Pros: It's huge! I mean, HUGE!
My new Sabertooth MB looks puny in there, and you can barely see the wiring. Fans are very quiet! I love the cover over the on/off switch, no more accidents! Love the front facing ports, easy to see and use.

Cons: The side fan hooks up to the motherboard directly, they should make a two piece plug so you can hook it up easier once your video card is installed.
Dust filters are a joke, as they are on all cases.
I got a pair of pantyhose from my GF and cut up pieces and used tape to hold them in place. Much more efficient and easier to clean! I also put a piece of Filtron, washable filter material under the PS. It's available at auto parts stores.

Other Thoughts: Newegg sent the case via UPS, but instead of 4-5 day delivery I got it in 3 days!
The mother board was sent by FedEx, which delivered it to the post office in 4 days, who then brought it to me the next day.
FedEX is great for documents, but for bulk packages, why not skip them and just send everything via the post office for a 4-5 day delivery?

5 out of 5 eggsOne of the best cases ever!

Pros: I have owned this case for more than 5 years now and it hasn't made a single disappointment in myself. The case gives a ton of room for the internal components to breathe. I have added red internal lights and it makes the parts inside the case look fantastic. I recommend this case for anyone with a passion for gaming and love the color red (Add internal lighting if you do)

Cons: It is a large case but that's the sacrifice you have to make for something this awesome.

3 out of 5 eggsDecent case

Pros: Good cooling and solid steel frame constructions. VGA fan duct has good design and is able to be adjusted. Plenty of space for drives(minus the xdock). Case is fairly quiet with all 7 fans installed. Power supply cooling duct is also great idea. Plenty of cable management holes to keep the components free of air obstructions. Simple led for power/hdd activity was appealing for me.

Cons: X-dock is horrible design. They may have well called it the good luck-dock as in good luck getting your drives to fit properly in it. I had to use a ton of force to get the drives to seat well enough so the bios would recognize it. The back of the xdock is so close to the vga duct you may have issues with wiring it. I will not be using the X-dock.

The case could have also been constructed better with the screw threading. Nearly all the screws are a pain to get started. At least the motherboard mount comes with a bit to help with this.

I always hate when you buy a 200.00 case that it does not come with all the fans. I needed to supply my own 120mm for the vga duct. I also purchased an additional 200mm fan for the top since I knew that was optional prior to the purchase. I can see why it is an optional fan. Getting all the wires from the front of the case is now a challenge with the 200mm installed.

The top cover that slides to hide the power switch is cheap plastic and pretty much pointless. A better switch design would have been much more appealing.

Other Thoughts: If you are going to spend 200 on a case, I would go with something else. I wish I did.

3 out of 5 eggsNice Tower, But...

Pros: I think this thing could survive a fall from the roof and suffer only cosmetic damage. Definitely a man's tower case. The black, military appearance will cause your wife to say, "That thing isn't going in the living room!"

Cons: 1. I've built every computer I've owned...perhaps 10 or 12. I couldn't take much advantage of the cable management routing. Several cables were barely able to reach the mainboard sockets. The large GTX-780 video card doesn't help matters.

2. The spiffy little 3.5 trays seem like a good idea, until you start cramming in 4 drives. And with no way to access the opposite end of the bays, you're stuck with either plugging the cables to the drive and THEN sliding them in, or trying to cable them to the front. Each time I tried sliding one it, one of the side-locking pins would fall out. It got so bad, I tossed all of the trays and stacked the drives into the empty space.

Other Thoughts: The "manual" was worthless. You're left figuring out some stuff on your own.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome case

Pros: This case is huge!! Very easy to work with and with the hidden cable technology, it makes air flow exceptional. Very easy to work with. The wheels are a nice addition. This case has no problems with the newest huge video cards.

Cons: none

5 out of 5 eggsMasterful Cooling

Pros: Great construction, and attention to detail. Easy to follow instruction manual, and very nicely engineered to facilitate a quick/efficient build and dust control/cleaning. This rig is astonishingly quiet for an air-cooled system. It should accommodate available water cooing for the overclocker.

Cons: A case this great will command a great motherboard and graphics card. In turn you want great cooling. My motherboard ASUS Maximus Hero vi has connectors for 4 controllable fans managed by included software. Came equipped with 2 pin fans. I am replacing the fans with Bit Fenix 4 pin fans. Translate- $100, to get exactly what I want.

Other Thoughts: I would recommend this case to anyone wanting a well built case that is well built, has both great looks and performance.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome case

Pros: Sturdy. You need to kill someone, just throw this case at them. VERY well built. No sharp edges that i found to slice you fingers like the cheap stamped and clamped cases. Installed fans were very quiet. Lower PS mounting makes for a cleaner look in my opinion and hooking headers and cabling drives can be easier and better routed when the mobo is higher. Plenty of bays and space for drives.

Cons: none really

Other Thoughts: There seemed to be some "fluff" items sent such as this "arm" that would have been installed to "latch" the graphics card(s) in place. Worthless, just take it out. People buying this case should be for the most part gamers with graphics cards WAY to big to even consider using it.
The side fan was VERY close to the graphics card on the bottom. (MSI GTX 680 2GD5/OC)
