The Cooler Master RC-690-KKN1-GP is designed to keep your system cool, no matter how hard you work it. The top and front are made of a metal mesh to facilitate airflow. Three 120mm fans are installed at the factory, in the front, rear and side. There is room for four more, two on the top, and one each on the bottom and side. You can also add an 80mm fan to the back of the motherboard tray to cool the CPU from both sides.

Each of the five external bays has the same mesh cover and the 5.25" to 3.5" adapter is also. All of the bays have a tool-less design for easy installation. The removable hard drive racks are also tool-less and come with anti-vibration pads for decreased noise. Each of the expansion slots has its own lockdown lever to eliminate screws. Cable routing clips minimize clutter and increase airflow.

To keep the case’s design lines pure the two USB, one FireWire, one eSATA and two audio ports have been put on the top of the case. This also makes them easier to access if the case is beside your desk. The power and reset buttons have been mounted on the side of the front bezel for the same reason.

3 out of 5 eggsNice case but...

Pros: Very nice case with quiet fans. Easy to build out.

Cons: No case speaker and buttons have a very cheap feel.

Other Thoughts: Due to no case speaker and the power/reset button functionality is the reason for the three egg rating. I am somewhat disappointed as I have used coolermaster cases on several builds and have always been happy. This is sub-standard for them.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Case

Pros: up to 7 fan cooling system
very sturdy
tool-less install
sexy

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Very sturdy case, has plenty of room for expandability, perhaps too many fan locations but thats not a bad thing, I am building my first computer and this thing was a great starter. Got it with a rebate and free shipping so definitely added some value before I even put anything in it (thanks Newegg).

4 out of 5 eggsFirst Build Impressions

Pros: This case comes equipped with three fans, LEDs, and easy installation of most components. A number of the installation factors do not require any tools (HD, CPU, motherboard mounts, etc.) For a first time build, this case caters to you while still providing top of the line ventilation.

Cons: There are only three gripes I had while working on this case:

1) To install the optical drive, you have to use a great deal of force to take off the front panel. Basically, you have to use a great deal of strength and rip off the entire front face. I felt like I was going to break it, but it's how it has to be done. Not user friendly at all.

2) It came with cheap cable management hooks. These are made out of flimsy plastic and screw into the chassis of the case. I just threw those out, use tie wraps.

3) It took a while to figure out this problem, but the stock fan on the side of the case is hitting the side panel mesh. This creates an obscene amount of sound. To fix, simply flip the fan 180 degrees to make it an outtake instead of an intake fan. You may wish to invest in an extra fan should you do this.

Other Thoughts: Besides the three cons I mentioned, this case is a dream. Having a the front panel ports on the top of the case makes things a lot easier. Also, the fact that it has feet to allow air to flow under the case for your PSU fan is simply genius.

3 out of 5 eggsAlmost Perfect

Pros: Very well made, packaged securely, it came with 3 fans, all wires well labeled, gobs of room, heavy as my mother-in-law.

Cons: The usb ports should be in the front but I knew that when I bought it. The front bezel is scary to remove, I am sure that if removed several times it will break.

Other Thoughts: I would not hesitate to buy again but only if I can keep the tower in the open because inside my cabinet, I cannot get to the USB ports.

5 out of 5 eggsLooks great - keeps things cool

Pros: I love how this case looks. This is my first cooler master case and I have not been disappointed. The air flow is fantastic and I have had no problems keeping temp down on my new i5 system.

Cons: My PSU has pretty long cables, so trying to manage those cables in the bottom of the case got a bit messy.

Other Thoughts: For a sub $100 case, it is fantastic and I would recommend it over any of the more expensive cases I've gotten in the past.

3 out of 5 eggsGood, But Not for Full ATX

Pros: Very quiet and all the wiring worked exactly as it should. The case is very easy to open, and closes up tightly. The 3.5" drive bays are nice. Everything clicks in exactly right and is quite snug.

Cons: This case will fit a full ATX board, but the cable management system gets in way of the IDE and P1 connectors. Fortunately, the guides just unscrew. Also, the cables for the top mounted ports connect so far forward, that the top most 5.25" bay is really useless. Finally, if you're looking for the mobo screws, they are mounted on the sides of the 5.25" drive cage.

5 out of 5 eggsthe BEST case for the money

Pros: This is the absolute BEST case I have worked with, doing several builds over the years with various brands. Its a gorgeous design, with black aluminum mesh all over and a nice silver trim. Love the top-facing USB/firewire/eSATA connectors, much more convenient than front bottom.

The BEST part about this thing is the layout inside. Very roomy, and tool-less design actually works well and makes things easy. The 3.5" HDD bays are ingeniously built perpendicular (left-right) to the case, with plastic pull-out trays to load individual drives into. This is AWESOME, because you don't have to suffer through pulling drives in/out over a crowded mobo. And you don't have SATA wiring sticking out over the MOBO - you can wrap them around back instead. BRILLIANT.

Cons: I got mad because there were no screws in the box - until I realized they were actually driven into holes up and down the drive bays. Stupid me... not really a con.
The cable ties built into the case can be nice but they also get in the way; one of them is blocking a SATA connector on my board, and it seems pretty hard to remove.

Other Thoughts: Awesome price for this thing - can't go wrong at 59.99 + free ship. Nice.

5 out of 5 eggsCouldn't be happier.

Pros: Great air circulation. Lots of fan spots. Large for a midsized case. Although some hated it, I loved the position of the usb and headphone jacks. Loved the tooless design, basically most easy pc I've built yet. Looks simple in an awesome way. ALSO...It says it has room for I think 4 more 120mm fans...the neat thing is is that you can use 80mm,90mm,120mm, or 140mm in all of them except technically the bottom(it says only 120 or 140..but it has screwholes and I made a smaller fan work just fine. People also complained about the built in fans, I've had no problems what so ever with the fans being noisy, and I have 10 fans running in this system. There are even holes in the back with rubber casing that allow you to run cords in/out of the case. Nice perk.

Cons: Let it be known that this case isn't too friendly to those who have IDE hard drives. Didn't really like the position of the on/off reset buttons. It works, but it's kind of a pain. Also, the cable management system could have been better. None of this though would deter me from buying this case again if I had the need.

5 out of 5 eggsCooler Master Live Up To Its Name

Pros: Great case It's roomy, solidly built, and the HD racks, cable management, and tool-free design, are all first-rate. This case, in my opinion, is as good as a comparable Ant*c case, but for half the price.

The cooling is phenomenal, and well designed. Not one, not two, but three well-placed fans come with this unit, with places for more. The fans are also quiet, unlike those in so many others. It lowered my system, CPU, and vid card temps 10c to 14c over my old case, which also had three (noisy) fans.

Lastly, the fit, finish, design, and quality of the case hardware and operational buttons, are excellent. No cuts or nicks while building this one either. I have built dozens of systems, but this was my first (but my not last!) Cooler Master case. I will use them again.

Cons: Instruction booklet that came with the case could use some work, especially for those who are not experienced system builders. The "photos" and "instructions" are hard to read and understand. I had some trouble mounting a card reader in the 3.5" slot, because the notation on the mounting tray appeared backwards (one way for for a hard drive, the other for an FD or card reader).

Other Thoughts: The case is larger than one would think by looking at the ad. Be sure you get your tape measure out, look at the specs, and make certain you know what you're buying.

5 out of 5 eggsVery Good

Pros: Best case I've worked with, and I've worked with 4 so far including cases far more expensive than this one. A few things I liked about it

- Lots of ports for fans.
2 on top(1 preinstalled),
2 on bottom,
one in front(preinstalled),
one in back,
two on case door(1 preinstalled)
- Holders for wires were installed in case, and worked well
- Screwless design that was actually strong

Cons: Power buttons became loose and rattle, but still work. I'm not sure if it came like this, or if I damaged it while taking off the front panel (not easy).

I rotated the PSU so that it's fan pointed down and out of one of the case's fan ports. Unfortunately this unaligned most of the screw holes and I could only put 3 screws in. Probably just a bad match between PSU and Case.

Other Thoughts: I was expecting a baggy of screws, but instead they were all installed inside the case. Took me a while to notice that they weren't being used for anything. Not bad, but I spent a while looking for a baggy.

It says 120mm fans here, but it could have fit slightly larger fans as well. I'm not sure what size exactly.
