5 out of 5 eggsRunning great and fast 2 years later

Pros: This has been a great processor for gaming and streaming. I have just upgraded to the 9590 and am passing this one down to my brother, so he can retire his perfectly great Phenom x4 965. I have never had any problems with this processor. I overclocked it easily to 4.2ghz, and it was stable for the most part.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Never went past 43c with my Antec khuler 920 at %45 fan speed while gaming.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat processor

Pros: Have yet to run into any problems with the processor itself. Great for overclocking, 8 cores is a fantastic jump from 2. Have yet to be able to bog this thing down.

Cons: The only con I can come up with is with the heat sink. I highly recommend getting a different heat sink. The stock one is loud as hell, and very inefficient.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: have had the cpu since 5-6 months ago and its still doing its thing, ive never ran into a bluescreen at all. I don't oc it and at 3.6 ghz hacing 8 cores its more than enough for gaming without any bottlenecks at all. I used to game on a intel core2 duo 3.1 ghz, and trust me the 8 cores is a new general standard that tops off the hat to any high end games out today like bf4 or titanfall. no hitches with this guy, only the unavoidable ones, no matter what no ones pc is going to run without a single hitch unless you buy overpriced compenents and dish out 400 on a mobo etc.... thing has held its own against everything I need it for.

Cons: none at all.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Processor for a Good Price

Pros: - Price
- Speed

Overall I am happy with my buy, I have mine clocked to 4.1GHz that runs at about 40-50C when running higher graphics while running fraps. I'm quite impressed and would recommend it to those who are looking to save a buck without sacrificing performance.

Cons: The stock fan isn't great, can be loud sometimes, buying a new CPU fan and going to continue to push the ability of this CPU.

5 out of 5 eggs**Two Microsoft Hotfixes for ALL FX Bulldozer Series

Pros: The two Microsoft hotfixes address Windows OS issues with utilizing AMD's Bulldozer multi-threading architecture. It is not a flaw in AMD's Bulldozer multi-threading technology, but it is Windows OS inability to use it!

Cons: Go figure, neither of these Microsoft hotfixes are available through critical/optional updates. You can locate them on Microsoft websites/sent to you via e-mail.

Other Thoughts: ***TWO MICROSOFT HOTFIXES FOR ALL FX Bulldozer PROCESSORS*** which are not included in critical/optional updates, but are available via Microsoft websites/sent e-mail to you:

1-Microsoft hotfix KB2645594 (install first)
2-Microsoft hotfix KB2646060

These are zip files, so after downloading/opening they still need to be installed:
1- Click start button
2- Select "Computer"
3- Select "Local Disk (C:)
4- Upper right hand corner where it says: "Search Local Disk (C:)" left click in box to clear it
5- Type KB2645594
6- Press "Enter" on keyboard
7- When you see the file double left click on it
8- Follow install instructions
9- Repeat procedure for KB2646060

AMD & Microsoft combined effort so that Windows 7 can better utilize FX bulldozer architecture.

My FX-4100 oced to a stable 4.25GHz/core (stock voltage) along with these two hotfixes is now very close in performance to Intel's i5. My extensive review/oc settings on the FX-4100 is posted on a "Prime" site.

Pros: Very strong processor, i am very happy with it.
i have had this 8150 running nonstop clocked at 4.6 and it has never failed me yet.
It's what they say a BULLDOZER haha

Cons: No con what so ever except the stock cooler witch is always the case when it comes to stock cooling

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: It's 8 physical cores. You have no need for it. But it is great to have. I have more cores than a lot of people have GB's of memory. Realistically, you don't need a super cpu to game on. This will game just as good as any other cpu on the market, and will do it cheaper. It also performs very well at compiling and solid modeling for those who are interested in the professional applications.

Cons: Only was able to overclock it to 3.9 GHz on the stock cooler. Wasn't quite able to get 4.0 stable.

5 out of 5 eggsworth every penny

Pros: price, (got in a combo deal with a MSI 970 motherboard, only $194 for both!!!) fantastic performance, easily overclockable. if your a gamer and dont want to spend $600 on just a cpu from intel, this is worth a look. fan and heatsink cool just fine

Cons: took loose AMD sticker off of fan, it started to peel off and was causing a little noise. otherwise its not loud really, cools quite nicely

5 out of 5 eggsGreat upgrade

Pros: Great upgrade from my 965BE. This chip plugged right in and just went, I did not do anything, it runs at 4.2Ghz all day long, I have an all in one liquid cooler from Asatek on it and in never goes above 65C.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I have this on a Gigabyte 990FXA UD3 board with 2 GTX650ti boost cards and my pc runs everything I want it to very well

5 out of 5 eggsNice!

Pros: I got a gem of a chip, 4.4 on water, 4.3 on air on a decent board. I knew what I was getting when I purchased this in a combo deal. What a great deal it was. It really does try to compete with MUCH more expensive i5/i7 setups.

Cons: I was going to build it and sell it but it's grown on me. I don't know why, but for all the slack bulldozer gets, I notice no difference playing games like BF3 and Tomb Raider on this than my i5-2500k. If I had to give it a con, I would say it's 125w and some people get some really weak cores. I was lucky I guess.

Other Thoughts: Great on a budget especially with some of these pretty decent bundle deals Newegg has had. Couldn't be happier!

5 out of 5 eggsBang for your buck

Pros: A great processor, especially for the price! Mine is overclocked to 3.9GHz and still running cool at 37c with the stock fan, though I used Arctic Silver 5 instead of the pre-loaded thermal paste. 7.7 on the Windows Experience Index (not that it's super important)

Cons: It doesn't always like to play nice with Windows; when I was trying to overclock it, if I enabled AMD Overdrive on my computer, Aero would disappear all together and refuse to be re-enabled. I had to go through my motherboard to do it instead, but it's not a huge deal.
The CPU also has a tendency to get pretty warm under load, but that's to be expected.

Other Thoughts: Good case ventilation is a must! If your case has good airflow, heat shouldn't be a big issue. I have 3 fans, and when they're disabled, the idle shoots up to ~45c and the stock fan ups its speed and gets very very very noisy.
If you're hesitating between this and the FX 3850, the performance difference is small enough to where it shouldn't be that noticeable, especially if you overclock; however, if you can afford the extra $40 to make up the price difference, by all means, go for it!

5 out of 5 eggsThey don't die...please read

Pros: -Very fast! As fast as any SSD I've ever used. 2 second startup/shutdowns
-Inexpensive

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: People saying this dies - it doesn't. Sometimes in sleep mode, it would appear to be dead. But, it saves exactly where you are when you turn off your computer for a bit. To solve this: just set your power settings to never turn off the hard drive. SSDs don't use much power, and don't generate heat, so it's not taxing for your electricity or system to do this.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat!

Pros: -Large capacity...larger than my iphone 5 battery
-Inexpensive
-Nice design...cool indicator light and nice keychain hook

Cons: -Can be a little large for a keychain, but is not too big

Other Thoughts: I got 3 of these. They work very nicely, and I was lenient to buy them for being 8.99 and free shipping. But all 3 work great, and I'm glad I got them before the went to 14.99.

5 out of 5 eggsBest CPU for the money

Pros: Runs Great.
Mine runs at about 50c with minimal cooling during heavy gaming.
Haven't had a single problem when tweaking and playing with it in Bios.

Cons: Cons Are the usual for CPU's.
Stock cooling isn't great but it works just fine, if you have heat issues look into better ventilation or aftermarket cooling.
Stock Thermal is rather Blah, Scrap it off buy something good, your already spending the money spend another 5 dollars.

Other Thoughts: As i am sure most people know by now.
This is not a True 8 core CPU, its 4 cores hyper threaded acting as 8 which is still better then a standard 4.

5 out of 5 eggsIntel can suck it till its soft...

Pros: I bought this processor when it first came out with an asrock 990 extreme 3 mobo 8gb 2133MHz RAM (2x4GB) and 120GB SSD x2 (RAID 0) and have been playing Final Fantasy XIV since the 1.0 version. I have it locked in at 3.6GHz with turbo off. The temps top out at around 52 celsius while playing on max graphics settings. No stuttering or problems at all. Yet Intel users can not seem to do anything with any of the cpu they offer. Why? Well Intel at most offers 6 cores and hyper threading, but HT hardly if at all gets put to use. Plus AMD in general comes with faster clock rates out of the box.

Cons: It won't drive me to work...

Other Thoughts: With my hardware setup on windows 7 I get 7.9 in all areas except for the cpu @ 7.8 but if I stop holding it back it gets the max 7.9

5 out of 5 eggsGreat processor, a winner.

Pros: So many things make me glad that I bought this processor.
It has consistently run everything I've thrown at it, smoothly and even without overclocking. It's a multitaskers dream. It can handle everything.

If you're looking for a CPU and one fast results for video crunching or multitasking this CPU is a great choice. I am running a three screen eyefinity arrangement and multitasking with no problems. 8 cores might seem like overkill, but using AMD System Monitor I have noticed all 8 cores in operation. This is great choice CPU.

It comes with a very good stock fan.
Turbo core technology is a great boost when needed, like in gaming.
Integrated dram controller is an awesome improvement.

Cons: This is not really a con because I tried the stock fan and it did a good job. But if you know that you're going to be doing heavy gaming, video crunching or demanding multi-tasking, I recommend a better air or water cooling system. But that would be with any processor.

Other Thoughts: With a good cooler I have been able to overclock this to 4.2 GHz and run stable, but there's almost no need to overclock the CPU. Even overclocked the temperatures stay good. I have obtained 4.6 GHz also.

This is a follow-up review now that I have owned the CPU for just over a year. This is in my main CPU that I multitask on daily. I love the CPU when gaming my FPS is always awesome. Because of the abilities of the CPU I run it near stock. Overclocking's an option, but the CPU is a beast, not even overclocked. So it doesn't matter if you're an overclocker like me or just an everyday user who wants a CPU that performs. Except for the few reviews with problems that could be user created, you'll notice that almost every review loves this CPU, and so do I.

I'd recommend this CPU to anybody. It's a very good value and even better when you catch it on sale. I have considered moving up to the new Vishera CPUs but this one form so awesome. I decided to just stick with this one, because it really performs. I can have video going in one screen browser open in another, another browser open in another using three monitors at once with no problems. I think this CPU can run all the multitasking and monitors that you can hook up through today's GPU's. That's why I decided to write this follow-up review and give it five stars again. I wish I could give it six.

5 out of 5 eggsI like it.

Pros: Got this in combo with Saberthooth 990 Mobo.
Says it does 3.6ghz, but my bios says 4.2ghz no tweaking or OCing I've done.
Runs anything you throw at it.
Runs ~75F idle highest I've seen is about ~130F with out of box cooler fan.

Cons: None that I can say.

Other Thoughts: Want to upgrade to water cooling.

5 out of 5 eggs2 years in Still got a strong future ahead.

Pros: I bought this processor when it first came out and I was genuinely excited. I work with VMs doing software capability tests, but I'm also a gamer. This processor didn't disappoint and it's almost at it's 2 year mark. I was able to clock it at 4.4 with no hassle and It still runs everything like a dream. AMD did very well with this series.

Cons: It is at 150W, and it isn't till recently that it wasn't PCI-E3.0 compatible. Meh

Other Thoughts: Even the most recent releases are strong variations of this processor. For a good budget, AMD is a solid buy and you can't go wrong with them.

Pros: This processor is a mad house. For the low price that I paid for it a year ago, and the amount of power I received, blew me away.
8 cores at 4.6ghz 24/7, water cooled, running at ~50 Celsius. It's not a $1000 i7, but it's definitely faster than anything in their $200 price range. Paired with a Sabertooth 990FX MOBO, 16GB Gskill @ 1866, and nothing stops it.

Cons: Kind of hit a wall with over clocking, hard to get it to go past 4.6 and be stable. Wish I had waited for the 8350. Oh well.

Other Thoughts: You're not supposed to really discuss after market things like overclocking, but this is an unlocked CPU, designed for it. Just wish it would go a little further.

5 out of 5 eggsGood CPU

Pros: Owned for over a year, and no problems out of it.

Temps are fine on stock fan in my somewhat cool room.

Runs great on windows 8. (Had to install a hotfix on win7 to get full performance I believe).

Overall: You want 8 cores for a good price, go with this.

Cons: Nothing really comes to mind.

Other Thoughts: Got this when it was $200, regretting not getting the an intel at a similar price range.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat CPU!

Pros: Octal Core processing for less than the cheapest "comparable" Intel i7. Absolutely eight times faster in every way than my Athlon X2 6400+ 3200Mhz. I can process and encode HD video in minutes now when it would previously take hours.

The FX 8150 self overclocks up to 4.2Ghz or power saves down to 800Mhz in real time. Stays cool, ~40-65C, even in a closed cabinet with the stock copper pipe heatsync fan, except under heavy load. With a Cooler Master Seidon Liquid Cooler it can even handle heavy load in a closed cabinet without going over about 64C. We can even watch HD video while encoding with no noticeable slowdown or skipping.

This card also allows for PhysX graphics in Batman Arkham City, without the need for the second Nvidea graphics card. Although the framerate dips unacceptably low at times with my current 2GB HD7850 anyway. Without PhysX on no game I have ever slows down. I predict the FX8150 outperforms the CPU side of the AMD Octal Core APUs of the PS4 and Xbone.

Cons: The smear campaign of pro-Intel review sites means you will get nothing but lectures from the tech community for buying this at all. I suppose you could pay up to several times more and get a little better performance.

Other Thoughts: I decided to max out my M5A7 EVO with the FX 8150 last summer and I have never regretted that choice. With the announcement that both the Playstation 4 and Xbox One will be using AMD Jaguar derived Octal Core APUs I expect to see in software updates that favor Octal Core and AMD in the next five years. I mean that for everything from Windows to Video Editing software to MP4/h264 encoders.

Pros: FX, no more need be said.....BUT, I will. FX8150 on an Asus Crossfire V, with 16 gig of Vengence 1600 memory, Cooler Master 1250 W ps. No drag, no hesitation. No fears

Cons: Nadda

5 out of 5 eggsBest processor I have ever owned.

Pros: Insanely fast, dominates anything i throw at it.
Overclockers heaven, i have got this thing to overclock stable at 5.2GHZ and 7.0GHZ Turbo Boost with around 65-70C Temps at full load.
Extremely reliable in any system, be it linux or windows.
This things insane for linux gaming servers, i am running 20 minecraft servers off this thing and its only at 40% load!

And last but not least, affordable. HEAR THAT INTEL!? A PROCESSOR THAT'S A-F-F-O-R-D-A-B-L-E!

Cons: Wattage, thing thing sucks energy man i know its got the whole phase power control and thermal control features and cool & quiet AND EPU AND... You get the point...

However when you over clock this thing the cpu disables all that stuff, why? I don't know either. The ASUS Sabertooth motherboard though has many of those features built right into the board so when im playing a game it goes from around 5-7GHZ if its under heavy load and when im browsing the web my motherboard drops it down to 900 MHZ (It cuts the voltage and multiplier of the processor to save energy)

Other Thoughts: I am no intel fan at all because when i want to make a computer i want to make it on a budget with what i want and what my customers want. Most people think your a bad business man because you tell them a 3770k with a decent board will run you $500 just to buy it. While this and a Sabertooth will run you $320 and you get more cores.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks like it should.

Pros: Works like a CPU is supposed to. No stability issues, VERY fast, and makes me feel better about my masculinity. Eight cores seems almost silly, but I like having a higher number than my peers.

Cons: No 3DNow instruction set. Don't play old games or use old 3D software with this CPU. Almost everyone stopped using 3DNow years ago, and you won't find it in any new games or other software. Not a big loss. Need to play old games? Virtualize windows XP with virtualbox or something. That should be enough performance to play anything that actually requires the instruction set.

5 out of 5 eggsBest value in the world right now

Pros: Incredibly fast. Surprisingly fast. Unbelievably fast. A massive improvement over my previous Athlon 4-core.

Cons: Had to buy a new motherboard to run this thing.

Other Thoughts: This is an amazing piece of technology. As fast as many Core i7 processors for a fraction of the price. AMD is back!

5 out of 5 eggsYou can't slow this thing down

Pros: Ultra fast processing. You can't slow this thing down unless you're abusing your machine on purpose. Such an amazing piece of technology. I recommend this to anyone. Don't blow money on the Intel brand. This processor has everything you need and more. Plus it comes with liquid cooling. Icing on the cake.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I would recommend this processor to anyone for anything. With the liquid cooling you could over-clock it into oblivion. I haven't needed to do this as it's plenty fast and runs everything I need it to.

5 out of 5 eggsDAW - AMD build

Pros: Price/Performance Ratio is great bang for the $.
I bios flashed my ASUS M5a97 MB ,it was ez PZ.
This CPU /MB combo tends to run on the upper range of hot. I have it water cooled with the included kit... In a rack mounted case it sits where the HHDs normally would be drawing in air... i have two 60mm rear exhaust fans. I have two SSD installed mounted below the DVD rom.....
Back to the CPU... The included water cooler is what sold me , I have another PC built around a 95 watt
1045T cpu and with SSD's as well , ASIO drivers and can run 64 samples... no bottlenecks... AMD works for me... next time a Vishera... I am using windows 7 ultimate, I am very pleased with the way my build crunches the numbers.... What If i was to use windows 8 and an 8350FX ???? lol ... If I had to do over I would go 8350FX .... because the price difference is so small,
but I got a great water cooler with my 8150FX, no regretts....

Cons: None .... really you have to work carefully thats all.

No compaints

Other Thoughts: Patience is a good thing- I picked up build parts here and there (on sale) over the course of about six months,
As with any DAW tweaking the system is a major concern...
Do your home work ... Good Luck

5 out of 5 eggsPerforms well, good value for money

Pros: On an ASrock 990FX board with a Radeon HD7850 card I have been able to easily play high end games on near ultra graphics.

Operates well with standard heat sink, fairly quiet.

I have been running this machine on average 4 hours per day for over a year with high end games and experienced no trouble.

Cons: The heat sink was somewhat annoying to get on. (probably my fault)

Other Thoughts: Keep in mind, I did NOT overclock mine (despite the fact that is unlocked) and most of the games that I play do not truly put this processor to its capability. I was not running engineering simulations or trying to project weather patterns.

At the time I purchased this, it was in a combo deal with the HD7850 card, if cost is your object I would advise checking out some of the similar processors and see if there are any deals. (try the FX 8350 or even the six core models)

5 out of 5 eggsOC to 4.4GHz on air cooling

Pros: -Overclocks very easily with large performance increases,
-No problems installing
-Allows for fast renders with after effects and other programs
-Pushes right through full use at a constant 100%
-Games like a champion.

Cons: get a new heatsink if you plan to push your system

Other Thoughts: If you plan to overclock, save money now and just spring for the FX8350, I plan to upgrade for the extra performance boost with it.

5 out of 5 eggsMonster CPU

Pros: It's a beast! Anyone purchasing this that has a brain will toss out the heatsink or keep it as a spare for a cheaper system and will put some real cooling on this monster. It can be cranked up easily and it does perform much better once OC'd.

Running between 4.4 and 4.6Ghz is really easy, runs cool, and very stable although I keep mine higher. For games and everyday tasks it's just amazing how fast it runs. I have a 3930K (also OC'd) and it runs pretty close for most of the tasks I put my computers through.

This CPU due to its design fails hardcore during benchmarks but I didn't pick it up to run benchmarks

Cons: Due to the design, many applications do not use the full potential of the processor. Heatsink that comes with it isn't enough but anyone purchasing a high-end CPU shouldn't be using stock cooling.

Other Thoughts: Hard to beat for the price and it has a ton of potential if you OC it.

5 out of 5 eggsAt a loss for words

Pros: Ungodly fast and rediculously tough. Combining it with a GIGABYTE AMD Radeon HD 7990 GPU would STRONGLY recommend getting a massive PSU ( 1,000 watts or more) for overclocking ( which personally I think is unnecessary due to it's pre-existing raw power)- With this combination I run Tomb Rader on Custom Maxed out setting and getting 60+fps in the heat of a firefight.

Cons: I wouldn't dare speak negatively of this unholy monster.

5 out of 5 eggsIts good. real good

Pros: It was cheap it wont bottleneck crisis 3 or any new games.

Cons: skyrim has issues with this cpu. and its a weird issue. it doesn't use up any of the cores but it gets like random lag spikes no matter what clock stock or up to 4.5 same spikes. but any newer games late 2012-2013 run so darn good and barely touch this cpu. oh and battlefield 3 runs flawlessly to maxed settings. its deff how the games are coded they don't utilize enough cores, starcraft struggles when there is a lot going on but its not even touching half of the cores.

Other Thoughts: The future of gaming looks very very promising for the 8 core fx series

Pros: -Good Price
-Pretty fast. Everything seems to run smoothly.

Cons: -Stock heat sink is extemely loud.

Other Thoughts: My build is kind of cramped, and I only have a few inches of clearance between my case and the media cabinet, so things can get a little little warm if I'm playing a more more demanding game like Farcy or Assassins Creed. I have an external 80 MM Thermaltake fan to help move air from the side vent of the case where the video card is located. I'm considering buying a better heat sink.

Pros: Got it OC'd to 4GHz and I'm running 3 different folding@home clients on this, browsing the web, listening to music, converting video to DVD and burning it at the same time and it's only using 25% cpu cycles. On air cooling it's running at 35°C while doing all this.

Cons: Wish it was cheaper.

5 out of 5 eggsFast and powerful

Pros: I'm coming up on 7 months of ownership, and at this point I can honestly say I have yet to see the maxed out capabilities of this chip. The closest I've come has been converting 10 different 1080p MKV video files all at once. Overall usage: 90%. Thanks to my Corsair H100, the temps are always super low. Overall, very pleased. Wicked fast, and easily overclocked. At standard speeds, it currently computes at a 7.7 WEI.

Cons: The new 4.0 Ghz chip debuted literally two months after I received mine. Not that I haven't pushed mine to 4.0, but still, one has to keep up with the Jones' as it were.

Other Thoughts: Only the most hardcore gamers or video editors will even come close to pushing this chip to it's max. With the ability to overclock it at will, I believe finding the breaking point under regular use all but impossible to do. Hell, this chip make Windows run like it was intelligently designed... that's an accomplishment! FWIW, I got the chip to about 4.6 Ghz before my system became unstable. Test limits at your own risk :)

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Bang for the buck

Pros: A great processor. Fast as all get out.. and while some say it was not good for gaming it did fine in everything I threw at it.. from flight sims to FPSs. Where this processor really shines in multitasking. I can rip a CD in WM while doing a virus scan, surfing the web, playing a MP3 file in WinAmp with photshop open and a game running in the background with not even a burp. My temps have never gone over 48C either doing all that..

Cons: None so far..

Other Thoughts: The one thing I will say is that the stock cooler is not the best. I mean it will work fine for the casual user.. but I suggest you get a better cooler if you plan to push it. I have not over clocked and I was planning to get a water kit.. but the after market cooler I got (Cooler Master Gemini II) works just fine and the processor runs so well I have had no need to OC it.. I know these CPUs bench poorly when compared to some of the Intel offerings .. but in practice I have to say that it has done what I bought it for and more very well..

5 out of 5 eggsDoes what I need it to

Pros: 8cores and I can use all 8 cores on most programs that in running off of a ssd.
I have a h100i and have this overclocked to 5.2ghz with the 7&8 core off for stability when I know I'll be using all cores so it doesn't crash.(I'm just really impatient when saving large projects which takes a while when not saving to a ssd)

Cons: Thought I should mention even thought it is not a true 8core processor but if you run a 3970x with a 6 ssd raid 0 you max out the processor but with this it has one core to spare and running both stock speeds no Overclocking when doing this stock out of the box same project same ssd so you can still play games while you wait so it is helpful it that respect

Other Thoughts: It runs hot about 38c full load stock with 4 nf-f12s push pull setup but I have a special thermal cap a friend made for me really keeps temps reasonable. Needs 2 custom screw just to get the h100i setup right but worth it.

5 out of 5 eggsMuch better than I expected.

Pros: Fast and VERY overclockable.

Cons: Requires a pretty good cooling system to do what the other 300 dollar intel chips do normally.

Other Thoughts: I've got mine OC'd to 4.67GHz at 1.416v. It scores 9950 on the cpubenchmark.net benchmarking tool. With a Delta 120cfm fan and a ZALMAN CNPS20LQ cooler it stays below 61c. Idles about 30-35c.

A ton of people say this chip isn't all that its chalked up to be, but with a decent cooling setup and some careful oc'ing this chip passes up most of the i7s. I used to be an intel fanboy. (Pentium 2/3/4, Q6600) I'm glad I changed ships. Its certainly cheaper.

5 out of 5 eggsReviewers need to think before they post...

Pros: This CPU is the best thing for everything, the 8350 is a step up but when i purchased this the 8350 was not available.

This CPU can run everything on my computer twice and still not be at 100% compared to my Phenom X4 this blows it away.

The CPU has shared cache which is nice as it shares the workload across cores i honestly wish the L2 cache was completely shared like the L3 cache.

Low power consumption! Intel has nothing on this for power, you can run this on a 250 watt power supply (with no graphic cards or mass amounts of hard drives of course)

Amazing overclocking! I have this overclocked right now to 4.3 GHZ stable running at 60 - 75 F temps on a Zalman tower air cooler.

Cons: - Hyper threading is almost non existent, if they could throw intel's hyper threading with amd's logical cores no one could beat AMD.

That's it, this CPU is great! Keep it up AMD!
P.S. Make more AMD Radeon memory!!! I want 4GB sticks :P

Other Thoughts: This processor is getting reviews from people who do not even own it, and are simple posting on here from reading benchmarks or reviews from other websites. Newegg you seriously have got to stop this.

The stock fan ladies and gentleman IS NOT MEANT TO BE GOOD! It is for the CPU to run non overclocked and running on power saving mode on windows. Once you throw it on Performance you destroy the purpose of using the stock fan. If you are building your own computer buy a new cpu fan preferably a tower cooler with a push/pull configuration. They give you this "junk" cooler normally to throw on and use until you're new one arrives.

This CPU works incredible on the 990FX chipset, not only are you able to adjust the FSB, multiplier clock, multiplier, voltage, etc. You can disable the CPU from using the Thermal Probe and giving that duty to your motherboard, which allows it to adjust its voltage more efficiently, this is awesome for my computer when i am not doing much my motherboard lowers the speed of my CPU down to 500 mhz until i do something that requires the speed.

To all those INTEL fan boys, I have built intel machines, and i have also used more intel products that i really didnt care for. The quality of Intel has dropped over the years and they are trash compared to AMD. Have you ever seen a intel desktop? Like 100% made by intel? Cause until you do you will not realise how bad of a company they are.

They make their processors for pennies on a dollar and expect you to pay $1000 for their "extreme edition" CPU, while AMD spends MORE MONEY than INTEL does on their CPU's because of their gold pins on the CPU's (Intel uses no gold pins, instead makes a gold plated contact surface for the socket) So in terms of quality AMD wins.

Intel SSD's are horrible for anyone who wants to try them. I bought a bulk box directly from them (100 pack) over 70 were DOA. Bought a bulk box from OCZ (100 pack) none were DOA.

5 out of 5 eggsBeast CPU

Pros: Amazingly powerful. I honestly should not have bought this card for what i use it for, but nonetheless i have had no problems with it. AMD makes great products and this is definately one of their best!

Cons: Almost too powerful. IF you do not need lots of cpu power this may not be for you.

Other Thoughts: I have never seen this CPU use more than two cores. That makes me feel sorta silly for buying it, but its also made me realize how weak most CPU's are.

5 out of 5 eggsAmd 8 core cpu

Pros: Easy Install, Thermal Compound already placed on heat sync. Very fast cpu, I'm at a 7.8 for windows performance. That is the highest it goes up to. Does not over heat, stays between 70 degrees and 110 degrees depending on the tasks at hand.

Cons: I would go water cooling system, even though the cpu does not over heat the thermal fan still makes a loud noice once ive started playing world of warcraft. The fan usually runs between 5500 rpm to 7000rpm. But other than that one con, this cpu is great.

5 out of 5 eggsFirst Timers dream.

Pros: I used this item in my very first computer build, I am pleased with the items core performance and after the simple bios I went through with my mb I found that this items perfoemance could be amped up even further. It is a great item for the price and I feel that I made the correct choice for my first build.

Cons: None that I can come up with.

5 out of 5 eggsSuper cool

Pros: Super fast and cool.

Cons: Nothing

Other Thoughts: I am using this with a Corsair H50, with no overclocks I am getting 10C Idle, and sometimes it even goes down to 6-7c for a second...in games like BF3 it never gets over 30C....I have been building PCs for last 5 years and have never seen temps this low.

5 out of 5 eggsPower House!!!!

Pros: Great price for a top of the line processor! Multitasking is unreal blazing speeds all cores fully functional. It makes all my programs run so much faster cant get over the power of this processor. A great upgrade from my six core. Also shipped in no time at all.

Cons: Might want to buy a aftermarket fan and heat sink for it temps with the stock fan and heat sink stayed around 38-44 and when i played a few games rose to 50-58. Once i changed the stock fan and heat sink with one of my own temps went down greatly so don't be discouraged.

5 out of 5 eggsSOLID!!!

Pros: FAST AND EASY TO OVERCLOCK!!! This thing is pretty darn fast for the price you have to pay. I realize Intel has faster chips however the price is not worth it. This processor is proof!

Cons: can't think of any

Other Thoughts: I'm doing a mild overclock on my processor (4.2 ghz on 8 cores) with air cooling and it runs pretty cool. Typically around 18C idle and 49C max load.)

Pros: Fast and amazing, can easily. Be over clocked. I am running this at 4.6 ghz, it supports sse 1-4, the response time is great for applications, I would recommend this processor for anyone who is wanting to build a strong affordable pc that will give the expensive ones a good run for their money, I could not be happier

5 out of 5 eggsLove it

Pros: It's a powerful bit of tech and it's been doing quite well since I adopted it. It has adapted to its new home nicely and loves playing high quality video games. For the price, it's a good buy.

Cons: My one and only complaint is the size of the fan dispersion. I feel like it's more of a personal preference and you get what you pay for, but if you want to manage your heat better, get a bigger fitting to place on top of it. This one is too small and condensed and it collects a lot of heat. If you're a gamer, make sure you find a larger, compatible fitting before installing. You'll be much better off.

5 out of 5 eggsMonster CPU

Pros: 8 cores, fast, multi-tasking, price, on sale a good chunk cheaper than the vishera

Cons: runs hot

Other Thoughts: Beast of a CPU, haven't gone over 50 percent usage with multiple games / applications running. Runs a tad hot, but stable at 32C with 5 120mm fans and a stock heatsink/fan (3 intake fans, 3 exhaust fans). Probably need an aftermarket cooler or liquid cooler to push the overclock. Normal settings on MB this thing shreds. Overclocking this is probably just overkill unless your running a brand new FPS on Ultra settings.

5 out of 5 eggsExactly what I needed

Pros: Wonderful processor. I needed an eight core to fully use crossfired grfx cards and it does just that. It also is able to handle much more than my four core I had before. Run games like WoW, Firefall, and diablo 3 all at the same time and it still only needs about 60% of it.

Cons: Fan was a bit of a pain to install but not enough to knock an egg off.

Pros: Happy
Happy
I am happy. 1st time off Quad Core.

I multi tasked like crazy with this. I have 2 monitors and u can imagine all the things I could do especially havin 2 monitors.. Example.

Left monitor:
IE, Photoshop (yes using on breaks), & Videos.
Right monitor:
Game & ingames Explorer

NOT ONE PROBLEM AT ALL.. I even traded the Photoshop for Valve Hammer Map Editor. If u done 3D modeling u know what this will do to ur PC. Especially when compiling... Yup done it!

Cons: I didnt buy this when I 1st had the chance.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for Virtuals

Pros: Lot of cores for virtuals. Lower price than many Intel chips.

Cons: Wish the performance of Zambezi was a little better.

Other Thoughts: I wonder whether many builders just use Intel because of the name brand recognition. All my previous builds were Intel based. During the last Black Friday I decided to do AMD. No regrets.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Processor

Pros: Everything. This processor is great, it smashes everything I throw at it and wants more. This thing is perfect for gaming. dont let the Bulldozer issue throw you off from buyig this monster, as I have had no issues with this processor gaming wise.

Cons: There are a few issues I did have with this processor, but fixed them.
When I first recieved this processor it would boot to the loading windows splash and then reboot, looping forever.
The fix was that it rejected 1 stick of Kingston DDR3 1333 RAM I had installed. After I pulled that stick, nothing but smooth operation. Maybe the memory controller on my CPU is wonky. Not enough to take an egg of though.

Other Thoughts: This and a GTX 670 maxes EVERY available game.
Nvidia said that the 690 is needed to completely max Crysis 3 out, but this CPU/GPU combination maxed the entire game out WITH Antialiasing and will get 45-50 FPS solid.

Pros: Used for first computer build, phenomenal. Much better than old PC. Not a huge fan of the original fan and heat sink, if you have the time and money i'd say upgrade it for sure.

5 out of 5 eggsFan Problem Information

Pros: The processor runs great i get high frame rates on games an no issues found on my motherboard. This is not what is important here. There is an issue however.

For those people out there having fan issues i have had this as well. There is a virus in your computer. It is labeled Microsoft an you can find it in your system when downloading The Sims 3 games or a random required update for Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable. One or more of them are Fake an are trojans installed into your system.

They are causing your Fan to speed up to 7000Rpm You must find and delete the correct program or programs.Other have different names even named Microsoft Games.... something. You must find an delete that as well.Your fans should run correctly.However.Knowtice where your Restore points are.If the restore points are gone.It has shut that down. You should reformat your system. An reinstall your Operating System.

Cons: No one has put out a chart of stable overclocks.Really.Would it kill yah to put out stable OC?

Other Thoughts: Most games and programs like Furturemark and Saints Row the third do not use more than 2 core processors for Processors with 3 or more cores. So they are being tested over an over again giving false information. The test show only 2 cores tested.

This means with only 2 cores tested AMD shows lower scores. An none of the programs are showing the true scores. This also shows in games.I wish people would keep up an update there Software!

5 out of 5 eggsWHOA!!!

Pros: So this is my first AMD build. I have always been a fan of Intel however, decided to try AMD out. I can not be more happier. The speed of this CPU paired with the other items in my case made this build great. I loved the cost difference from that of Intel. Applications load much faster and I can do more multi-tasking then before. I think AMD has just earned a long term customer. I do not overclock for fear of burning things up so stock level is fantastic. I installed this on an MSI board and paired it with 16gigs of G-Skill ram and an Intel SSD drive. The machine lights up in a blink of an eye. I recommend this to anyone who is looking for a way to save money and who is building an inexpensive computer. The total cost of my rig was just over $500.00 and can keep up with all the new games on high to ultra/max settings.

Cons: None.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome CPU

Pros: A great CPU as long as you know before hand that AMD are not the greatest for gaming but does just fine. Highest overclock on water has been 5.1 Ghz, runs 24/7 at 4.9Ghz 1.428. Just remember if OC'ing this CPU to have very good cooling as they do get hot because of the amount of voltage needed, but otherwise for the price and power go for it.

Pros: Works great. Playing all my steam games, and MMOs like GW2, SWTOR, Planetside 2 and FFXIV at high to max settings.

Cons: Was really hard to get the heatsink fan on. It felt like I had to put serious pressure onto the CPU and Mobo to get it on.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat CPU, BUY IT

Pros: Very easy to overclock, and very stable. I run mine at 4.5Ghz with a cooler master v8 and it never skips a beat. My temps stay below room temperature, which due to a broken heater in my apartment, lets the cpu Idle at NINE DEGREES CELSIUS.

Cons: buying a reasonably priced AMD product gets you pelted with excrement from Intel Fanboys.

Other Thoughts: the first one I ordered had a couple of bent pins, AMD cross shipped me a brand new one in an unopened retail box and I didn't even have to send them back anything other than the defective chip itself, which was good because I lost most of the interior packaging, including the felt square under the pins.

5 out of 5 eggsSuperb Processor

Pros: Really pleased with this processor, haven't even touched it's potential! I looked around at all the different processors and between the processing power, price points, and capacity of each chip I purchased this one.

No problems, easy to install, no excessive cooling mechanisms installed, could overclock it if I wanted, but it's unnecessary because it just works like a charm!

Cons: I've yet to bog the processor down even in processing intensive programs such as data analysis and modeling.

So no complaints from me.

Other Thoughts: I realize most people building a machine will choose between Intel and AMD. Most will be more familiar with Intel, but ask yourself what you'll be utilizing this processor for? Go over the processor's capacity and features and choose the one you think is best suited to your needs.

I found that the AMD chip was for me, perhaps others will disagree. However, between the performance, features, and price compared to it's competitors I liked this one and it hasn't disappointed me.

Pros: Performance to cost ratio. Great multitasking.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: If you compare performance to cost ratios AMD blows Intel out of the water. My friend bought a $400 Intel on sale for $200 and we have the same benchmarks. Intel may have better CPUs but they cost way too much, AMD will always be for the gamer.

Pros: Gosh darn eight cores OC'ed to 4.5 stable. I upgraded from a x4 980 some would say why bother, well i had more gift cards than sense, so i icked one up.

Super fast, i have one of those mobo's that are AM# but with a bios update it will support this chip.

Noticeable performance increases across the board, this chip overclocks alot better than my last, and cool to boot

Cons: none nothing,

5 out of 5 eggsWOW

Pros: For all those who bash amd you should look at a few things.. One maybe AMD isnt the fastest cpu on the market but sure the heck isnt the slowest and without AMD making CPU,S we be paying alot more for them upgrades. I read alot of reviews one guy says it wont game right he reverts back to a older CPU everything is fine well update your BIOS this is the reason your having problems now this is a newer fx cpu. Ya the heatsinks are not the best but look at intel forums according to them the newheatsinks theyhave are downright terrible. Alot of the problesm people face is knowledge and trail and error. I can remember paying 469 bucks for top of the line PENT 166MHZ CPU while I could have purchased a simalure or close to same performance AMD CPU. DO RESEARCH PLAN AHEAD AND MAKE YOUR BUILD RIGHT DONT JUMP AND LEAP INTO IT.

Cons: NONE SUPPORT AMD WE NEED THEM AS MUCH AS THEY NEED US

Other Thoughts: My last Pent Build was a 450 mhz cpu at that time AMD was cleaning there clock intel that is but since then intel has managed to stay on top maybe 15 faster over all why pay more unless you have to have the best of the best you will SURE PAY MORE IF AMD ISNT A CPU MAKER IN THE FUTURE THATS FOR SURE.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Good

Pros: Used in my personal, custom build PC to replace an AMD Quad-core; accepts & uses my 12GB of 1866 RAM & it's really fast. Fairly easy install. The factory CPU cooling isn't very loud compared to others that I've used.

Cons: None!

Other Thoughts: Have OCed in the past but decided not to this time because it meets my expectations for power & speed. In the past my personal, custom build PC's ran really warm even with extra case fans & optional CPU cooling fans so I could sit next to them in shorts all year around even in the cold winters. But this one runs really cool to the point that I have to wear long pants. System cooling has really improved.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat CPU

Pros: While I did spec out the computer I built with gaming in mind, it was with general purpose operation in mind as well. As a programmer and someone who runs virtual machines, there is value in a CPU that has 8 true cores when it says "Eight-Core", rather than using other (genius, but not quite the same) techniques to pull it off using only 4 true cores.

This also has more than enough power to game with the best, I do recommend this product.

Lastly, a lot of people complained about the stock fan. They say it was loud, etc. I disagree, I leave this desktop running (with games booted, no auto-hibernating) 24/7 for over a month now, and haven't had a single problem with it, it runs perfectly quiet. That said, I also have a case with great air flow (it's worth investing in guys, really).

Cons: None. Haven't had any problems with it.

Other Thoughts: Be aware that this cannot handle more than 2 RAM cards running at 1866. I've been able to get it running 4+ cards at 1600 with no problem, and also be aware the difference between 1600 and 1866 is rather insignificant, so don't let this deter you. (All of this was with stock support, zero overclocking. With overclocking, your results are going to vary)
