1 out of 5 eggsAlways told me to connect to motherboard power source at startup... even when connected

Pros: I didn't waste more that $20... if that can be a pro.

Cons: -It doesn't work
-It won't even let you go to your boot screen if it doesn't work
-It apparently can ONLY be hooked up to the pci-e power source on your motherboard, no other

Other Thoughts: So I put this in and hooked it up to a 4 pin power source and tried to start up, and it told me "Connect to power source on your Motherboard"- okay, I'll do that. Oh wait, my MB has a male end and so does this
So I had to buy a female to female power connector. Got that, hooked it up
"Connect to power source on your mother board"
But it is HooToo. It is.

In the end I tried another 4 pin power, connecting to my power source, and a 4 pin/Sata adapter I had as well.
All gave me: "Connect to power source on your mother board"

So either
1- The cards power plug is bad
2- My mother boards power plus is bad (this is the first time I used it and it is amazing otherwise, so unlikely)
3- I managed to get the one female/female cable that was defective.

I just bought a different card with a sata power connector (that is optional as well it seems), just to avoid the 4 pin all around on the off chance it wasn't the cards fault. The extremely off chance.

3 out of 5 eggsHoo Too

Pros: when the card would work, it did provide 85mb transfer not even close to 5GB

Cons: Drivers would not always load at start up,
Went to via site try all driver for this card chip set.
could not get to function correctly return for RMA

Other Thoughts: I believe this needs up date driver for the chip set

4 out of 5 eggsIt works

Pros: Powered
Comes with molex to sata power cable if you need it
Cheap
Works in Linux Ubuntu
Small profile bracker
Internal header for USB3 case connection

Cons: Doesn't work with IOMMU protection enabled in BIOS (-1 star)

Other Thoughts: When I first got it, I noticed a page full of errors about some page faulting device in my Linux dmesg output, and the system did not appear to react to inserting USB devices. I tried switch from the x1 PCIe slot to the spare x16 slot, but still no luck. Then I noticed that my BIOS was showing the USB3 drive as detected as a possible boot device, just not in my OS. It turns out that the recent setting for IOMMU security that I enabled recently was the culprit. Apparently this device was doing something internally that the IOMMU didn't like and this was blocking it and causing the page fault kernel errors. After disabling this feature in my BIOS, Linux was able to see and use the device perfectly!

5 out of 5 eggsNice little card

Pros: It plugged in and ran perfectly right away. I never even checked the included mini CD driver.I am hooking the internal header to an AFT PRO-77U card reader plus 4 USB 3, and it smokes on both cards and 3.0 flash drives. I put it next to the backside of my video card, and I think there will be no temperature issues. I'll let you know if it dies.

Cons: None so far.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks perfect

Pros: Installed easily and recognized immediately out of the box using Windows 8.1 Pro. Both rear ports and the one I added up front from the internal connector work perfectly. It has a driver disc, however, if you use Windows 8 the drivers are not needed. Their support site also clearly states this. This product does not disappoint.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Also comes with the low profile plate for those interested. I installed in the x4 PCIe slot for maximum data speed.

5 out of 5 eggsHooToo HT-PC002

Pros: Wrote a previous review based on having received the product and it stated on the Manual/Guide that it DOES NOT Support Windows 8.1, so I installed it on Windows 7 and it worked perfectly. After building the system I then sold it to a friend and he upgraded to Windows 8.1 and verified that it now works in 8.1

Cons: Manual/Guide is misleading, maybe they don't support Windows 8.1 but the product does work in Windows 8.1 with no issue's.

Other Thoughts: I have since purchased another product at my local Computer Store called a 4 Port SuperSpeed USB PCIe Host Card w/internal 20 Pin Connetor from Vantec. It cost more but didn't have to wait to use it and it works in Windows 8.1 as well and the Manual tells you where to find the driver and how to install it.

3 out of 5 eggsDefeats low profile

Pros: I suppose it works, price, low profile bracket.

Cons: Molex power jack faces up... no room for power cable. Even if I had a 90 degree cable, it would not allow me to put the lid on my 2U server chassis

Other Thoughts: bought it because it had the 19 pin internal connector...but the molex power connector should face the rear/front, not up or down. It's not a problem if you don't need low profile.
