4 out of 5 eggsGreat performance, but a bit noisy.

Pros: This card is blisteringly fast! The stock OC is pretty good, and EVGA's software lets you tweak it further. In addition, their software offers some nice tools for keeping track of temps, fan speeds, etc. The aesthetics of this GTX 580 are what led me to buy this model rather than a different GTX 580. Certainly one of the sleekest looking cards on the market. The EVGA logo lights up white and looks nice inside the case. This card looks much better than the ones with the stupid stickers on the fan shroud. Did I mention it's fast?

Cons: I had the budget for two of these to be run in SLI. As other owners have pointed out, the curve on the fan shroud actually causes the card to take up the equivalent of three slots, making it a tight fit for some to run them SLI. My mobo has two x16 slots on it, but the second one was inaccessible due to the curvature of the top GPU's fan shroud. I was still able to use the second card in an x8 slot, but the enthusiast gamer in me was weeping bitterly over the inefficiency.

These cards are power hungry, so make sure your PSU can handle them.

Under load, my cards sat at ~70C. I had a fan on the side of the case blowing outside cool air right onto the GPUs. These cards get pretty loud when they get hot.

Other Thoughts: Because of the fan shroud, I'm taking off an egg. I'm all about aesthetics, but they shouldn't dictate the performance of hardware - especially at this price-point! I don't know if the curvature of the shroud intentionally took up another space, so there'd be better airflow, but no other card is doing that, so i doubt it.

I switched recently to liquid cooling to reduce the noise of my system, use my second x16 slot, and have a more efficient cooling system in general. I can now use EVGA's software to overclock the crud out of these cards, and boy do they scream! The components on the cards themselves are great, but those darn shrouds are problematic for tight setups.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Stuff

Pros: Very good FPS in any game I throw at it, Rift Ultra settings, Warhammer 40k Space Marine highest settings, ect.

Cons: Fans are a bit loud,

Other Thoughts: My temps are really good, I have mine OC'ed at 904mhz with fan at 85% and runs no hotter than 52 C. I can't wait to add another one and run SLI. I see people complaining about temps, I have not had any issues, but my HAF 932 has plenty of cooing.

1 out of 5 eggsBAD DESIGN

Pros: Fast

Cons: When the fans spin up as the temps go up it sounds like one of the fans is flexing and hitting something, maybe the plastic cover. Even it is idling. It sounds bad..

Other Thoughts: SHOPPERS BEWARE

Manufacturer Response:

1 out of 5 eggsA BIG DISAPPOINTMENT

Pros: Card worked great when it did. Failed within a month. Working on my 3rd RMA. I can't understand why they can't simply provide a new replacement in lieu of "refurbished" card when people buy an expensive high end card like this and cant even enjoy its performance when it mechanically fails on you within a month.

Cons: Per EVGA customer service, when a defective card is sent in, they inspect it by conducting a test. If it pass, they put in back into the pool to send it out to the next person. "Refurbished/Reconditioned" so they say. Whatever test they conduct, it must be the bare minimal because I'm on my 3rd RMA! UNACCEPTABLE.

Other Thoughts: Stuck with "refurbished/reconditioned" card for the price of a new card that I couldn't enjoy. Never ending RMA process because of the poor quality control.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello,

I do apologize for any confusion. We do not refurbish cards, we do recertify cards. Refurbished cards are cards that have been rebuilt, recertified cards are ones that have been returned for a number of reasons, but were tested and 100% functional. If you are experiencing problems with multiple cards, and we have tested them but cannot reproduce any problems with the card, this would indicate you may have a larger problem in the system. If you like you can contact me directly, Matth@evga.com, and I would be happy to assist you in troubleshooting to find the root problem.

1 out of 5 eggsBUYER BEWARE

Pros: The performace was great when it worked.

Cons: After a month's use, the card failed. Requested RMA from EVGA and they sent me a "refurbished" card instead of a new card. The refurbished card was defective so I had to RMA it for another one. AGAIN, received another defective card! Now I'm on my 3rd RMA.

Other Thoughts: EVGA sends defective cards as "refurbished" cards. Period. They claimed to test the defective card and if it "pass" their test, it goes back into the pool for the next victim. I spoke with a manager and was basically told to suck it up and continue with the RMA process instead of just replacing it with a new card. A card that I paid $500, I expected better quality control.

1 out of 5 eggsRMA after 1 day

Pros: EVGA and NewEgg.

Cons: Card doesn't seat properly in Asus P8P67 Pro. The heatsink on the card has a slight bulge that hits the MBD chipset heatsink causing the card not to sit flush. I didn't think this would be a problem since this was replacing a EVGA GTX 570.

Worst airflow design I've ever seen. After playing less than 5 minutes of SWTOR or any 3D Game GPU temps are pegged at 99 Celsius. Card is also extremely LOUD when fans kick in to cool it down which doesn't wok as the exhaust doesn't flow out the back like the other EVGA cards.

Thankfully Newegg is RMA'ing this one for Full refund and I will be getting the non DC edition.

Other Thoughts: i7 2600k
8GB DDR3
600GB Raptor
Asus P8P67 Pro

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Card - But watch your spacing.

Pros: I bought two of these cards and ran them in SLI for about 2 months, they ran solid with absolutely no problems. If you are looking for a simple single or even 2-way SLI solution they are a great buy.

Cons: I was very skeptical about the spacing on the cards before I purchased them, I contacted EVGA and they said that the card should work just fine and would not take up a 3rd slot.

While that was technically true, any card placed directly below the card will get pushed down by the fan shroud. This makes Tri-SLI setups with this card impossible, and 2-way SLI setups with say an expansion card a bit tricky.

I just wish EVGA would've come out and said that there are at least concerns with spacing.

Other Thoughts: Just a side note to people with heat issues, these cards don't exhaust all of their heat like the normal GTX 580's do. I'd recommend having a method to push and/or pull the heat from the area otherwise it will be an oven in there.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat card

Pros: Demolishes everything I've thrown at it. Crysis? Crysis 2 with the dx 11 and high-res texture packs? Nothing phases it. Stays relatively cool under load (Highest I've seen it get is 81 C). EVGA's lifetime warranty which is really desirable if you're spending this much on a card.

Cons: First unit I got had a defective fan and burnt itself out in under a day. EVGA's replacement policy was easy to work with and reasonably fast but still... It happens. Absolutely huge card. A bit of noise under load, not loud or distracting but definitely noticeable.

1 out of 5 eggsAgain with UPS.....

Pros: This is an update to the card I received about a month ago. Out of the box (which looked as though UPS had sent it through a soccer match as the BALL), I was receiving several errors on both Windows 7 and Windows XP. Every other time I turn my computer on, the drivers simply vanish. Not to mention, my friends with lesser overall computers are pulling in more fps in games than I am. My old GTX 470 is about on par with this thing! Very disappointed.

Cons: Frames in Crysis 2 Multiplayer Ultra settings go anywhere from 50-15 fps in a matter of seconds. I would chalk this up to something else, but my gtx 470 pulls a constant 30-35 fps on the same settings in the same rig.

Other Thoughts: After running several tests on the rest of my hardware, I've concluded it has to be the card that is defective. I'm placing a good wager it's partially UPS' fault for the poor ship job. Thankfully, Newegg has been so kind to issue me a replacement card, free of shipping. Maybe I'll finally get to fully use this expensive card to it's full potential.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello,

I do apologize if your card arrived in poor condition. If you run into any issues with the replacement please contact me directly so I can work with you on this, matth@evga.com
